Ubisoft announces Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is rumored to be an expanding live service project

Expected that to be honest. AC was becoming too big and too expensive and was introducing MTX little by little.

Look making games like CoD Warzone and Fortnite is cheap and way more profitable than traditional games that take 5 years and have to sell for $60 max. These kids nowadays spend $60 on skins every month. I loved Warzone but after a year and a half they still havent made a second map. Why would they when the masses eat this shit up?

I am thankful for companies like MS, Nintendo, Bethesda and Sony first party studios for bucking these trends and focusing on first party because third parties cant wait to get out of this business. Absolutely disgusting.

Let me guess: full price 70 usd game + paid expansions + loot boxes + always on + obligatory coop modes + esports + battle passes + season passes + vip pass + monthly premium pass + bonus experience and gold pass + paid currency... Am I forgetting something? Well, any other thing that they can copy from F2P/Mobile games ways of getting money.

Can't wait to see this trash.

Says a lot that. Why did they have to be too big and too expensive? Couldn’t they manage budgets better or cut out the monotonous copy and paste design and go for something less vast yet contained enough variety to keep a player engaged ? A game that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome yet has enough to satisfy. Instead we get the same bloated, long winded shite like synchronising and in Valhalla we get the raids on castles at the end of most main missions. Same thing, different era.

It’s like the consumer has to pay for the lack of self reflection within these publishers and developers. A fair few of them do not respect a players time at all. So now they chose , instead of cutting the fat, making a leaner better paced experience with less monotonous tasks , to go down the live service routine which will likely be bombarded with that sort of shit.

I’m not having a go at you of course, I just get cheesed off how lazy some of these idea folk are and get away with it.

Everyone chasing the V-Bucks dream with Rocket League and Fortnite's successes. We've seen a couple of fledgling attempts that cratered damn near instantly. Games like Bleeding Edge, Rocket Arena, Knockout City, so the videogame graveyard will be filled to the brim with live-service games next few years. They are cheap to develop and if they succeed you're raking in the cash, if they fail you just pull the plug and pretend they never existed.

Even Sony's first party studios are doing it.

They're just merging Montreal and Quebec's AssCreed teams to make a big game with expansions. Important for their internal workings, but not for us.

Exactly what every Assassin's Creed fan wants, right?

......Right?

At this point the fanbase is so fragmented that they've made it impossible for themselves to make a game all fans will enjoy.

- There are AC fans that enjoy the city climbing of ACII and Unity
- There are AC fans that enjoy the pirate open sea gameplay from Black Flag
- There are AC fans that enjoy the huge RPG-lite games like Origins and Odyssey
- There are AC fans that enjoy the zone-for-zone liberation gameplay from Valhalla

This series is a complete mess, design-wise. Haphazardly adding features only to drop them in the next game. What even is an Assassin's Creed game at this point? If you ask 10 people you get 10 different responses.

After the shit fest that was valhalla, I was already wary of getting another ac game, but going the live service route puts it in the negative column for me.

This is my favorite game series after MGS, so I'm hype for wherever the series goes. I loved each game for different reasons, and I'm mid way through my Valhalla playthrough; I think its one of the best in the series. More AC is personally all I want. I've been hooked on the series since I saw the first trailer back in 2006. I would happily join a live service if it meant I don't ever have to stop playing.

You know, like...I'm one of those rare people who enjoyed every single Assassin's Creed game and platinumed Odyssey, both expansions included. And like...

Nah, dude. Fuck this. Not today. Not tomorrow.

I know I'm supposed to hate Live service games, but god dammit they provide me so much fun. I'm curious to see how this plays out because I can see it working.

As far as i understand this thing is very early in development and far away, did they clarified will be there other games in between?

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Valhalla has a lot of value but I feel like it needed to be shorter, it brings good characters (Ragnar’s children), raids and good hubs but it felt kinda long and now Ubisoft is basically trying to be Xbox live game pass Microsoft services and it might be a good decision based off of game passes success.

And there goes what little interest I had in this franchise.
The recent games were already too long and bloated, this will now just get 10X worse.

Of all those fans I don't think any like any of the combat, it's always been shit.
Also anyone who likes those follow the people while listening missions are too sadistic to count.

Schrier: "Blah blah game game agenda game."

Also, Ubi literally need to take some time off and creatively solve for their lack of creativity with all their games. I have zero interest in anything from Ubi because I feel like I've already played them all before they even release.

Loved me some AC Odyssey, but same as Origins and same as Valhalla.

Love me some Giancarlo Esposito, but he's the only compelling thing about FC6....because FC4 and FC5 are all the same.

The multiplayer in AC2 was interesting. You could blend in with the crowd or go hunting yourself. In the end, it just ended up people running around and doing the stabby stab. If they're going the route of Fortnight or GTAV, you've got limited weaponry to use unless it's modern day templar and sins.

Ubisoft is working on a new project codenamed Assassin's Creed Infinity, which will reportedly be an online platform that would include multiple historical settings and evolve over time – not unlike the approaches taken by Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Bloomberg's sources say that Infinity is designed to run for years, and would include a number of settings, rather than the single historical locations the series is known for. The platform would seemingly encompass multiple different Assassin's Creed games, which "might look and feel different, but they will all be connected." Bloomberg's sources also say the project is years from release.

Ubisoft confirmed project's existence to Bloomberg, with a spokeswoman saying it wants to “exceed the expectations of fans who have been asking for a more cohesive approach”. No other reported details were confirmed.

What about the fans that want single player games that are not bloated to the point where they take 100 hours to complete? None of them want a fucking service.

Live service doesn't mean always online. AC infinite will be platform now and it will have yearly story expansions. They were doing yearly AC games, basically recycling shit and charging full price but going this model, they can just release big story expansions without charging full price. Halo will do same.

How about we wait and see how it work before jumping onto conclusion? Why live service is considered as bad? Every game with DLC and expansions is a live service game.

live gaming service for single player game........... so instead of getting bored and walking away from repeating the same missions I now have to cancel my credit card payment to do so?

Ubi doesn't do many things well, releasing your standard AC game in a new time setting was the one thing they could keep coming back to, and now they're going to fuck that up....

Great to see no men who've been convicted of abuse are working on this. Is it the same for the women? I didn't see confirmation for them..
