Even though the whole "Starfield is only on Xbox" is pretty obvious (and anyone who believes otherwise is a concerned troll), this guy has always been a dick.

But Starfield is a first party game.

That hasn't really stopped MS in the past so.... who knows.

I wouldn't be shocked if we saw this 1 year later release on other platforms anyway lol Its hard to tell with MS. They've claimed something was exclusive in the past and lied, they've put their first party titles on rival systems before. Its really hard to just say "but would Sony or Nintendo" when they just don't have a deep history of doing that compared to MS. Either way, its a day 1 for me regardless.

I mentioned this long ago.

But it makes perfect sense for Starfield to be the first Xbox exclusive for Bethesda.

Fallout and Elder Scrolls are a known quantity. They have the past sales data to know how much money they would miss out if they don't sell it on Playstation.

However, Starfield is a new IP. Even if it is just a reskinned Skyrim In Space, technically it is like Bloodborne for Sony (instead of part of the Darksouls franchise).

And the thing is that there is no loyal customers of Starfield out there, no expectations and nobody to get mad. Further there is no sales data, so the stock market wouldn't be able to compare the Starfield sales with past versions of its self that was multiplat, as it doesn't exist before.

So Xbox obviously want to have Starfield as an Xbox exclusive FIRST, as it is the best one for testing the waters. What would the reception be? How much money would they gain/lose? How much effect if any on Gamepass numbers? And either way would reflect on what Xbox would do with the future projects AFTER Starfield.

Redfall releasing before Starfield.

I know more people with that combination then Xbox and pc. PS and PC always has been the best combo.

Agreed.

Thats the combo I have lol

I mean...people need to really fucking look at it, its hard to really tell someone like me to buy an XB when their best titles have come to PC.

XB. KOTOR 1 and 2, Halo 1 and 2, Fable, Half Life 2, Doom 3 etc (then fucking ask why I don't own an XB)
XB360 Gears Of War, Mass Effect gets bought by EA, Fable 3 put on PC...yet again (fucking ask why I don't own an XB)
XONE...fuck it, all that shit is now on PC....(then fucking ask why I don't own an XB)

I mean seriously folks lol I didn't care much for what MS put out last gen and I own a gaming PC, why would I then BUY another fucking system to play a set of games by MS I don't even play on PC RIGHT NOW? Thats like saying you don't like EA games, but I keep asking you to buy the EA BOX lol

So if I don't really buy much of what the publisher puts out, I don't see why I'd then pay more money to buy a system for JUST what they put out or something. I don't see that ever really happening, especially with their new stance on PC

How much more of this can these guys take? Leave it alone already. Soon we'll need a "Bethesda games are still coming to Playstation ot" thread.

I am talking about percentage of fanboys of PS that also have a PC. Not comparing numbers of PS to XB that own a gaming PC too. I would think being any kind of console fanboy makes it less likely to be into PC gaming too.

I have no idea how high the percentage is, but I definitely have a PS5 / gaming PC combo and so does my friend who is also a pretty big PS fan. It's the best gaming combo because you get to play all the best games in the world outside of the few Nintendo ones obviously.

There are tons of exclusive gems on PC too like strategy games (Paradox) and RPG games better played with KB / mouse. I'll definitely play Starfield if it's good, probably by resubscribing to PC Gamepass. Thanks MS for putting every Xbox game on PC, it's definitely great for people like me who don't want to have 2 consoles.

Why are you mad? lol the fuck?

Someone made a statement, I agreed, gave my take. No need to be trigged man lol

Rivet Rivet Agreed, but many folks hate hearing that apparently lol Not even sure where the fuck they heard being a fan of something by default means they hate everything else. I don't know why me liking God Of War means I must hate Company Of Heros lol

The fuck? lol ok pals

Did we really need this thesis?

You could have just said "I have a big... PC" and be done with it. Lost me at the 5th 'lol'

Yeah … no.

Please show us proof of Xbox fans actually saying that. Otherwise it never happened, just Sony fanboys loosely putting together words and twisting it.
It never fucking happened. Like literally NEVER happened. 🤣

People argued that it wasn't the ONLY games that were played on consoles, that there was nothing wrong with being excited for or playing multi-plats more than exclusives, which is the case even on Playstation consoles despite its exclusives advantage during PS4 gen.

No Xbox fan who isn't a complete idiot ever said exclusives were bad for the industry or anti-consumer. And if anyone did, they are to be ignored.

Exclusives aren't bad, but they may be somewhat annoying because sometimes they force you to buy a new hardware to play the game you want.

But Starfield isn't "exclusive" since MS allows me to play it on my PC too, that's the point, they didn't force me to buy a new console.

Seriously. If you really like these games, you could always go and get an Xbox. I'm sure Xbox S will be even cheaper by holidays 2022. Previous generation it almost made no sense to own MS console. This time. If MS executes well on some of these games, surely there will enough incentive to own both.

Halo would need to go to Playstation in order for Starfield and the next Elder Scrolls to go to Playstation at this stage. That's how important and closely linked Starfield, Elder Scrolls and future Fallout games are now to Microsoft and Xbox.

If Halo isn't going, if Avowed isn't going, if The Outer Worlds 2, if Perfect Dark and Hellblade and Forza Horizon aren't going, then neither will Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI, or future next gen Fallout singleplayer titles.

Yeah it’s the reason I’m likely to reinvest in my PC first instead of a PS5 (that and my PC can play a fair amount of stuff and the PS5 is hard to find). Sony keeps eying PC and their console becomes less attractive (like Xbox before it).

'Launching exclusively' is still quite unclear....

Is it perpetual or is it just for launch?

Of course the xbox guys are going to say it will be exclusive forever but it needs to be clarified beyond doubt and that statement from Greenberg just didn't do that. IMO.
Yes, this was my immediate thought when I read his actual response and not just the title of this thread.

Normally I'd say the language has been specifically selected to leave the opportunity for release on other platforms at a later date. But I think Greenberg has a history of sloppy communication, so this may just be another example of that.

Fair point. Look at the kind of attention this game is getting before a single piece of gameplay footage has been shown. Can't wait to see more.

Sales do not matter for games in gamepass. Using it as a metric is like making a big deal that x artist CD didn't sell as well as an album from 2010...the data used to track success for a gamepass game is totally different and as said is more about engagement than pure sales. I do agree that Starfield is a good BGS game to first launch into gamepass only cause its the next one. But based on history Elderscrolls being exclusive would have been twice as big of a controversy but also twice as good for Xbox next holiday season. Tho both should do extremely well on the platform. Wouldn't be surprised if they become the most played games on it.

Yes, like 1st party games that got released on PS after being acquired by MS like Minecraft Story Mode, Psyconauts 2, Quake 2021 or the other games that got DLCs and updates after the acquisition on PS like Minecraft, Fallout 76, Elders Scrolls Online, Doom Eternal etc.

MineCraft is it's own Mega brand that will stay multiplat.

Psychonaughts, Deathloop, etc. were already under contract or nearly finished.

ESO, FO76, etc are existing titles that they will continue to support as they should.

Quake 2021 is a legacy title. Which Xbox execs clearly mentioned legacy titles would also continue to be cross platform titles.
I would expect any other legacy remakes to be cross plat.

All future AAA Titles is what will be exclusive.

I couldn't find the one were he said exclusives are anti consumer but this is close enough

We'll see. I think some will be full console exclusive and other will be 'first (timed console exclusive) or best (multi since day one) on Xbox' as the boss of Xbox finances said. As an example, I think Indiana Jones will be multi day one, and if not after a timed exclusivity.

Don't be obtuse. Your own prophet said it.

yeah and if you look beyond a clickbait headline he says

“I find it completely counter to what gaming is about to say that part of that is to lock people away from being able to experience those games. Or to force someone to buy my specific device on the day that I want them to go buy it, in order to partake in what gaming is about. Gaming is bigger than any one device…

if you use any bit of reading comprehension you would understand he is referring to things like cloud gaming and pc

We really going to spend the next two years pretending people still care whether it's exclusive or not?

People stop caring about world changing events faster than they stop caring about Bethesda games not being on Playstation, we really doing this?

right

The ship of Starfield on PS5 sailed when Microsoft dropped billions on a publisher with an army of studios. The sooner people accept it the less frustrated they’ll be. Yes it sucks. No, you can’t do anything about it.
If you don’t mind me asking, why does it suck?

We have no idea if this game will be high quality. Also, what sucks about MS having exclusives?

Not sure why any console fan would be upset. But if you're really cheap, wait until the end of the generation. The series S will be dirt cheap by the time Starfield launches. You can probably get it under $200 lol. Play all the MS exclusives, sell it.

Depends on what goes to PC and how fast tbh.

I still enjoy gaming on console so for the foreseeable future, I see me on both. How ports are done on PC would have to radically change for me to even consider doing a 1 system type of thing.
