Would microtransaction short cuts ruin Fromsoftware games?

Playing Tales of Arise right now and while its a cool game I cant stand that it has micro transaction shortcuts. A few review pointed this out but as a whole most critics and fans have no problem with it.

Why do games like Dark souls not have micro transaction short cuts but games like Tales of Arise does? Why do some communities accept it while others do not?

yea no. keep mtx out of souls game. Every game be getting mtx and ruining it. Why bother buying the game then if you're just gonna short cut your way to the end. Makes no sense.

Monetiezing what used to be cheat codes (methods that help make the game easier in some way) is just not good. Hope most people reject these crass moneygrabs.

A game with paid "shortcuts" makes it impossible for me to ignore the likely possibility that the game was designed around them being enticing.

I usually lose all interest and won't play it, certainly won't legally buy it.

You mean like, Ubisoft ruined Ass Creed that it's literally become Ass Creed?

Why yes fellow denizen, the answer is a big resounding...

FUCK OFF WITH MICRO-TRANSACTIONS IN SP GAMES, YOU DEPLORABLE GREEDY FUCKS!

Now I can't ride fucking Pegasus in Ass Creed Odyssey because some asshole decided, it would be fun if people should buy it instead.

Ubisoft's timesavers was the start to this plague. Now it's carried into everything single player...

Game: $60

- Skip to level two: $10
- Skip to level three: $15
- Skip to ending credits and you get all retroactve achievements: $100

Fuck games are expensive. This game cost me $160!

Microtransactions shortcuts? Are they serious? Next we’ll have microtransactions for seeing the ending without even having to play the game.

Literally nobody hated contra for having 30 lives or any game for that matter for the LONGEST time.
Only millennials cry about cheats they're not even forced to use.

They should be free.
And what the "sKiP tO THe eNd" horse shit are you people talking about?
That's not how this works.

Yep. Whenever I see a game with these I can't help but assume they made it at least slightly more grindy or slow just to make the DLC more enticing.

I remember a lot of people saying the double XP dlc in AC Odyssey was totally a non issue, but I did actually find the game too slow and grindy toward the end. I did quite a few sidequests and still encountered a couple of arbitrary level gates to progress in the story.

Honestly, this OSS a great idea. A lot of people can’t stand the challenge of these games, and micro transactions have got to the point where they are no longer obtrusive, and if this helps generate more money for From, I would say this is a win win for g gamers.

It's inevitable that some games would start being designed with those microtransactions in mind and even if they aren't, a player can never be sure about that. So yes, it would be ruined.

I definitely wouldn't be the target audience for this type of thing. If a game isn't even enjoyable enough to play through then I'm not going to reward the company by giving them additional money to skip parts of it.

It sounds like something that could ruin any game..

I don't know if it's an issue in this case since I haven't seen how it works. But long term I would think having 'paid shortcuts' would incentivise making parts of the game intentionally boring just to get people to pay up.

Its not acceptable, the game needs some reviewbombing to convey the message to them. Even EA took a lesson out of Battlefront 2.

I already mentioned it in another thread but Tales and Namco Bandai has been doing this from the beginning of DLC existence.

That's just Bandai's DLC strategy. They're not just doing it with Tales either.

This thread is 13 years too late.
