Note, It's likely more DLC like Smash DLC or BOTW DLC will be included. They will likely add a lot more value to this soon, and I suspect they will announce more in a week or 2.
They'll be forced, the let down is big, almost 50% dislike rate on YouTube and there's not even a single comment praising this.

I was interested in the N64 emulation, specially since some games can't still be properly emulated on PC without stupid bugs or glitches, but $50 is just too much... If they give us Smash and other games DLC on the price it would be awesome cause lots of us still don't buy them and probably won't and it would feel like a good deal

Even with the N64 games, I don't think that's a good value. They should have done the work to add more games before they made this announcement.

Yeah that's a complete joke. I'm sticking with the base membership for now.

If there's a monthly option for that higher tier membership, then maybe I could see myself getting it for a month or two just to play those genesis and n64 games, and cancel afterwards.

Would be nice to know the pace at what they will be putting out these N64 games will be. I also feel like this price would have been ok if they got gamecube and Dreamcast games but baby steps I guess.

I said a $10 increase and I thought that would cover Nintendo looked at the market and said we can get $50. 😂

I’m so dumb.
I did beat Metroid dread though.

What irks me about situations like this is there will be people going out of their way to condescend those not impressed by this but should they offer a better deal they will be the first with shit like “there you go, be quiet haters”.

Ask for better UI features and these types come crawling out with the same shit but will praise to the hilt if the features are implemented.

Not even gonna feel bad for Nintendo when they have their next "Wii U".

I will say that Mario Odyssey was incredible and Metroid Dread looks great, but god damn, Nintendo.

Why don't they sell nes/snes/n64 games standalone? I don't even mind buying overpriced roms, its nintendo afterall. But why should I pay monthly annually? Just sell me the rom.

Not seeing the big deal... it was massively underpriced and not sustainable before. Now it's overpriced but they potentially have room to make it worth it long term.

Meh. Hard to cry about this price when it's for a whole year.

Maybe I'll get it, maybe I won't. Not sure yet.

Not going to bother with upgrading I will just stick with bare minimum yearly family plan. I want to own these old games on digital and not bother with a subscription even if I already own a lot of these games on cartridge.

I already collect old games for preservation and emulation purposes. PC gaming is glorious with Retroarch and all the emulators or there so a streaming service isn't appealing to me anyway. My good ol Retrode takes care of dumping my N64, SNES, Genesis, Master System, GB, and GBA games. I love backing up my own games.

I was happy to finally have a way to play Ocarina and Starfox again, but not for a $30 increase, lol. Ocarina is my fav game of all time, but it's been 20 years since I've been able to play it. I guess I'll have to continue to wait.

Thanks Nintendo. Btw, I would have happily paid $15- $20 a pop for some of these classics. Not like this though. I want to own these games not have you holding these hostage for $50/year.

Yeah, the Wii and WIiU Virtual Console were much more comprehensible offerings - there were a bunch of games I already had in N64 cart format that I ended up buying on the Wii VC for convenience. They still work, which makes it a lot more appealing than this new multiteir subscription deal.

And Nintendo expect us to pay $50 for their barebone online infrasfructure?

Expect them to jack up the prices again by the time they will add Gamecube, DS, GBA

This price increase for old ass games is disgusting. And don’t come with AC dlc arguments not all of us like that game. They want gold/plus prices for inferior content.

If this happens, I'll be overjoyed, since I'm going to get this service regardless for the N64 games and would like to be able to tell myself that I'm not a complete fucking sucker, but I'll be a little pissed if the Octo Expansion is included, since I just bought it a couple weeks ago when it was on sale.

I don't think it is... the DLC will be $25 on the eShop while it's $30 more on the Expansion Pack... and you won't retain it after the sub ends so no, it's not cheaper...
I'm already subbed for a year, the expansion pack is 20€ more, the DLC costs 25€. So sure I could buy the DLC for 5€ more. And I wouldn't get the Nintendo and Sega roms, And I wouldn't actually own the DLC anyways because you will never "own" digital goods.

If you don't have a problem with it then why the hell don't you pitch in and pay for us then? People like you piss me off

Because it's not his problem if 2.50 a month makes people mad?

People here are weird. So much rage and anger over a 30 dollar a year optional feature.

30 dollars ... a year. This is nothing if you want it, and if you don't want it, it doesn't affect you in the slightest.

Ok, whatever lol. The difference is you aren't typically charged annually to keep digital goods.
