Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Trilogy Reveal Trailer

I don't mind it and I'll give it a go at a discounted rate, but it does make it look more cartoony than the original due to the enhanced clarity, the old foggy look these era games had kinda helped mask whats making them look like fortnite characters now.

Its damned if you do and damned if you don't though since if they had that look to it average consumers would say it looks too grey/flat. I do think they should've kept the distance fog to an extent but maybe its just the shots they chosen for the trailer/screenshots since the GTA 3 screenshot with the cops behind their cars is reminiscent of what I mean.

The PS5 version listed on the site only lists PS4 features. No mention of haptics. I'm guessing the PS5 version is just the PS4 version? I really don't know.

The Series X version has the Smart Delivery tag.
Nah, 4k up to 60FPS for PS5 / Xbox Series X confirmed.

This looks like a bad fan remake.

Yet another remaster that despite technical advancements looks worse than the original by fucking around too much with the original art.

I think a big issue is that they didnt want to redo every texture from scratch for whatever reason so some of it is just upscaled and that adds sharpening and upscaling artifacts to things like the LCPD texture on the car door and CJ's pants/belt.

It probably looked worse when they did replace all textures because the low polygon models don't compliment fully replaced high detail textures that well so they probably should've redone some models to avoid that issue, but then it got out of hand what amount of work needed to be done and that takes it farther from the original vision.

I do think more people like yourself would've been onboard if they just kept it all the same as before but with modern resolutions and QoL or did a full proper remake but with the old geometry as a base, like how Dead Space 1 remake looks.

Ok but you also wrote

AFAIK backwardscompatibility + doesn't come with an increase of resolution, so I wanted to clarify it's a PS5 game. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah I was just spitballing because Sony's BC solution is a mess. It seems different for every game. Not that important tbh.

Just actually watched the trailer. Looks kinda ugly... I bet with their track record that this will take a 3090 to run at 60fps lol

Seriously. But gamers have only ourselves to blame as we say, "thank you sir, may I have another."

I'm guessing Rockstar programmed for the PS4\Xbox One generation and scaled up for the PS5\XSX and scaled down for the Switch. Doing this makes them more money.

I mean, I know why they did it. But we could have gotten so much more. Especially with the Unreal Engine scalability.

Look at the laziness with the GTAV "upgrade" on the PS5, etc., and lack of any RDR2 upgrading on next gen consoles.

This IS a regular remaster. Take the original game and slap on some HD textures.

Can we all stop pretending the originals didn't look goofy and cartoony too? We were just filling in the blanks with our imaginations because all we had was a PS2.

Look at this shit. They're arcade games, they were always arcade games. We just thought they were super gritty and realistic because it was 2001.
Yeah but the older games weren't shiny, everything has a plastic look to it on the remasters.

Tbh I don't see why anoyone would prefer this to the original game, unless he/she prefers graphics over the original art direction. Just look at that take of GTA III with the monorail, it went from gloomy to shinny and sunny just for the sake of muh illumination and reflections effects.

I guarantee this will be edited out too:

"Don't let him escape!"

Those games were too based for today's standars.

good enough I guess. I will get it on Switch or PC, but not at release.

This is about as good a remaster is gonna get. The updated controls should make playing these games a lot better since the original mechanics have aged poorly.

Obviously a full on remake of these games would have given vastly superior results, but this seems pretty okay. Price is way too high through.

Looks like dog shit and like an amateur regular fan made it lmao! it looks worst than the original art style wise, blind delusional sheep with low standards will buy it though.

Vice City here we go again!

I like that they really tried to keep the original artistic vision intact. I hope they were able to relicense most of the songs from the original games.
