God Of War Has peak of 73k on Steam, overtakes MHR for #1 weekly sales spot

It's easy additional revenue, ports are cheap. It's also a way to make everybody know their games.

They're #1 in sales on Steam by the way, sales are good. They may end up at a few millions.

They already made tons of money in God of War selling 20 million copies anyway.

It is just 2 days into release.

Let's wait and see if it has legs.

Days Gone and HZD sales fizzled out very quickly.

Man, those guys are craving for some good games after all the chest-beating about CyberPunk 2077 as if it's a PC exclusive. Glad it's squeezing more money after like 4 years, the peak of gaming excellence.

You can feel the fan boy raging inside wanting to go further but trying to avoid a ban so you just tiptoe the line with this childish bait. I swear some of you can't be no more than 10 year olds with these types of comments.

Few months ago it was a walkie-talkie, babysitting sim, and playable movie. If you think PC gamers aren't as fanboys then not buying a game outside Steam is the highest level of fanboyish lunacy. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Sony executives with bonus's keyed to increases in new areas will be drooling all over this and won't care about how it might affect console sales will now for sure greenlight day and date PC games. It's a roaring freight train that won't be stopped.

I mean its a movie. No one can deny that. Too much cutscene.

That is major flow of Sony games. They have good gameplay and story. But the amount of cutscene is unbearable sometimes.

What the fuck are you even talking about? If your excuse is "well others act like childish pricks and ruin civil conversations in threads so I might as well do it" then in the words of Kratos himself "do not be sorry, be BETTER".

I take you as not a fan of Metal Gear Solid series, hoping you don't say the same about it as they are 70-90% cutscenes, near-telltale level. It's called storytelling, maybe you enjoy your annual CoD and other plain shooters, which is ok.

there is difference between text, and movie like cutscene. Plus I dont mind them. I just hate them, when they appear during good parts of the gameplay.

Why bother releasing these games on PC if the excuse is it is 4 years old, already sold 20 million and those who wanted to play it already did?
It's like y'all don't understand how a business works.
Why bother? MONEY.
Days gone and HZD made enough to fund another AAA title, or to just line the execs wallets with a fat bonus check, but yeah why bother.

Considering the port begging we witnessed for these games the sales have been average. Looks like more a case of PCMR simply wanting these games on PC to soothe their egos after blowing thousands on their hardware. Buying and playing these games is irrelevant.
They should remove the game, refund everyone and stop porting game for a crowd that don't deserve it.
Hopefully they read your post and start running this god damn company properly.

Staggering how they let a bunch of incompetent execs running this multi-billion dollar company when we have talented fanboys analysts who could do a better job.

This is just a ridiculous narrative that people love to push.

Many triple-A titles have a lot of cutscenes. They're either just as long or even longer than Sony titles.

  • Extra revenue/profit for AAA games, that became more and more expensive so more risky. So may help if some game tanks. Compared to brand new AAA game ports are very cheap so if they sell a few million copis they are very profitable.
  • Help to reach and monetize players who will never buy a console for multiple reasons (from not having enough money, to insane hardware taxes for consoles on their country, to not liking consoles, to be a pirate or to living in a country with no console culture..) but may like their games.
  • Help to promote their consoles and upcoming sequels of these games that only will be released at least during some years on PS. At least a tiny portion of these PC players will buy a PS5 to play these sequels or other PS exclusives not released on PC if they liked the ones released on PC. And once there they may pay PS Plus/Now and buy on average over a dozen games more.
  • Help to promote upcoming cinema or TV adaptations of these IPs.
  • In Steam and Epic Games Store a % of these game revenues go to the stores' platform owners, so Sony prefer to sell these games on their console/store. They sell it on their console where they get 100% of its revenu, apply discounts and price drops, and after it to include them on PS Plus and Now. Once totally milked, they release it on PC. Since they are released some years after launch and since not all their games get ported, they don't alienate fans and their new games still work as their top selling point for their console.

As of August of last year it had sold 19.5 million copies, and -too- early numbers seem to be on track to sell at least 4-5 millon copies on PC or at least on Steam. Pretty likely will end selling over 25 million copies, which aren't average.

Same goes with 3-6 million copies on Steam/PC, specially for being a port of an almost 4 years old game. I did a post comparing the -still too early- GoW numbers to many other popular games available on Steam and it's performing really well.

i would hold off on that. MHW sold 5m copy on pc. Rise will sell more than that. Its just that we are on slow day. And since there is no stalker 2 this February, expect that game to sell alot.

I also believe Rise will sell better in the end. I'm just laughing cause he was like a parrot saying this stuff yesterday and he was wrong.

I dont like people like that who bring other stuff, on topics that is not about them. I refrain from these, as much as possible. There was no MH here. Just god of war.

Why release Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut?
Why release Death Stranding Director's Cut?
Why remaster Spider-Man for the PlayStation 5?

Why would developers bother porting games to the Nintendo Switch that might sell less than 1 million copies throughout the year?

Game companies care about sales, even if it is just 2 million copies on a different platform.

I don't accuse people of being salty or downplaying whenever someone posts facts.

The same things happens regardless if its an xbox or playstation game, someone says something not positive and people get upset by it. The ironic thing is by replying to criticism you are just amplifying there message and turning the thread into an argument about that.

Its better to just ignore posts that upset you or you disagree with. I know its hard, I struggle doing this.

Sorry, but I can't stop myself from pointing out something that I find funny.

If you had the choice to continue buying on Playstation or a bootleg system that technically did the same thing but with half the features which would you choose?

This should be a unifying moment, no need to trip.
it's almost beautiful. One of the best games on the last 5 years, belonging to a franchise that's never graced PC before, and here it is, doing solid numbers and bringing the franchise to a new audience through a fantastic port.
Whether Sony continues to port games after the fact, or whether they port 'em day 1... this is a good time to be a PC gamer, this is a good time to be a fan of God of War, this is a good time to share one of the better PS4 experiences with friends who may have skipped back in the day.
