Friggin’ great.

It turned off while playing Elden ring, now refuses to turn on. I tried unplugging and waiting, tried a different tv and hdmi cable, nothing.

Have you tried holding the power button for 10 seconds? Although unplugging would probably have the same effect. Check the fuse in the power lead too maybe.

That blows. I hope the service turn-around is reasonable.

What games/system do you have to play in the interim?

🥲 Good luck fren. This is why I stopped buying hardware in general. I've become a huge Cloud advocate for those who can afford the internet speeds and a TV. Not my hardware, not my problem. Its been very easy for me since 2 years now. Either way, good luck, hopefully you have warranty and it can be replaced.
Seems a bit extreme. The only console I’ve ever had that’s died on me is the OG 360, 3 times. I’ve owned well over 20 consoles in total and they’ve all been put through the ringer without issue.

OP, sorry bro. Let us know what Sony’s aftercare service is like.

my ps5 disc drive died 2 weeks ago... still waiting for some info from sony, also d1 console, was always way too loud when reading discs but one day stopped reading everything... hope the warranty will cover it, otherwise will be my last sony console. I know being a d1 buyer is being like a tester, still sucks...

I am sorry but this thinking is ridiculous.I don’t buy a car can break down don’t buy a house can have problems and so on this is absolutely wrong thinking and you making your life unenjoiable.Who would take such a nonsense thinking and live after that so you don’t buy a consoles because they could break down? You also shouldn’t make children because guess what child could get sick or die in some accident you also shouldn’t leave your home because you could break your leg or so best for you is hide from this world and everything
You are taking the story of one person here or two people as validation of your thinking but what about those 10s of millions who have happy working ps5 ever thought of that?

Like others have said, please change the fuse in the plug. Also maybe a different plug socket? Youve probably done the latter im sure.

Hope you find a way to get it running

Have you tried to unplug the power cable and the HDMI aswell? wait 30' min. after that.

My launch PS5 bricked itself months ago, and refused to power on too, I don't recall if some lights turned on or not, but maybe it's a software issue, I had to access safe mode, restaured to factory settings and erase all SSD data for it to work.

People rent to avoid house issues.
People lease to avoid car issues.
People stream to avoid hardware issues.
Lots of scenarios where people choose a different option to avoid some responsibilities or pay someone to deal with them.

Ah man, that’s bullshit, sorry dude. No console should be crapping out this early in the gen. Hopefully it doesn’t become a widespread issue. Good luck to you in getting a replacement. Hopefully they are quick about it.

Replacing a gpu and replacing a console at this point is going to cost you in the same ballpark.

There are plenty of problems on consoles that you can fix yourself too by replacing parts, your narrative if way off.
It's really not the same thing, the console dies like this and you're SoL while you send it in for repair or somehow try to get a new one.
If my GPU dies I'll pop in an older one and my pc is back in use, maybe turn down some settings here and there, but I'm good while I wait for a proper replacement.
And even if the backup GPU dies, I can rely on integrated graphics to at least keep the pc usable for other things; when a pc "dies", there are just far more options to keep going/repair compared to a console.

Just use your backup console then.

Do you use external hard drives? I remember the ps5 had issues with them at launche, it should have been fixed by now but you never know.

Thats why i dont buy d1 hardware anymore.

As I said months before launch, it's an overengineered pos. I feel you. Mine is acting funny from time to time during gameplay, and I wouldn't be too surprised if that happened to me at some point, too. I get the frustration. Me personally, I'd stick with the platform and accept the annoyances. Maybe we got another 360 situation on our hands in a year or so when this genious liquid metal cooling solution shits the bed left and right.
