Let's say Konami decides to sell their IPs, which Devs would you give them to?

Metal Gear, Castlevania, Silent Hill, Suikoden, Contra, Gradius, PES (or whatever it's called now) you name it, any franchise you like from them, who would you give the IP to?

I guess I'll say a pretty obvious one, Metal Gear to Kojima Productions because well you guys know why  right?

Maybe I'll say a few others later.

People will say Castlevania to From, but it'd feel like a cop out honestly. Give it to a team that makes modern tight 2D action games like the guys behind Dead Cells or Rogue Legacy.

Edit: or obviously the Bloodstained people but I haven't played it to comment

I love the series but Metal Gear is done and finished, there shouldn’t be any other canonical episode imho so the IP can go to Activision for all I care. But please, don’t waste anymore of Kojima’s precious time on it.

I would like to see Frictional Games take on Silent Hill on another hand.

I'd give PES to 2K games. Game itself might end up being a MTX fest but at least it would have lovely graphics. Plus it's owned by Take Two which would (theoretically) have enough money to pay for the licenses so that FIFA doesn't have a monopoly on teams and leagues etc.

I was thinking given Silent Hill to Capcom but their recent Resident Evil stuff has just been kinda stupid. They brought it back with the scary vibes with RE2 remake but RE3 remake was stupid and Village is really stupid. I'd give it to Kojima, he obviously knew what he was doing with PT. I want a full-sized PT. Throw in Norman Reedus if you really must!

I'd get Sony to buy the Metal Gear Solid IP and give it to Naughty Dog since I'm sick of them doing Last of Us stuff (Uncharted is fine though). While we're at it, I'd get Guerilla to remake MGS2 and MGS3 in lovely jubbly current gen graphics.

Is this going to happen or something? I say Sony. Naughty Dog Metal Gear starring young solid snake with input from kojima, bluepoint castlevania, and Kojima productions Silent Hill. Housemarque AAA Contra.

OP forgot about Goemon.

I don't care who does it, but I really would like a Mystical Ninja 3.

The real question is would it be like the classic or that weird 3D adventure game (which I quite enjoyed) on the N64?

It's a bit like Megaman vs Megaman Legends in that way... so perhaps Capcom? Then they can do both styles.

Castlevania should go back to mercurysteam, there cable of making a 2d game and a 3d game if david ox isnt involved, contract should be given to the makers of advance wars 1 and 2 reboot (forgot there name) pes should be with the same devs and fuck knows with silent hill, dont think any dev is capable of making a good silent hill, not even kojima productions

Doesn't the rumors say that Silent Hill is going to Bloober, Annapurna, and an unnamed Japanese developer? One of them has to be good, right?

100% agree theres no reason to expand the series anymore as everything is all connected and done, only thing i can see being done is being remade and thats it

All of these to Sony: Metal Gear , Castlevania, Silent Hill, Contra. Sony will then hire Kojima or whoever is appropriate to handle all of the franchises. The rest of the franchises I don't really care what happens to them, but I NEED a new Castlevania.

Think its impossible to make a good silent hill now tbh, imo last good silent hill game was the remake of the first game on the wii, silent hill is nothing without team silent

Yeah I agree with you mate, I think Capcom would be great for any of those kind of games.

I actually still have to play the 3D Adventure one (Mystical Ninja) on the N64. It looked way more jank than Mystical Ninja 2, a game I love, but it still looks very charming and fun.

Metal Gear Solid to Kojima is a no brainer but I do think he is done with the series.
I would give it to Bend Studios responsible for the MGS clone called Syphon Filter. Days Gone has proved that they are a very talented developer.
Even better would be Naughty Dog though. I really like their story driven games. They went from the fun and colorful Uncharted to the serious, dark and depressing Last of Us. MGS falls right in between those two series.

Metal Gear -> Kojima Productions. 2nd choice Ubisoft Toronto who did Splinter Cell Blacklist
Castlevania -> Capcom. 2nd choice Platinum
Silent Hill -> Blue Box obviously. 2nd choice Remedy from Control + Alan Wake , 3rd choice Tango Gameworks from Evil Within, 4th choice Monolith from FEAR 1+2.

As for the rest I don't really care.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
All to Kojima Pro
Now I'm not saying Kojima has to direct all of them.
But Silent Hill, Castlevania & MGS would be good under KPro.
Kojima Pro has already be involved in all of those IP's
Castlevania LOS was supervised by Kjpro and that was my favorite, maybe if they was involved in the sequel it wouldn't have turned out like it did.

  • Kojima's Studio will attempt to buy Metal Gear, but Konami will sell it instead to the highest bidder. I'm thinking Best case scenario, Sony (and then give it to Kojima or Nauty Dog). Worst case scenario Microsoft or Activision.
  • Castlevania should be sold to Iga, but since he's unlikelly to have the money, I'm thinking Nintendo, Microsoft, or Some unexpected duble AA dev.
  • Silent Hill needs a scenario heavy studio that doubles in horror. I'm thinking Nauty Dog through Sony. Otherwise Supermassive Games or Ubisoft.
  • Suikoden will be picked by Nintendo, because whoever picks it will make a competitor to Fire Emblem. Otherwise Namco, Scenix or Capcom. Hoping for CD project red.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh will be picked by Sony or even Valve, unless Konami clearly avoids a specific platform, as they'll still be selling the cards.
  • BomberMan looks like a Namco, Capcom or even Sega game. Western devs won't attempt it after the Act Zero fiasco.
  • Goemon will be sold to some very Japanese company like Bandai-Namco, Arc System or Team Ninja.
  • Contra is an IP that has almost been forgoten, so I'm thinking them licensing it on the cheap on some indie to revive it. Otherwise... Taito? Sega?
  • Dance Dance and Beatmania will most likelly be picked by Activision if they want to revive the plastic instruments.
  • Pro-Evolution Socker will be picked by someone who wants to compete with Fifa, so I'm thinking Activision.
  • Gradius and Parodius are abandoned both as franchises and genres, and might be given to some indie first to revive them. Or Platinum, who tried recently a Shoot Em Up with Sol Cresta.
  • As for Bloody Roar. I hope for Ark System. Though it might be Microsoft to add it to their Fighter roster with Killer Instinct.

"Capcom" could be the answer to all of them, but that would be too obvious and easy. So:

- Give Contra to the people that made Cuphead
- Give 2D Castlevania to the people that made Bloodstained.
- Give 3D Castlevania to Sony (Lords of Shadow was mostly a God of War clone anyway) or to From if you want to go more hardcore
- Give Gradius to any reputable Japanese shmup developer. Cave would be a good one. I would've said Treasure but they're likely dead.
- Shredder's Revenge was a raging success so keep doing what they're doing with Ninja Turtles. (EDIT: I know this isn't a Konami IP, but Konami was the developer/publisher associated with them during their 8-bit and 16-bit glory days)
- I'm not as wedded to Metal Gear or to Kojima as some of you seem to be, so give that to Sony, seems like a good fit.
- Goemon to... Uhhh... Arc System Works, I guess?

I’d give Bayou Billy to Avalanche.

The rest I’d give to indie developers, because they wouldn’t fuck up the franchises.

Goemon - Tengo Project
Castlevania - Motion Twin
Bomberman - Dodge Roll
Contra - Wayforward (they did it before, they can do it again)

Metal Gear & Silent Hill - Bury both in a compost heap.
