If WB had no qualms cancelling the 100m movie maybe they should cancel this as well for the tax break.

I will probably play this tho

I'll be shocked if this shit turns out a surprise like Guardians of the Galaxy.

I would like that too, I love the Arkham games so much, but combat and open world design aside, of the cutscenes we've seen all signs point towards it being bland af and nothing anywhere near the greatness of GotG which I found to have some of the best writing and delivery in a good while.

Well it's been too long since last Batman game, we've had 2 Spider-man games, an Avenerge game, and a GOTG game in between. This one doesn't look great but I hope it's good enough to scratch that Batman itch, will pick up day one.

Yep. At the very least it has coop and maybe I can find some fun in it with a friend.

I want this game to be good but I have no faith.

How in the world is combat going to be both single and coop and maintain a good difficulty unless you have a consistent ai partner if you play solo? Can you just switch players at will? Do they all exist in the city like how gta 5 did?

How do stealth missions work in co op?

The decision to go co-op is going to kill a game like this

EDIT: along with deciding to not only exclude batman, but not use the arkhamverse

Bewildering decisions all around

Will flop hard just like Batman Forever.

Who knows really.

This thing could sell off the name alone or hardcore fans that don't give a shit about forum talk etc. So I don't really know how this game will do, we've heard a lot of tough talk before on this game will flop or this game will do bad etc and the shit would go on to move records or something. I don't know how any of that co-op stuff will resonate with gamers. So its hard to tell with this one.

Hey, good for them.

But good GOD has everything they've shown looked off and dull. I really can't imagine this will receive some positive reception. Though I could be wrong. I've looked at all the released footage and it just feels like it's missing so much.

Compared to Arkham Knight, this looks like a complete downgrade. How is it a current-gen exclusive?

I've owned this game for a few years now and I just installed it last weekend to push my GPU and, fucking wow... the graphics are insane and it seems more optimized and DOING more within each passing frame, than games that do much less and tax the hell out of my GPU. Correct me if I am wrong about the optimization part, but for me, that's been the experience with this game versus others of similar quality.

Arkham Knight is a 2015 title running on UE4 and it looks much more current-gen than the upcoming Gotham Knights game that is running on UE5 and optimized for hardware that is a whole generation ahead in specs. It just doesn't make sense. Did they deliberately change the art style to be more cartoony?

Well, I don't think God Tier Rocksteady worked on this. This was done by WB Montreal and the most notable title that came from them was Arkham Origins, if I am not mistaken.

So, good for the team and all that. I know it's been delayed a few times, and COVID has made production a lot harder. But, other than pressing a disc that will be out-of-date the day of release, what does "going gold" even mean anymore, in this day and age?

The team's already working on patches, DLC, expansions, etc. It's not like they're getting a vacation and can start working on a new game!

It is not running on Unreal Engine 5.
Plus it started development as a cross-gen game. We had this discussion before.

You're right, it still running on UE4, but an iteration of UE4 far more advanced than what was available back in 2015. And to your second point, even if it started off as a cross-gen title, there's no excuse for it to look worse than Arkham Knight.

lol, AK doesnt even run on UE 4. it's a modified version of Unreal Engine 3 (believe it or not)

Rocksteady are freaking wizards

Let's see the DF deep dive on release. You could be right, but let's see how it turns out. I didn't play Arkham Knight, but from what I've seen of Gotham Knights, I'm cautiously optimistic it'll turn out.

Plus, depending on the sheer size and scale of the open world, it may be that it isn't really a good comparison to make.
