Scared shitless of spiders, but would regret not trying this Obsidian title.
Combat looks like the same uber basic stuff that every survival has, same for the production values that don't exactly scream high budget.I'm really excited for this. The early access version I played was great, it was was just missing content.
As noted in some of the reviews, Grounded is more polished and refined than the average survival game. It also has a unique setting and seems to have an interesting story which is missing in most of the survival games I've played.

Obsidian don't miss
The Outer Worlds has a 85 MC score and POE2 has a 88 MC score.... So yea, they don't miss lol.Y’know, aside from Pillars of Eternity 2 and Outer Worlds - there two most recent games that were utter trash.
They quickly kicked out the talented writers which is what made Obsidian so damn good. They certainly weren’t fantastic from a gameplay perspective as most of their games were pretty barebones in gameplay or just copied wholesale from whatever company made the previous entry (Fallout 3, Kotor 2).
Same here for me. I've been waiting for the retail release of this game. I played it a bit in early access and liked it, but I decided I wanted to wait and play it when the full game came out. Now there's too many games I want to play at the same time. Will play once I'm done with Deathloop.
on steam the score is very positiveDoes anyone take Jez/Windows Central review scores seriously? I know they get rated on meta, but I've also heard dude speak in podcasts and on social media.
It's perfectly fine solo, though definitely more fun with a group. No reason to take on an Orb Weaver in the first hour.So you're saying playing this solo this is as good as Subnautica? I play this early access and it didn't seem better than anything, things must have changed dramatically.
Gamespot review:
This sounds like bad game design. It's exactly the issues I had with it early on.
Man I swear I think I played this game before this year or something similar . Where you are smaller than bugs. Am I missing something here ? Was it a beta or something
On a serious note you should try and work on that fear of bugs thing. No way, can't go the pussy route on this one. Gotta see the real thing. I would feel silly fighting something less scary.
Hmmm so like the forest right? cool.Yes. It has a detailed and expansive story. You can play how you want though but exploration is the main drive in game progression. You'll examine and upgrade tools, gear, building assets. Things lurk around high and low of which include both living and in resource (materials). The overworld map is large but not daunting. There's no timer nor rush, you progress the game as you wish by completing objectives.
Does anyone take your contributions to Xbox threads seriously? It's all about their movements, speed and sound. Spiders in Grounded are 100x more terrifying than the one here or any other game for that matter. Are you people scared by cartoony looking spider?
What about stuff like this
Worse than spiders in horror games? It's all about their movements and sound. Spiders in Grounded are 100x more terrifying than the one here or any other game for that matter.
Yeah its pretty terrifying tbh.Worse than spiders in horror games?
Now i'm curious.

The game does a good job on setting up your place in the whole food chain. You know, you can be killed by a pack of ants if not careful at the beginning of the game, so when you first hear those creepy big spiders and then see them, you just know what to do and that is to get the hell out. Also, their appearances are not scripted, so you can meet them in all kind of different ways and hopefully not in some damp, dark cave.Worse than spiders in horror games?

Are you forced to build a home in this game? The game does a good job on setting up your place in the whole food chain. It started as a side project of 10 guys, but recently they said this game become a project with a dedicated full team (more than 10 surely).Obsidian showing their worth and this was a team of like 10 guys that worked on this insane. Glad it reviewed well if Microsoft is smart they’ll pump more money and resources into this and have the second iteration be bigger and more fleshed out.
No more or less than any other site that is aligned with a particular brand. WC has given out lower review scores for some MS games though. Looked up Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves and WC gave them scores of 60 and 70, respectively.
Can't say. From what I have played, building a home wasn't necessary. Just a tent to sleep and stations to build armor, weapons, etc.Are you forced to build a home in this game?
(i hate building stuff)
There’s way too much to address here but for starters are you really saying that New Vegas was, I quote, copied wholesale from Fallout 3? This is your serious take?Y’know, aside from Pillars of Eternity 2 and Outer Worlds - there two most recent games that were utter trash.

This is factual but in the specific case of Jez/WC Jez I believe they had no choice due to how the games were received across the board. Jez was calling SOT the next PUBG on YT and social media. Which is when I first noticed him.
But you're correct. Some sites do rate some games higher. I guess my question about WC in particular, stems from the fact that Jez/WC telegraph their bias on youtube and social media.
So if they give a MS game a good review score then it is because they are biased and if they give a MS game a bad review score then it is because they had no choice?
can’t tell you how many times me and my bro would be scavenging at night then I see my mans dipping saying “run, run, RUN” an you can see the spider knocking the tall blades of grass while my bro is being Tarzan jumping from grass to rocks to grass, with the spider sprinting towards you shooting spider webs at you. Praying we can shake the spider off before we get back to our base and it literally knocks the walls down killing us. Shits never not terrifying ngl lol.Scared shitless of spiders, but would regret not trying this Obsidian title.
Listen to Jez on podcasts and read some of his infamous postings on social media. I'm just pointing to the parallels in his statements, sometimes months before review copies are sent, and his reviews.
It's not an XBOX thing, just pointing out the overt and blatant bias in how some of these sites give review scores. It's not XB/PS/Nintendo/PC specific.

What else are we supposed to go on? Your opinion?Ah yes, the warrior's toolbox. Using Metacritic as an indicator of quality.
It’s weird that you single out Jez out of all the people. The guy is clearly a fan of MS but he’s also honest and gives them hell when they fuck up.

It's weird that you felt the need to point that out. Does an Xbox game getting good reviews bother you that much? Weren't you claiming to be a Series X owner in another thread and asking for upcoming Xbox games to play? Well here you go, here's one that's getting very good reviews and has great user feedback. The fact that the first thing you did in this thread was attack the reviews tells me that you probably weren't be honest earlier though.Listen to Jez on podcasts and read some of his infamous postings on social media.
