Just because it is a game from a popular franchise doesn’t mean a guaranteed success. A lot of factors led to the game success most a great game over all. What is funny is that one of the factors that led to the success is people who would never checked out the game if it not for the calls for boycotts. So in a way they participated in the game success.

That's a fair point. They definitely brought attention to it. The overlap in the venn diagram of fans who were also gamers and those who weren't definitely got bigger with all the stupidity around it.

Also a fair point. Avengers is a good example of that. I just think this is a fanbase that has been starving for good content for a while now, and they probably thought they weren't going to get it with J.K. Rowling's situation and Ezra Miller terrorizing America last year. Seeing the positivity around what is just a flat out good game is sure to bring in more people, and they have a huge pool to draw from.
