Before I even clicked into the thread I knew that the devs gave them the 'secondary PS3 faces' treatment. WWE does the same thing for wrestlers who are not current day main attractions.

I think it's more due to the fact that most of these guys grew up playing FIFA, so they accept shit faces just as a part of the games. It's only in recent years that realistic photoscanned faces have been put in the game, and even then it's usually only for the big sponsored stars and clubs.
They do have the tech to make these women look better. They probably didn't bother because, whisper it, practically no-one uses the women's teams
