Am I crazy, or is Diablo 4 kinda meh?

I played the beta with a Sorc up to lvl 25 and I didn't really like it. Then in the second beta a Barb to lvl 20 again not really mine. Now with the release I play a Necro lvl 33. and I also do not really like him.
All the skills visually and also from umpf her have appealed to me more in D3. The enemies flew through the area and you felt powerful.

In D4 since the opponents level with you I hardly notice the progress. The new skill tree I also do not really like, I liked it much more that I could completely re-skill myself at any time in D3.
In addition, i can see almost nothing with my necro, because the skills and the undead block each other and I very often do not know where I am at all.

This open world is somehow not very exciting either.
The other players are there but, the purpose in it I have not really seen now. The only thing I really like so far is the story and the cutscenes. Unfortunately, the rest is not very good.

My character is not visible at all when I use my abilities. I already had to lower the difficulty because of that.

Ok, maybe because 2 was better? What percentage of people say 3 is better than 4?
Don't know, but its not hard to find people let down by it in reddit or blizzard forums

It's just reskin d3 really, or reforge.
This game feels really like a letdown. Reminds me more of a chorelike immortal without the paying.
D4 is great don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t feel like a good predecessor to D3. The story is super mediocre, the gameplay is repetitive and results isn a left click right click simulator with the odd tap of 1-4 keys. It’s fun, but to me it doesn’t land anywhere near Diablo 3, especially when it comes down to the main story
I re-installed Diablo 3 and everything looks so much better. Even though there’s less detail in the character models and equipment, they actually look so much better. It may be that the camera is zoomed out further, but my characters look so much better in game. The spell effects look better, and the environments, although i think the graphics are lower quality, they all look so much better.

Well yes, as usual those who do not like it will voice their opinions the loudest, while those enjoying it are the quietest because they are enjoying it. It's also typical of the vocal discouraged or disappointed to be a bit hyperbole in order to get their point across of dislike.
I had no idea, thx.
In the gameplay options I believe, or accessibility. When you first started the game it should have popped up with accessibility options, one of which was highlighting your player.

Though I will say, Necro having a busy screen is quite literally what Necro's are best known for. They have massive area damage abilities, and Blizzard have ramped up the explosiveness to give it some real impact. I'm personally enjoying everything there is to the world, it feels so much more alive and artistically "dead" then ever before.

Plus the skill trees are so good. Not overwhelming but not limited in customisation, plus for Necro the book of the dead is a fantastic idea.

I literally just turned it off because it was boring. The game has a distinct meh feeling about it and I think it will become a common talking point over the next week.

Glad I picked up SF6 as well. That’s where I’m at.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
game looks very grindy and most of all, the awful level scaling.

Watch some streamers playing the game everyday, and his character always plays the same.
I did not see a sense of growth in the game.

Also played the beta and the open world aspect was one of my least favorite - and I don't like that they've implemented scaling as a result to compliment their dedicated to the open world. Still haven't bought it due to the reservations that developed while playing the beta, even though the presentation and gameplay was better than I expected based on how much I disliked Diablo III.

I played today for about 5 hours, I play for the Necromancer, because I always played for him with D2 and in D3 too, I never got tired of the game this despite, in fact that I still actively play in POE and go through the leagues ... Perhaps something is wrong with me or already too old, but the game is really very boring.

Did they add a zoom out option yet since the beta? If not, screw that game until they can add accessibility and playability options before their awful micro transactions.

It's like when people claim games had soul back in the day.

No, the games haven't changed and they never had soul. But YOU DID.
this is the dumbest take ever

Valheim has soul, it is one of the best games I have ever played. Elden Ring has soul, and it is one of the best games I have ever played.

I didn't play Souls games until 2019, when I was 24, and they had as much of an impact on me as WoW had in 2005.

My soul has not died. People with shit opinions and taste has just become the majority of players.

I enjoyed Diablo 2 and 3 on Switch where controller was a option. Diablo Immortal was also enjoyable on PC via Controller.

Diablo 4 likewise also fun on controller.

Honorable mentions to Titan Quest and Grim Dawn.

Although I find it amusing with the Diablo 2 crowd that says the game is too repetitive or grindy but they get all excited about 1000 back to back Mephisto runs. Like eh.

Not a fan of Path of Exile where most builds is basically turn your character into a pulsing AoE and just walks through rooms with bullet hell explosions watching everything die. That's the epitome of boring.

I love this game. Can't get enough of it.

And at Tier 2 it's challenging me to use strategy. D3 bored me to sleep, but D4 is miles better in pretty much every respect.

..btw, I recently played Grim Dawn and it was awesome.

I don't think you're crazy if you don't like it. Personal tastes are just that.

For example, I just watched the gameplay of FF16 and, to me, it looks meh as fuck. However, I'm happy for those who are looking forward to it as it looks like they're going to get a polished, fun game. Just not one that I'd enjoy. 🤷‍♂️
