Steam will be 20 years old on September 12th, will Valve announce anything?

What will Valve do for Steam's 20th Birthday?

in 20 years people will say the same thing about epic, it was shit on at the beginning just like steam was
Let's hope so because right now it's nothing more than a glorified launcher that bribes people into getting them to invest in the platform. It's still early days of course but a competitor to Steam it certainly ain't.

New backgrounds, animated profile backgrounds/avatars/frames to celebrate the occasion. A sale seems like a non-brainer. Counterstrike 2 should go live soon, maybe they're holding on to it for another 4 weeks for the 20'th anniversary?

I'd love to see them revealing a new more powerful Deck device with a console form factor. The Steam Deck had a positive influence on the industry and now everyone and their dog are developing handheld PCs. A console type unit could kick off something similar.

Nothing.

We have more chance of the Rapture happening than Valve announcing HL3.

I'd love to see a remaster of the Orange Box on PC and consoles (but this time with HL1 included), but that's unlikely.

Built my first gaming pc to get into the Half Life series starting with HL2.
19 years has flown by. Would love them to create a retro skin for it.

They'll definitely tease us with some Half Life shit, so we can all get our hopes up again for another 15+ years, just to be ultimately disappointed in the end yet again. Our suffering must sustain Gabe.

I didnt join up with Steam for years as I was so pissed off the platform destroyed the PC physical market, I was livid and quite shocked at just how quick people threw themselves at it..

Years later, 900+ games on the damn thing.

But i'll never forget, Valve...!!
Today, same happens with those zealots who are in Epic denial.

They will announce Valve Deckard VR headset on September 12th, just 2 weeks before the release of the Quest 3, and it will pour down a cold shower on anyone thinking of splurging money on Meta Quest 3.

Comes packed with Half Life Alyx 2

Which is Half Life 3

Still on hopium that Valve can actually count to three, with the Half Life series. Or at least finish where they started with the second story.

honestly, no one sensationalizes birthdays/anniversarys more than fckin gamers.

its weird, pedantic, and dare I say slightly on the spectrum

This is my biggest hope! I would love an official retro green or even complete retro skin for Steam. Also one for SteamDeck while they are at it.

Half Life 2 is what got me to make my first account, but that was lost to time and multiple moves/hacked account attempts. I gave my second account to my youngest brother and made a new one. Starting over with a 1 year badge at the moment.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
The first game I activated was a Half-Life key shared among a small group of friends up to that point :messenger_smiling_horns:

Looks like my badge will update alongside Steam itself, not a day later :messenger_beaming:
