Wow, no wonder a bomba licensed game can destroy a studio. Im glad ms used a c tier marvel char like blade I wonder how much that cost vs xmen?

Not sure why I got it into my head that the agreement for Spiderman would resemble this. These fees are just the x-men negotiation the spiderman deal may be completely different, especially as it was made before the Insomniac Marvel games were a proven success.

And just like that we know why sony pushes for digital. Marvel gets more royalties from physical releases.

And it’s insane how much money marvel gets.

Just make you own new ip. Why make this licensed marvel shit. Make new fucking stuff. What a waste of money to pay them.
Budgets are bigger, the stakes are higher and it’s super risky to release a flop which is why they prefer to lean on already popular marvel IPs.

They have basically been doing both, Horizon (we just got the sequel), Returnal and Ghost of Tsushima are new IPs

6 Million sell through requirement is interesting. Should be an attainable requirements with current user base.

My main takeaway from all this is that the PC version already confirmed.

Does this mean that we’re not getting a modern port of Marvel vs Capcom 2 or a MvC4 anytime soon?

Now that Disney's "Kang-verse" movie series is in ruins (they dropped him after conviction), I suspect they will accelerate their X-Men plans and devote major resources to X-Men promotion on all fronts.
This deal was good timing by Sony.

They’re still not doing anything non-Fox X-Men until after Secret Wars in 2028. Until then, it’s the Fox characters in MCU via the multiverse.

They have other media.
The comics can turn on a dime. They can do new animated shows. Whatever.
Anything to try to amplify the X-Men.
As opposed to attempting to erase the X-Men entirely, which is what they were doing the entire time they were owned by FOX.

Spiderman games would be a totally different deal due to Sony already owning the movie rights to Spiderman and all of its 900 characters.

Insomniac made their own stuff for years before Spiderman. It led to them almost drowning. Marvel saved the studio.

Will be interesting to see if their Xmen game sells 6m. That’s not the loftiest target but IMO Xmen doesn’t have the same mainstream appeal as Spider-Man.
Always figured X-men like Fantastic 4 was a lame license resulting in a string of mostly box office failures.
Suppose they will launch the game to coincide with a new female-centric X-person reboot.

The royalties look industry standard. Maybe seeing them in print form is surprising to some but these terms are pretty standardized.

I just think it's extremely out of touch to sign a 10yo VERY VERY VERY expensive contract with Marvel... now that everyone is tired of marvel and the super heroes shlock.
At least it's x-men so it's not as tired as classic characters.... but I was never a fan of MCU connected universe. Imo X-MEN/Wolverine hould absolutely not exist in the same universe as spider man and avengers.

Why? They are in the same comic universe.

It's stupid. It's too much. I hate to think there is a worl in which x-men fight with their own world ending event and avengers sit around or fight with their world ending event.
I loved X-Men movies. Imo way better than MCU.
Or Blade? Fantastic. He would be just some weak fool if iron man also exists

So it's not just wolverine rights. Sony have the exclusive rights to X-Men games until 2035. X-Men characters can still appear in multiplatform games like a Lego or Avengers game.
That 2035 may just be a placeholder date. There are times in my occupation when a specific date and time cannot be set, then the placeholder year is 2035. Pure speculation, of course.

So now you all of a sudden have "concern" about Disney fucking up your Marvel.

I wonder what changed?
Quantumania was as good as a root canal. They’re focusing on the female characters in the X-Men movie with Sinister as the villain. Fantastic Four isn’t part of the main MCU. Gunn’s DC stuff is more exciting, although I expect rage from the internet if who his Batman is turns out to be true.

BTW, your comment has made it in this Jaffe's video discussing this leak I've posted here :messenger_grinning_sweat: :messenger_tears_of_joy: .

People still care about the classic characters. They don't care about the niche ones Marvels wants to push.

No Indiana Jones concern after that turd Disney fucked up and shit out and the mediocrity the dev/pub house has been churning lately? No Redfall dev house Blade concern?

Funny you mention DC, the last couple of games slapped. Right?

Eh....I don't follow that at all. Xmen was about mutant persecution. Avengers was part of a huge arc ending in the Infinity Wars. I liked them both, but they were very different and I see no reason why they shouldn't coexist. Agree to disagree.

Not talking about games. Was talking about the movies.

Insomniac was the drowning beachgoer.

Sony was David Hasselhoff.

Marvel was that little red plastic flotation device on a string attached to Hasselhoff.
Why make up silly narratives that aren't true?

They're one of, if not the most consistent/efficient developer out there at the moment, most definitely for Sony.

Sony made the bargain of the decade with how little they spent on the acquisition.

Why do people always get confused with this whole "If Flash and Superman exist, how can Batman have a job?"

It doesn't matter.

Wolverine is the main draw. Who cares about the X-Men? I never even bothered watching the last movies and I was the target audience for that years ago.
Idk man an M-rated X-Men game with Cyclops would be pretty sick.
