It depends on my mood, personally, but which gaming genre do you like the most?

EDIT: If you have other choices, list in the comments.

Platformers for sure. Also Metroidvanias.

Strategy and in particular Grand Strategy for me. Nothing like conquering Europe or Asia over a few hundred year period. 🧐

This is followed by RPGs (CRPGs, great Western RPGs aka KCD 1&2, ME series).

I'm not sure I really have one, but my least favorite genre is strategy as I'm completely inept at playing them.

multiple choice would have been better.

I like RPG, shooter, strategy and sports.

I dont like fighting, platformer, puzzle and rhymes.

Other - detective genre, and they may come from plentiful of gameplay, like LA Noire, Judgement from Sega, Raidou from atlus, Layton, Ace attorney, hotel dusk, disco elysium, or simple point and click games like paranormasight or detective pikachu.

I don't love pure RPGs as much, but I love games that mix genres and have RPG progression (Igavanias, FPSs, ARPGs, open world, etc.) If I'm gradually unlocking gear or powers while also having some degree of choice and a good movement system, I'm a happy gamer.

The answer is, more and more these days, Metroidvanias. OTher than that, I love action/adventure games, but the recent deluge of (Sony) 3rd person narrative movie games from Sony has me getting a bit bored of them. I love Fromsoft games, but my patience for the megahard bosses and beating my face against a wall over and over till I beat it is getting a bit long in the tooth, but I love everything else about those games and it's not enough to turn me off of them.

Metroidvanias just kind of tick all of the boxes for me lately and they're all i find myself wanting to play. I'm looking forward to Crimson Desert but I'm not sold it'll be any good. Waiting for reviews.

CRPGs or Immersive sim

Being hard to make and usually not being as profitable as other genres at least comes with the upside of meaning theyre nearly all great passion project that arent ruined by investors.

No, for real, I don't think I could possibly pick a favorite as I play such a wide range of games and genres but I generally love:

Shooters
RPG
Action Adventure
Strategy
Sports
Survival
Racing

Not sure if thats a joke, but I actually adore these economy simulators as well. (SimCity, Cities Skylines, Transport Fever etc.)
Not exactly a joke. I do love the simpler ones, like Lemonade Stand, SimGangster, etc. Single screen games, basically.
But, honestly, my favorite genre would be FPS immersive sims (all five of them).

Over the shoulder, story driven, cinematic, incredible graphics + simple effective gameplay..

Or

Amazing artstyle, open immersive world, action/fantasy combo.

Or

Pure fucking combat driven, everything else secondary.

Depends on my mood and what Im feeling. I love all of these equally

Definitely RPGs. Has been my favorite genre for over 40 years now.

Not sure if thats a joke, but I actually adore these economy simulators as well. (SimCity, Cities Skylines, Transport Fever etc.)

Nr.1 -Adventures/Point&Click/ Exploration basically. Where i like the atmosphere ofc. (Mostly Japanese type of games)

-Games where you just fukk all enemies up with great satisfaction & stress lowering effect

-Where i can let my Minions/Summons fight for me or besides me.
& Tower Defense

- Scary games that can be played coop.

J-rpgs, c-rpgs, action rpgs, mmorpgs , tactical rpgs . Before games like Super Mario RPG and Phantasy Star 4 peaked my interest in the genre then FF7 and Xenogears cemented it I used to love fighting , puzzle, side scrollers and generally loved going to the arcades and playing everything
