Gears of War E-Day Launches October 6, 2026 as an Xbox console exclusive

Fair, but--

If you look at data, you can see invariably that sales of the majority of the PS5 ports of the titles so far have sold very well(particularly Forza).

So if your purpose is to make Xbox profitable again or increase software sales, what evidence is there that removing a singular game but keeping all the others will avail your struggles and help your bottom line?
It won't. This half in half out strategy doesn't work. Being fully exclusive wasn't even working for them.

Like everything went it comes to Xbox look for them to reverse this decision a year from now when their quarterly revenue keeps dropping.

They probably have 20 mil people paying a monthly sub. If they drive them to ps5 they lose them forever.

And ps5 ports mostly flopped. Only Fh5 did big numbers. Like Sony on PC nobody was buying their games. Why risk losing subscribers?

They're specifically saying it's not timed too.

Well i personally think they are doing this to give Helix the best possible chance to sell. If it doesnt sell, they will go back to releasing on everything.

Same way Sony flip flopped on PC ports with PS6 coming up.

That's my point. I don't see it doing what they hope for. Sure, Helix, but if Helix rolls in at a big ticket price, will it matter?

I saw over on the other site that someone reputable confirmed they know someone working on E-Day and stated they had a "past all major milestones PS5 version".

You also can no longer make the argument that there is "Nothing like Gears on PS" because it literally is on it, to an extent.

Choosing a game at random to appease a small vocal group is a strange choice when you think about it.

They flopped and only Forza did big numbers? None of the others made a difference?

Are you absolutely certain you want to stand by that statement?

Game looks really disappointing graphics wise. Especially when you compare it to Metro 2039 which looks like 2 generations ahead.
What you don't like guns magically stick to leather coats?

It's still the same fucking game as it was on xbox360?

What what?

If this shit is xbox store pc exclusive… gl 🤣

Interesting move from Asha. With Xbox hardware sales in decline and an existing user base fully trained to expect everything on Game Pass, locking Gears of War: E-Day as a console exclusive feels like a step back. That is a massive amount of full-priced PS5 sales left on the table.

Xbox already tried the hardline exclusivity tactic during the early Series X/S generation under Phil before pivoting to multi-platform releases. It's hard to see what has changed enough internally to make a sudden pivot back to exclusivity a winning strategy this time around.
So just buy the game or subscribe to Game Pass and play it on XBOX or PC or just get one of those platforms if you don't own one already.

I like the theme of the beginning of the invasion but the gameplay look about the fucking same and grapically i was expecting more for being such a restricted game in ue5 (but it could just be bad yt compression)

Probably gonna buy a month of gamepass to try it or wait until it's 15-20 euros.

If that were true nearly everything else, specifically their biggest franchise wouldn't be coming to PS5

It's clear there is a loud minority, particularly online (mostly twitter) that MS wants to keep content while still making money with their 3rd party strategy.

Nobody's buying an extortionate console/PC like Helix for one exclusive a year. Asha's right that if they want a healthy console it has to have exclusives, but you also have to have an affordable machine. I just don't understand wtf they're playing at. Helix cannot compete with PS6 if it's like double the price. It's just impossible.

the only reason console sales are down right now is cuz the Xbox is too damn expensive

A great point and quite valid, though it applies to *both* right now. PS5 sales summarily dropped off a cliff with the recent price hikes, not unlike Xbox.

There is a wall that people will not go past when it comes to a gaming console and we're seeing it even now. Seeing it in other areas(fast food, name brand groceries, etc. )

$1000 console is absolutely cooked on either side.

? Nobody said they would. I was only implying it will come to PS5 at some point
sadly I don't think it will and it's really a trash decision
having games on PS5 will not hinder console sales
people still want to buy an Xbox for Game Pass which is a better service than PlayStation extra

I don't think you're in any danger of losing Bethesda games or Minecraft on ps5. They probably signed deals for Halo and Fh6 etc already. Looks like they really pulled the plug on Gears ps5 at the last minute too.

Gears of War 1 remastered must have sold like shit on PS5

My point wasn't just to issue a rebuttal to your claim, but also to show that this doesn't make *financial* sense, either, which is all they(MS) cares about. That's all Satya cares about and Asya might be granted a one-off here, as she's new, but if it comes in under the margins HE(and corporate MS) wants?

She will be overruled.

That's why this whole switcheroo even happened a while back.

looked great, brings back old memories, peak of the xbox show for me
C.O. is a dyke.

And I bet we get a gay/trans character thrown in somewhere in there. Maybe they even turn Marcus and Dom into former lovers and add a spicy gay scene.
