My Little Pony FiM Season 2 |OT| - Quality Has No Demographic

You know what I didn't get? Why didn't the Canterlot ponies recognize Twilight? The personal apprentice of the princess seems like someone they would know about. Did Celestia keep her teaching a secret?

You'd think Twilight would be famous. Just as you would think Rainbow Dash would be famous enough after the Young Flier competition so Rarity wouldn't have to lie about her. Unfortunately, I think the series isn't going to address things like this due to Hasbro's mandate that the episodes be mostly independent of each other.

Entire episode a dream confirmed.

I think they may have been putting Derpy in every episode this season, but this is the closest I could find for this one:

(Oh look, she's with Blueblood.)

The Gala episode refers to Art of the Dress and Sonic Rainboom. Owlowicious isn't introduced until near the end of Season 1, but appeared few weeks ago. They aren't that strict about it. Twilight and RD are just not that important.

And she's even wearing the paper bag costume! Derpy truly is the classiest pony of all.

I wonder if they're going to do another multi-episode (non two-parter) storyline again like in season 1 (The Ticket Master > Suited For Success > The Best Night Ever). They can have continuity if they want.

But it's better to think that the creators aren't allowed to have continuity, rather than facing the idea that they don't care or think it's worth it for a kids show to have logical consistency like that.

2 spaces to the right of Rarity, classy Bon Bon?

Rarity is like, the shittiest friend ever. After all the crap she pulled all it took to redeem herself was in the last minute not denying she knows her best friends? She lied to them, gave Twilight a half-assed incomplete gift which she happily accepted, and skipped out on her birthday party after trying to weasel out of it completely.

Good episode, no great episode. Rarity really works well when she's the star of an episode. Fitting, really. It's also great to see the usual "double life is exposed, now everyone is angry" story line subverted. Sure, Twilight would be understanding like that, she's a mare of logic, and more importantly a very good friend, so she knows full well how big an opportunity this is for Rarity. The surprising part is that the nobleponies also were good sports about it. And hey, leave it to Rarity to accidentally start a minimalist fashion craze. This might be the Suited for Success of season 2.

The one thing, I might add is that Rarity has an adorable blind spot towards Princess Celestia. I don't think she realizes just how many doors open for her when she's a friend of the Princess. This whole getting into the upper society? From mentioning that she's staying at the castle as Celestia's personal guest. Not a lot of ponies get to do that. In fact, judging by the reaction, it seems it's really rare for anypony to do that. And yet Celestia asked Rarity to stay, not the other way around. And this is the blindspot I'm talking about: To Rarity, it's "just" Princess Celestia. Sure, she's the ruler and Celestia commands respect, of course, but Rarity has met her enough that it's not that big a deal anymore. Compare this episode to A Bird in the Hoof from season 1.

The rest of the cast, when they finally got to Canterlot were pretty good, too. Of course Pinkie has a Party Cannon. Why wouldn't she?

Also, I expect a gif of Rarity kissing Celestia's feet to be used and/or abused to show how terrible a tyrant Celestia is.

It's a tale of extremes. She also went out of her way to make gala dresses for her friends and even when they proved picky about her designs and proposed their own terrible ideas, she went along with it.

Just came back from work, watched the episode. Best pony comes in with a sweet recovery after last week. I thought it was a fantastic episode. Rarity song? New outfits? NEW GIANT HATS!? Yes.

The end was great, very reminiscent of Best Night Ever. Those ponies sure know how to party with classy people.

Just caught it, and I was thinking of Elaine the moment Twilight started dancing. The gifs don't disappoint. :lol Poor Opalescence.

Good episode.

That is an awesome painting. Someone must have had fun doing that.

Also, at the Wonderbolts Derby, was the announcer Luna? Sounded a bit like her, but we never saw who it was, did we?

Update synopsis for the Christmas episode

In “Hearth’s Warming Eve” the six friends are honored to put on Canterlot's most important play of the season, the Hearth's Warming Eve's holiday pageant that illustrates how Unicorns, Pegasi and Earth Ponies put aside their differences and founded Equestria.

There's gonna be a coup if Celestia keeps giving these Ponies special treatment.

Prediction: Each of the 6 has a different story of how it happened and we get some funny imagination sketches, then they come to a compromise and make a goofy combination of all their ideas, fans still free to make shit up.

In Dragonshy, Spike stayed behind to watch Fluttershy's animals.

Counterpoint- that was only because they were in a time of peril. Note that in The Best night Ever, all went, with no one to watch Fluttershy's pets.

Rebuttal- Spike's there. He's at Pony Joe's. He didn't feel like attending another girl's night out. He likes big parties with all of the town there, he doesn't like to intrude on Twilight's friends party alone.

Everything is moe to me
you'd think more ponies would start to recognize rarity after working with famous fashion designers and being knighted for that time she helped stop a living avatar of chaos that was reality breaking all of equestria.

makes you wonder just what she did during that ponyville hoedown.

dunno man. i don't know shit about the town over. I don't know the names of the people who flew to the moon. I think it's great what people are doing to win wars but I don't know their names. i can't name the main actors of twilight nor recognize them in public
