Weird, I thought you were the one guy who said she was the worst singing voice because there was such a disparity (pun not intended, but serendipitous) between her singing voice and speaking voice.
This episode ROCKED. As said above, it's a pretty standard premise, but handled refreshingly well. I kept thinking, "Oh man I really hope SOMEPONY in Canterlot isn't a complete snob" which made me really happy at the end.
And ASIDE from all that quality episode stuff, we've got a TON of new ponies for fans to make names and backstories and art. Yeah I know how silly that sounds, but I just can't help but be excited, sue me. My sister and I actually cheered out loud over Octavia's brief appearance. She also loved seeing Rarity's different hairstyles (manestyles?). I figured if fans went gaga for Rarity's "wet mane" from Sisterhooves Social, imagine all the stuff this will cause. Also...
Matt Smith pony confirmed? I was going jump on the 5th Doctor Whooves playing Croquet was relevant, but then I looked it up and found it was Cricket the 5th Doctor was known for, not croquet. My bad.

So I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Fancy pants was inspired by Errol Flynn. And the Pink haired Pony was a take off his first wife, Lili Damita, a french actress.

At the Gala, some high-class ponies may have wondered who was standing next to Celestia in the greeting line, but probably thought nothing of it. Just some dying pony from the make a wish foundation or something. Not a potential threat or advantage to their ladder-climbing.
The general crowd might not recognize the mane 6 from "just saved the world" medal ceremonies, because they're not household names. If they introduced themselves as heroes, they might get some "oh right, I saw that" recognition.
And even if she got into the Wonderbolts, the general public wouldn't really know her apart from other team members.
Although you're right, that Rarity didn't have to lie about who Rainbow Dash was. Rainbow Dash is a friend who knows the sport extensively. That's all she needed to say.
I think Celestia maintained a certain regal distance, and while she gave Twilight the Canterlot Library and a private two-way dragon communication link to a world ruler, all anybody from Twilight's school knew about her was that she was an under-the-radar book nerd. Nobody bothered to know her well enough to realize she was Celestia's protege.

That was an amateur-level contest in Cloudsdale. Likely only remembered by sporting enthusiasts, and an effective but ultimately irrelevant credit to put on a Wonderbolt application form.

You could say maybe after seeing the 11th, 5th and the original 10th doctor. But seeing how theyve done the 3rd one, its totally obvious they are doing it intentionally.
Because that one its as similar as the exact parodies of the great lebowski characters in the cutie pox episode.

I'm thinking Doctor Whooves was probably just a coincidence (especially since they didn't bother with the British accent), but like many of the fandom jokes, I think it's just the animators going with it.

Yes, im pretty sure the first one was just a coincidende. The other three done in the Rarity episode are obviously done by animators going along with the joke.
I found i really fun, so I hope they continue with this small and fun easter eggs.

Well, #5 there was around at the Grand Galopping Gala and most people figured he was #5.

I'm just saying the first one was probably a coincidence. They had the model talk twice, and neither had a British accent. I think the animators are just going with it, and now just doing it intentionally.

Im sorry, Doctor Who has just started to be in air here since the 10th doctor, and I think they started this year. I never knew about the series until some years ago reading about it on GAF.
No, the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, is the scarfed one, as seen here:
An episode starring Doctor Whooves, or Derpy, or Vinyl Scratch would be awesome, but it's clearly never gonna happen.

As said above. #4 had the scarf but that scarf pretty much became as much a mark of Doctor Who as the TARDIS. It's something a lot of people will associate with the show.
