Dailymotion does have some weird shit on it, but then again so does youtube.

Wasn't the youtube thing on XBL severely gimp because of that?

Youtube is pretty much gimped on most things other than its own site. The YT Droid app doesn't show me music videos for certain artists prolly cuz they filter that out.

Quick Look: The Kore Gang (32:01) (Ryan, Jeff)

Remember way back when the Wii didn't have any games and we had a thread about this game on GAF?

Well the Wii has games now.

Creatures from underground kidnap a scientist.
Wait.... is this game a prequel to Gears of War?

edit: Watching this quick look further there is also floating creature blimp things, Ryan pointed out the Gears of War resembles here lol.
That kid's suit (or suite) seems a lot like a Silverback... hmmmmm.

The Kore Gang really is a look into the past: the crappy and ugly western 3D platformers released on the Xbox. It is so Xbox.

No other game is better for kids in 2011. No other game.

I need a new platform, I'll rent Vexx... but if its crap Brobzoid, then you will have questions to answer.

if it fails to live up to the furious hype I whipped up in you, I will submit to a spanking in a locale of your choosing and answer any questions you may have for the duration.

>:o

Vexx was great!!

It was plain, generic, and boring even back in '02 or whatever. It was only "great" if you hadn't experienced the slew of 3d platformers that came out on the n64.

Also it was around the time when shit started to get "dark" and "edgy". So that was pretty lame.

It was plain and generic (no gimmicks. HUA!), that's true. It doesn't stand against Jak & Daxter particularly well for instance - but I thought it was fun for it's combat and platforming. It does the whole 'collect-a-bunch-of-X' like so many B-tier platformers of that day, but it's straight forward and fun in a very non-challenging way. A very comforting game in that sense. And you are correct, I did not experience the slew of 3d platformers that came out on the n64. I also enjoyed Haven. This is how I live my life.

That pretty much tells you what's currently going on (or not going on) in Germany when it comes to game development.

I blame Facebook.

Yeah the german game development community is kinda down the shitter. To me it sometimes feels like the only real "respectable" dev we have is Crytek.

You are entitled to it. Continue on brother. Whatever makes you happy, makes me happy.

Recently, I spoke with a remote acquaintance (he shall remain nameless) who works at Goodgames. He was basically at the same get-together I was hanging out at. He confessed that they're pretty much completely dedicated to getting shit done like Zynga does. Fart out subpar Flash games with that neurological twist, then rake in money because people can't stand waiting for crops to grow. His words, almost verbatim.

So what he said after I let out a tirade about idealism and the indie spirit, the future of gaming, integrity and all that was "I'm a software developer, and that's what I'm doing here, so it's cool, and I get paid; yeah, the games are shit, but they generate money; I could as well code business software and would be just fine". I mean, I get what he's saying, but for fuck's sake, bring some idealism to the table. Don't waste your time as a developer with games you hate as a gamer.

That's a German developer for ya. It's frustrating as hell to be in the same bucket with such people.

And then these fake German game development associations that only let mobile / social games developers in. They're really trying to breed developers who only do scientifically based exploitation with cutesy graphics for as little money as possible. Those dicks give lectures at unis to punch the souls out of the students with money.

Fuck that shit, seriously.

That is probably the worst part. They are really trying to kill all ambition right from the start. It's sad, it wasn't always this bad, 90s PC gaming era was pretty good. I still remember Bluebyte fondly. What are they doing now except shitting out a new Settlers game every year? :(

Well, ambition alone isn't going to get you anywhere, especially with this much competition around.

We have a bunch still hanging on from way back and some recent arrivals, though I suppose none are quite as ambitious or outward looking as Crytek. Blue Byte, Piranha Bytes, Egosoft, Related Designs, Spellbound, Kalypso and its studios, etc.
Kinda sad to go through the list on Wikipedia though. All too many entries start in the past tense. edit: Oh, and related to the above, there are quite a few browsergame developers on the list.

Holy wow, this actually came out?

...what took so long? I mean seriously, how did this take THAT long to make?

It also upsets me that this is one of the few 3D mascot platformers coming out any time soon. Possibly the only one. I miss the N64. Screw you guys, I LIKE collecting shit.
