Halo: Reach |OT7| What are They to Say Now?

Was playing in the 343 playdate. David is a pretty cool guy, willing to answer all the questions the lobby had and everything.

It sounds like they are playing around with Megalo and could get some new gametypes in the future.

Did anyone ask about getting zero bloom for the remaining gametypes like oddball and assault?

Screw Reach what did he say about Halo 4? When's the beta?

Not quite, but David did say they are looking into introducing TU settings into more playlists.
Great.

Let's just go ahead and trash one of the best things Reach had going for it to an even greater degree.

Can't play DLC. Can't enjoy the clear feedback without compromising my list choices. Bravo, 343!

I'm in a bad mood...

And BTW, ATLAS is a fucking waste of $5. Shit doesn't even work half the time (twice now it's displayed the wrong map). The Waypoint app on 360 either doesn't load or slowly loads items and loses connection to the server often. I would imagine that they're separate development teams, but the actual products 343 Industries has developed by themselves (including the TU and playlist management) are setting my expectations very low for Halo 4.

Soon I'll have to start playing Tribes 2: Aerial Assault on the PS2.

Works fine on Windows Phone, and it was free. :p

I feel you though, I wouldn't have spent 5 dollars on it. It's pretty useless.

I hate to be a dick, but people were bellyaching in here for a solid year about how much the game sucked, and the apologists of the game told them to suck it up or move on. Well, I guess it's your turn!

TU Beta should be renamed to TU Preview since it's not actually being used for feedback, just a holding cell for shitty gametypes before they escape to the rest of matchmaking.

Isn't this the part where Hired will just say that he just wants Reach to be better and voicing his distaste for the current state of the game is fine? You know, like every bloom hater would have said.

We complain because we love. That's right, 133,568 posts worth of love.

The bloom haters stopped playing the game. So I guess I can only tell Hired to stop playing too.

As far as H4 is concerned, all this fluff (apps, playlists) does not effect my decision on it. I am glad Bungie is done with Halo, and if 343i disappoints with H4... then at that point ill say my farewell to the franchise, but until they release H4 I will give them a fair chance.

I don't particularly care about bleedthrough... I didn't even care about bloom. Take em or leave em and I'd still play. I'm merely bracing for weeks of pretty dismal opinions of the game. I'm adjusting my gameplay accordingly :p

Get a couple of fun games out of Vanilla Reach and then Evade hits you over and over. The lack of action against Evade speaks volumes about 343. How the hell is this thing still allowed? People flying all over the map. My fucking analog sensitivity is set on low. I can't adjust my aiming that quickly when you have aholes rolling and flying around the goddamn map like Sonic the hedghog. Hype for Halo 4 is at 0 because of this.

I'm more disappointed in the feigned ignorance and doubletalk. It took them 3 months to finally acknowledge that the NR auto-headshots under the adjusted bloom gametypes. They have yet to acknowledge the health pack glitch or any of the criticisms of bleedthrough existing outside of the Halo 1 simulation. But at least they'll link you to the latest store items to buy for Christmas! Maybe they'll finally acknowledge it two months from now, but two months from now will probably be the final Reach update as they push the TU settings into the last of the playlists and then go into Halo 4 hype mode. Evade will still be everywhere, bleedthrough will be in everything, and we'll probably still have no DLC required playlist. Welcome to the two year cycle for Halo games.

If a 1.2 even happens at this point it will be a miracle.

I don't want Vanilla Reach completely gone, I'm happy that it doesn't sound like that will happen. At the very least, Campaign and Firefight will remain the way Reach was intended to be.

I need my evade and armor lock fix

Halo 4 canceled. Zero bloom living dead beta playlist starting next month.

If 343 isn't happy with the frequency of the DLC showing up, they will consider bringing back Premium battle along with other things.

Yea I like Vanilla Reach and TU Reach being seperate. That way we can choose at least for awhiiiiile longer.

I mean they dedicated an entire game's balance around Bloom and the default speed and damage and beatdown and feedback systems all around Reach. Yes some people might not find that "fun" but I do.

I also enjoy the TU settings now and then but the fact the melee is so weak that THREE beatdowns to kill yet THREE pistol shots to kill...and a Pistol is stronger than a DMR. Its fucking ludicrous but at the same time its kinda fun. Then someone grabs overshield and they get too long of an invisibilty period where I snipe them TWICE and beat them down TWICE and they don't die, its fucking bullshit and makes no sense.

Both modes need improvements I guess.

In the end they should Hire this guy.

Ultimately I think that 343 should have left Reach alone aside from DLC and playlist updates. Yes Bloom and bleedthrough were contentious issues but this was what the game was designed around. Both should definitely be looked at for Halo 4 but in Reach it's just making a mess of things.

If they were going to make changes like this then it should have been a larger undertaking. People will disagree whether bloom was a good mechanic or not but I don't think it's a stretch to say the Banshee is overpowered and yet it was completely untouched. Also if changes had to be made then it should have been a movement to one format that gets pushed to be universal. I can keep track of these changes but to a casual player the game is going to feel wildly inconsistent.

Another mishandling was the Anniversary multiplayer. Not so much not remaking Halo CE exactly but only including those 7 maps and not standard Reach or allowing these users to purchase DLC. It just makes the playlist set-up so divisive. I believe this is the first time in Halo MP history where you can have a party composed of players having mutually exclusive content. The ODST treatment was much nicer in that respect though being able to offload the maps to Reach proper was nice.

I look forward to seeing what Halo 4 brings to the table but 343 needs to get it together with Reach.

Why wasn't Anniversary multiplayer just a second disc with all the maps to date? That move for ODST really made Halo 3 multiplayer so much more cohesive and enjoyable.

I mean really some developers need to band together, storm Microsoft HQ, and explain why segregating user bases with paid content is a terrible business model. Point over the road to Valve's swimming pools of cash if you have to.

Said this many times, it seemed to so foolish to me. Especially when Reach has depreciated so much (in the EU at least, somehow still $35 on Amazon.com..), why not just continue the ODST clever idea and include Reach MP as a second disk?
Would printing a second disk & suitable case be that much much more expensive?

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a decision handed down from MS. ODST did this but it also cost $60 at launch. Ideally, we would have had the $40 price point and an MP disc.

Possibly would've bumped costs up to no longer make it feasible as a $40 title? Didn't the Halo 3 MP package on ODST only happen because Microsoft wanted it to be a $60 title? Just throwing out a guess there.

I think it happened so that Microsoft could justify it as a $60 title. The actual cost in making two DVDs rather than one is negligible. Economies of scale, holla. I mean maybe Microsoft weren't wild about the idea of packing in all of Halo Reach's multiplayer for cheap and cannibalizing DLC sales a year after release, but come the fuck on. Building and sustaining user bases (and so Xbox LIVE subscriptions) for your key exclusive franchises is vastly more important for a long-term grab of mindshare for the entire fucking Xbox platform than selling piddly little map packs is in the short term.

Hire Shake.

Personally I can live with a bad feedback loop as long as the gameplay is better. I personally love bleedthrough, the only issue I have is the bug that people have spotted where having full health /= having full health lol.

With Halo 4 I really hope they design around bleedthrough, with Reach im happy to take it warts and all over the vanilla gameplay.

The Waypoint App on Android is a pile of poop. I was looking forward to getting the App they've been showing off on WP7 on my Android tablet but the Android version feels like a tacky, cheap, low quality knock-off.

It's poorly made, sluggish and unresponsive. Feels like it's been feature stripped and lacks in both presentation (severely) and content.

Free is not an excuse for bad. Hate to compare but the Bungie Android App shames the Waypoint one completely. I honesty expected better. I'm not even going to bother trying out ATLAS on Android.

I found a free Halo Multiplayer Medal Voice Board App and had about a million times more fun with that.

How is it not being used for feedback?

We complained the pistol should not be a 4sk, they fixed it.

We complained the zb pistol should not be a starting weapon, now we have the AR secondary.

Looks like they are listening to feedback to me.

They also nerfed armor lock even more which is a good thing.

Sure, but AL isn't in most playlists. I don't think it's as big of an issue since Bungie went about and removed it in a lot of stuff. Camo's change is for the better (is the bug still around where your radar is still scrambled by another teammate's AA?), mainly since it is more frequent in playlists. Evade still lives and ruins lives everywhere.
