Oh nice. Didn't even know that it's the guy from Game of Thrones

CVX rewatched the announcement stream and said there was nothing announced on SP and coop. anything about optional coop is unconfirmed.
How is it handled in RE: Revelations? It certainly looked like a "partner" game from the trailers but I've also seen gameplay videos where the character was all alone.

Revelations doesn't have co-op through the campaign. it has a seperate co-op arcade mode. Jill is seperated from her partner at the start of the demo, and regroups with him right near where it ends. i'm sure it's handled like most RE games prior to 5.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
watching people exaggerate the "cover" and "enemies shooting" in re4 to such extremes that they've practically invented an entirely different game in their imaginations is hilarious lmao

Maybe they want Chris to run away and hide instead like how they do it in Clock Tower?

Afaik there is no online/offline co-op for SP in Revelations, at least not for the Jill part. Those hallways are already too narrow for one person.

If this is set before RE5, I'm not really sure how excited I can be.

I mean they really kind of chain themselves up when they do stuff like this.
I'm willing to bet that the PR is wrong about it being 10 years after RE2/3. There is no way this game takes place before RE5. A worldwide outbreak like this would surely be referenced in RE5.

Or maybe RE5 never happened?

Well that's nice to hear. So seeing lots of partners in the trailer doesn't necessarily mean that you're always accompanied by one.

I believe they even reiterated this 10 year thing in the presentation itself.

So yeah, someone was drunk.

Have they said whether the co-op will be the story campaign, or a separate side thing?

Nothing clear on that yet. There is much to learn about the game still. What you mentioned, who the development team is (whether its the core RE team or maybe Spark Unlimited as rumors suggested). E3 shall reveal all.

Will get this.

On a Steam sale/UK bomba price. Unless it's a lot like RE4, has no forced co-op and cool looking BOWs instead of boring tentacle faces.

Can't say I'm particularly excited about this game, but that's more because I'm burnt out on RE mechanics and story. Will keep an eye on how this progresses though..

Thought it was already stated that it was Capcom's internal dev team that had worked on previous titles of the series

I hope the co-op mode is separate from the campaign, and I'd hope would be more like Lost in Nightmare and less like the RE5 campaign. I felt like Lost in Nightmare was build around the co-op mechanic both in combat and puzzle-solving, giving the levels more depth, while the co-op in RE5's campaign dumbed down the level design.

But I would be happiest if co-op was gutted and limited only to Mercenaries Mode. Always having back up really kills the horror aspect.

Be honest, the first time you realized you could crouch behind something to avoid dynamite chucking enemies you felt weird. Maybe even a little dirty. :p

Many experienced RE devs are on it but I don't think they came out and confirmed it was the core Japan team. I may have missed the confirmation if they did reveal it.

Enemies that shoot gatlin guns to me is wildly different than anything in the RE games that came before. Sure there's a lot of generalizing going on, I'll admit, but when I look at it from a fundamental standpoint I don't really see how RE6 is committing "atrocities to the franchise" but that RE4 didn't.

RE4 is what brought most of the stuff people are complaining about now to the series, only now the developers are implementing these mechanics in a more fluid, sensible way. If you're going to have a game where something is shooting at you, doesn't it make complete sense that someone like Chris or Leon would be able to take cover? Hell anyone would, it doesn't take a fucking action hero to be able to hide behind something.

Whether by button prompt or being able to just flat out take cover behind something-- it's still taking cover behind something, which is something introduced to the series in RE4.

Trailer looked cool. Let's see how it goes. I would personally prefer a single player campaign and co op missions rather than the game be co op the whole way through.

Check the credit at the end of trailer. CVXFreak also mention the team size of 150+ people.

I find it ridiculous that people completly overlook Revelations.
It's exactly what they're asking for. Mansion setting, corridors, puzzles, ... .

A business that doesn't adapt to it's market will eventually die. And we all know this gen has been brutal, a lot of studios have died.
Survival horror sold well back in the day and was hype. Today it's war and action games.
They were nice and gave us an entire survival horror leon campaign.

The only thing I believe everyone feels and is mad about, and this is for every capcom fan out there, is that capcom and resident evil usually dictated the current "standard" of videogames. Everybody eagerly awaited "what capcom was doing".
Resident Evil 1 spawned an entire genre, so did devil may cry, so did Re4.

Now we have to accept western developers have caught up and the roles have been reversed. And when people see the cover system, they feel that influence.

They should just rerelease the original games to put this to rest.

Port begging is bannable no???oh wait its for a Sony console...nevermind...

Perhaps you just happened to miss all of the Wii U comments and begging through out the thread because of course there is some mythical Neogaf slant towards Sony?
Are we really wasting thread time on this?

NEW RESIDENT EVIL should be cause for happy time.

The movie wasn't that good and Code Veronica was a long time ago, besides Chris is getting too much exposure and his character is not likeable, I mean, 2 games in a row? come on...

4 games.

RE5
RE Revelations
(U)MVC3
RE6

Likeable or not, RE is basically the Chris and Wesker show. Everyone else, including Jill, is just an accessory. The eye candy females and beefcake Chris are going to be dlc for mercenaries.

Because port begging sucks no matter what, so what some people did it for another console?

Also, why are you complaining about wasting time on this topic when you're continuing the conversation.

I just hope that the game keeps its own identity instead of playing to much like a gears of war or encharted tittle with zombies thrown in the mix. There isn't anything out there that plays like RE4 or RE5. And I consider RE4 a much better game then any Uncharted or Gears Of War game. Because it offers far more fun mechanics then just covering and shooting. RE4 needed your complete focus and attention. Uncharted and Gears Of War don't and when you master those they start feeling like they play themselves and you are no longer involved.

I was just thinking how they did Dead Rising 2.5 where they did major revision to the game to appease the audience, I wonder why we never got a RE5.5 without Sheva.

The folks "port begging" for a Wii U version were handily banned.

They'd have to change a good amount of things in the game to make it possible. Too much work!

I would be pretty sad if this happened. I like playing games in co-op, and RE5's had a lot of potential.

I honestly won't pick up RE6 if the campaign doesn't have co-op. I have no interest in playing an RE game by myself anymore.

Resident Evil (the main series at least) hasn't had the "Survival" aspect of Survival Horror in it since Code Veronica. Resident Evil as a series is very much a standard Action-Adventure game with "horror" elements than it is a Survival Horror... this action heavy horror game stuff is what defines the series now, people need to understand that and stop complaining when this games let's you run around and shoot stuff. You've been able to do that since RE4 and they're just, hopefully, making the controls better.
