Playstation Vita ads are up

That's the best SCEA can come up with for this so called 50million dollar ad campaign push LOL

Europe at least keeps you interested till the end, the US one feels like parts of other commercials stitched together just with a person holding a Vita

Good stuff for both regions. The EU ad is more momentus, fitting for a hardware launch. US is a bit laid back, but squarely targets the Call of Duty audience.

Despite the ZOMGWEIRD accents, I think the EU ad would play fine in the US. Certainly in the east coast liberal elite cities.

I'm a little surprised the US ad features Unit13 over Uncharted. Both games have Teh Gunz, and Uncharted is a lot prettier. I guess the 3G leaderboard thing is a cool hook.

FIFTY million for that? Honestly... really? They should have just put a highlight reel of Uncharted, LBP, Fifa, and the Show. Showed off the dual sticks, the touch pad, and had Kevin Butler laugh. :"/

I think the 3G part of the Unit 13 multiplayer is that you can challenge anyone's score or time in a lot of different scenarios and gamemodes. You can create rivalries with friends and strangers, stuff like that.
It also uses a lot of the NEAR features, I believe. So you could just pass someone on the street and you'd receive a particular challenge with a reward for beating it, etcetera.

It's not "live" multiplayer at all, but the game is packed with social features.

Sony should be showing off the strengths of this machine not some people playing some shitty looking (and running) shooter online. For christ's sake sony have a little faith in the american people, I'm supposed to be the negative one here.

Huh, in the US add the people playing the Vita aren't even interested in it, and instead would rather scowl at the environment around them.

The money spent for the EU one could have probably founded a couple of AAA Vita games and yet it doesn't tell anything about the Vita to the average Joe rather than "oh, it's a new PSP kind of thing".

It's a pretty nice ad mind you, but I hope more "practical", features-focused ads will follow. Like the iPhone apps ones.

The US one is pretty bad.

The EU Vita ad took a cue from the US MW3 ads in a good way. Not feelin the US Vita ad at all though, boring more than anything else.

The Euro commercial was well made but I think a shorter commercial of just people sitting around playing the VITA and showing the games/features would have done just as much in terms of getting the VITA name out there, much like the 3DS UK commercial.

I hope new ads focus on different aspects of the Vita (that are still yet to be fleshed out more thoroughly). Mainly the aspect of transferrence between the PS3 experience on the go with continuing your proress in some manner.

EU one is still kinda bad, it shows the Vita for like 2 seconds at the end. It's not doing a good job at making people who don't know what a Vita is (or don't want one) want to get one.

Not too thrilled with either of these. The US one is just ridiculous street-cred underground socially awkward outcast bro nonsense. It's not cool, it's not appealing, it just makes me want to hide my eyes in shame.

EU one, better, inspiring, creative but ... they don't actually show the system, don't reveal features nor price, and don't show any games. I think that's necessary. Maybe not in every ad, but in some of them. Just hanging the brand in front of people doesn't create appeal for the product.

Vita's strength as a device is its complete suite of control options, cameras and connectivity. No skimping. Why not show off that strength?

^^^ Pretty much what you said.

The Euro ad (and Double Life before it) is very well-made for what it is, but it doesn't do that much to actually sell the product.

Yeah, so these ads don't advertise what Vita actually does but show things it doesn't do (3G Unit 13). Good job, Jeremy.

I absolutely despise the US ad.

1) The "3G Gaming" overlay while the guy is playing a first-person shooter is incredibly misleading and should be defined as false advertising.

2) As someone said earlier, it shows nothing about the machine's strengths.

I guess Sony was right when they said they were targeting guys in their 20's who play games more than 8 hours a week. What a shame.

Lol $50 milli.... no wait, there are still loads of other ads to come in many different formats.

Liked the EU one, much like I liked the ps1 version

Both regions' efforts are awful.

- The US versions lack any excitement to them at all. Hell, the dumb dis-interested looking actors get more facetime than the actual system or gameplay footage. Show, don't tell, thats what made the Kevin Butler ads a cut above the rest. To its benefit it does at least make people look at the 3G version over the WiFi, thats at least a bullet point conveyed. Unlike...

- The EU ad because its just a brand awareness thing. You could slip PSP or PS3 into the end of that mini-movie and the message would be un-altered. This isn't gonna get the product into peoples heads in any way and says even less about why you'd want it. You may like it as a 'thing', but as a marketing tool for a new platform it fails completely.
