how can I change language of my trophies?
I was using my native language for a while (as a system language) and all my trophies in 'PS Vita System' tab were in native. When I switch to English, they are intact... Do I have to format my Vita in a specific way? How will this affect my games/saves/profile settings?
bump, anyone?

I thought I saw someone mention a premium filter. Maybe I misread, they misinterpreted one of those (matte/repair probably), or there's something we don't know about. Anyways, if there isn't a premium one then ignore that part of my post!

There is a premium by Hori, that costs twice the normal ones. That one only covers the screen like the sony one.

Here's what I did to "fully" protect the Vita while still retaining it's form and function 100% (as in not putting on a hard case):

1. Put Hori filter on front
( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006VE40JQ/?tag=neogaf0e-20 _

2. Cut about half an inch off of the top or bottom of the Sony filter (you get 2 in pack, so you can mess up once)

3. Apply the cut Sony filter to the rear touch pad

Holding and playing Vita now feels a lot more "safe". I felt very erm, dirty putting heavy use on the system with no protection before this.

Another reason I think the Hori is superior, is due to it covers the whole front instead of just the screen. So with the Sony for example, your finger (when swiping between LiveArea screens for example) will hit the "bump" of the protector's edge a lot, while with the Hori, it's all one clean, flat surface.

Are your fingers made of broken glass?

I just watched a trailer for LBP Vita, and goddamn it looks amazing. The game is really a perfect fit for the system. I hate not having money :(

Yeah it really looks like a killer app, like it was meant for the Vita and should have started here from the beginning. Could be something Epic indeed

You really think the rear touch pad will not get scratched/damaged in the long term without protection? That thing is on the glossy as hell, on the underside, so you'll be setting it down a lot, consciously or not, on hard surfaces.

Rear touch is also something a lot of games will use, and to have it not work/register swipes properly due to damage would be bad.

Besides protection, putting a cut Sony filter on there also makes the rear touch more "pronounced" so you know 100% what the radius is, whereas normally I'd be touching the edges by mistake and nothing would happen.

I just got this one myself (bought it like 20 mins ago on the store near my house). And yes, I absolutely used Instagram to take a picture of it. Edit. Oh and yeah, that's a MacBook Pro you're seeing right there. It wasn't even on purpose but I guess it's what happens when you use Instagram:

Oh and yeah, I have another Instagram'ed picture:

Yep yep...

He's one of those people who think putting screen protectors on devices is the dumbest thing ever.

I didn't put a screen protector on my iPhone 4S (I believe it comes with one already?...) even though everybody loves to put one. I keep it in my pocket, have had it for close to half a year and it has no scratches at all.

I'm putting a protector on my Vita just because it scares me though...

I'm going to guess better based on that. I had to go a day without, partially because I was too impatient to wait another day to use the Vita, and I didn't notice any difference in visual quality after applying it. I DO think I have a minor scratch near the top though, which incidentally may also be the difference between the standard and premium versions of the filter. Anyways, at $7 I'd definitely recommend it for screen protection, I can't help but think one that covers ONLY the screen isn't a great idea on a borderless touch screen anyway.
Yeah my PSP has wear and tear due to me rubbing the sides of the screen protector during my years of play. Dust got in due to that and I don't want to fix it since it's 3 years old.

What's so wrong about putting on a 7 dollar screen protector for protection when you could hardly notice it's there? The hori one is fantastic and doesn't scratch on normal use to boot. It's like upgrading the screen durability without any cons.

It doesn't have one but it has Gorilla Glass and a coating to help prevent finger prints and smudges.

Can you post pics of that case you got for the Vita?

Every type of screen requires a screen protector.

Wanna know why?

Sand scratches glass. Even Gorilla glass. If you think otherwise, look into your highschool science textbooks.

Ever wonder how you get those mini scratches despite taking good care of your phone? That's as a result of sand getting into your pockets/debris blowing in the wind that catches onto your clothing.

The VITA doesn't even use glass. It's plastic, which scratches to a lot more things than glass does. Protect dat purchase bros

i haven't used a screen protector, button protector, speaker bumper or big clunky case since the original iphone. for me it's not a museum piece and i'm not putting it under a microscope each night, i'm using it

Couple more Remote Play examples

Dead Space 2 (really surprised by the excellent clarity and low input lag)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwOHzY7sANE

Bad Company 2 (lagtastic and the image is a blurry mess)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqdJwGuvQMg

Dead Space looks fantastic and Bad Company 2 does not look that horrible to me. Sony needs to get Remote Play to at the very least match what is possible with CFW, if not surpass it. Yoshi has talked about this exact same thing before, so I'm sure they're aware of it.

It wont work on GT5, Uncharted 3 and a few others.

Even with CFW? Why?

The iPhones screen uses glass though. Glass doesn't scratch easily.

I'm not bothering with the back pad simply because I'd want it to cover the whole thing, not just the touch pad specifically. If I can't have an easy to apply version, well, I'll take my chances. I imagine however the actual touch sensing is safe, it's just that it's highly prone to superficial damage. I'll just have to try to be careful where I put it for minimum damage, a case WAS suggested for that reason as I recall.

So this AT&T free month + SSDD, I know they're redeemable after I pay for the first month, but are they going to offer me the codes for either or both now or later? Or is the free month going to start automatically and the free game will magically appear in my download list?

So, do the screen protectors help a bit with fingerprints/oily smudges compared to naked? I feel like this thing seems more of a magnet compared to my tablet and phone, but I'm assuming its because of my nonstop usage..

I've had my Vita since launch, and after some use I'm considering getting a screen protector to be safe.

Would you guys mind outlining the best steps for applying a screen protector, the Hori one specifically? I've seen mention of rubbing alcohol, q-tips, scotch tape, all sorts of stuff. I don't normally use screen protectors but with the Vita I'm definitely considering it.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I love the Vita, but the fact that it is glossy as fuck drives me mad. Using it during daytime makes my blood boil.

My wife has an anti-glare screen protector from Power Support on her iPhone 4. I'd love to have something with a similar effect on the Vita, preferably from Hori since they feature the best methods to apply their foils without leaving dust, bubbles or fingerprints beneath them.

Can anybody tell me if this here does it's job well?
Pitahari Filter for PlayStation Vita (Matt type)

Is this filter available in the west under a different name?

And does anybode have the silicone protector from Hori?
HORI PS Vita Silicone Protector

Because it's not just the screen that glares like a mirror...the Vita's body is extremely glossy as well...

I finally used my pre-order code to download the PS Vita avatar for PSN and you can't even download it on the Vita.

Jesus christ sony...

Well, the alcohol COULD be dangerous to the touch part of the screen admittedly, but I don't know too much there. I was more concerned with straight up being clean though, plus sensitivity seems the same as before so I guess as long as it's light and quick you don't need to worry about it much, I'd scrub away with a microfiber cloth first to get most of it off though. I'd also recommend a can of air, that way you can just blow away any specks of dust that manage to get underneath. Speaking of which, I think there's some specks from packing material for the Hori one, so you'll want to be careful there and make sure to double or triple check before removing the bottom layer to apply it.

Anti-Glare screen protectors use a tint of darkness to reduce the glare, so the side effect is that it will darken the image of the screen.

I wouldn't use it myself.

I actually intended to not bother this time, but by the time I tried backing out of my order it was too late. And given how easy it was to apply I'd say it's worth the peace of mind, especially since this would probably remain useful for longer than any iOS device before their inevitable upgrades make what you currently have obsolete and irrelevant beyond basic functions.

I think ones like that just have a matte texture, thus not being quite as reflective as a glossy surface. Of course, that matte texture would instead of darkening the image make it less clear, so it's STILL a negative result. HOWEVER, if he thought it was fine on the iPhone 4 with it's much denser PPI then he'd probably be fine with it on a Vita.

Had the official Sony screen protector on for a while. Right away, I could notice that it was sort of a matte style screen protector and it definitely had an effect on colors. Just took it off after two days and everything definitely looks better. Colors pop more and that "filtered" look is gone.

Oh, something I'm thinking about: does anyone have any idea why the Hori filter is licensed in Japan but not in the US? I noticed it wasn't for the PSP one either after awhile, it's strange given their 3DS filters are licensed and the rest of their Vita accessories are licensed to. Wonder if it's SCEA demanding too much, or for some reason it fails to meet their quality standards unlike SCEI. Or hell, maybe Sony's decided to not license screen protectors PERIOD?

SUCCESS!
I sold my 360 to get a Vita

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to blag one of the leftover pre-order packs that HMV had :( No Frobisher Says for me :(

Oh sweet, you can change PSN region without wiping the memory card? I really hope that's not fixed in a future system update, because I like being able to bounce between the two.

Pretty much the only reason I bought a couple of them. To Protect (IMO) an expensive investment. Simply knowing my screen won't take any scratch or abrasion like damage during playtime or otherwise makes me happy.

I'd be fine with that if I can't see myself mirroring on the screen during daylight anymore. I think that's terribly distracting, even in brighter games like "Everybody's Golf". "Uncharted" is practically unplayable in a bright room during daytime. I tried the demo in the afternoon and couldn't see shit due to all the glare.

Also, my wife's iPhone doesn't seem to have a darker screen with the protector on it. It just seems slightly less sharp.

Anyone buy Ninja Gaiden plus? How does it hold up to the console versions? Its one of my favourite games, but I don't want to buy it if it doesn't work as well on a handheld.

So far I really like the Vita. I only have Lumines, and it looks so damn good on that OLED screen, and I love the music. Want to buy Persona 3 but its a bit much on PSN.

It SOUNDS like a pretty good port... but it's 30 FPS rather than 60 like the console entries. That alone may make it more worthwhile to stick with the console versions over the Vita one.

It isn't a good port.

30fps
Platforming is even more terrible now
Framedrops everywhere
Shit lighting/textures
Easy as fuck thanks to more blue souls spawns plus "Enhancements" that literally break the game

And the list goes on.

TL;DR I still bought it because, well, I'm a NG freak.

I'd say it works well. Console versions are obviously better in most every aspect. But for a portable version, I'd say it holds up quite well.

Eoru Motorstorm RC owners - anyone had problems with activating the full version on the PS3? I've bought it on the Vita, but get an error when trying to download the 100k activation file via the PS3 (after installing the trial). Driving me nuts!

Guess I'll need to figure out which version is best to get for a newcomer: Black on Xbox 360 or Sigma on PS3. DOn't mind playing in non-HD if it's the superior version, but if there's BC issues (beyond the arcade game which I wouldn't get on PS3 anyway) or whatever I'll stick with Sigma.

And, yeah. I managed to stuff my 16 GB card already, but that's just because I put every PSN PSP game I had that worked but Killzone Liberation on it, and that only because of the DLC that couldn't work with the way the Vita's set up. I can easily dump a few RPGs I won't actively play any time soon to make space for a Vita game or whatever.

Thanks for that. Where can I get it?

Japan.

Or... maybe search around. It's made by HORI and it should cost around 10 bucks. It has the big fat VITA logo but at least it isn't ugly. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has some extra space inside so the Vita might move around a bit up and down. Not to the sides though, as it fits greatly there.

I love NG so much, played way to much of the first and black. But I don't know if I love it enough to buy it with all those problems. I have a $20 credit towards a game, a promo when I bought the Vita so I have to spend it before March 1. Was going to get NG, but now I think I will see if I can put it towards SSX.
