Don't know how representative this phone shot is, but here you go.

I'll give my Vita to a friend in the coming days. He's got an awesome camera so he should be able to take some decent comparison photos. I hope that I'm just panicking for no reason.

Not that I can't take it back and ask for a new one, but why go through such trouble. XD

I was busy all weekend and couldn't keep up with this thread, and I just searched and couldn't find the answer so I apologize if this has been answered, but is there any confirmation or details about the possibility of getting the Vita version at a discounted price when you buy the PS3 version of MLB 12?

How is the build quality? It looks like extremely cheap, fragile plastic in the pictures, but if it's decent I might get one of those.

The back piece which clips onto the actual console is very sturdy and I feel would protect it from a drop. The only piece that has some play and wiggle room is the piece that covers the screen. It doesn't feel cheap per-say but it definitely doesn't feel as solid as the back piece. When it's closed (It clips down) it feels good.

Near is some seriously junky-ass software.

According to Near, there are 233 people with Vitas near me. Depending on where I hit the little 'Crown' icon, it either says 388 people have Uncharted, or 31 people have it.

Im' assuming the big number is total number of times i've run into the same 31 people near me who own Uncharted?

I feel like I have no idea WTF im' looking at whenever I open Near.

At this point I seriously doubt it unless a retailer decides to offer them together at a discount.

So what is the best case for Vita?

I wanted the Thrustmaster VIP Hard Case but it is out of stock on Amazon.

edit: I don't want permanently attached cases. Hate that. I want to take the vita out of the case to play it.
Really? I preordered last week as soon as they posted then. I expect mine to ship today. Nothing yet though from their despatch department.

What am I looking for? I just see your reflection on a black screen.

Have you tried using your Vita in a totally dark room? That's the only time when I see those blotches (playing at night with the lights out). Fortunately, mine doesn't seem to be as blotched up as some vita screens I've been seeing around the net

How dark are we talking? I don't typically play without some light source. Does it appear when playing games?

App data is for DLC (example extra characters for UMvsC3) - Savefiles, Update and Game are in the Buble, You delete that bubble you delete all.

That is exactly my concern. So if we want to hold onto a save but delete a particularly large update (Clap Hanz, Zipper, and Liverpool have a long history of doing this) there's no way to do this?

Well got to try Vita today at Elgiganten here where I live. The console is gigantic! Bigger than the DSi XL!

The screen was nice, wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be, but then again I am spoiled since I saw the Galaxy Nexus a week ago. The graphics on Uncharted was impressive but the jaggies destroy the graphics on such a wonderful screen :(

The analog stick, I really don't know. Everyone here thinks its great, but to be honest they are to small to work as good as the analog sticks on the PS3/360. I had lots of trouble controlling Drake and the aiming wasn't as good as it was on the console brethren.

A very nice console from Sony, a lot better than what they managed to do with the PSP. I really hope they announce lots of games tailored for the Vita at E3. Going to Wait after E3 to see if it's worth buying one

There are 2 versions of Uncharted. Imported and US for me. The one you own will have a tick at the bottom of the icon. Confused me at first too.

Just tried Unit13 demo - and most of the time I was thinking how much better it would be with GA style gyro-aiming rather then aim-assists. Definitely leaves a better impression as a demo than videos did though.

Is Super AMOLED impervious to this
No it's not, they have it too.

That shot isn't helping your case - it just looks completely black - or blacker then any LCD I've ever seen anyway, especially TN ones.

still debating if i should get Unit 13 off of PSN and cancel my order or just wait for my order from Amazon to ship, i wont be able to get it until that Thursday night:(

You can't if the developer doesn't let you, but you always can delete the bubble and re-download (if it's downloaded) or re-install (if it's a retailer copy) the you will start like a new game.

I'm sure this has been asked before in this thread but how is the d-pad on this thing? I've heard it was pretty bad by a couple of people. Is it squishy like the Sega Genesis controller?

The d-pad is, IMO, the best one Sony's come up with. I've never been a big fan of Sony's d-pads due to the split they have in them. The Vita d-pad still looks like a traditional PS d-pad, but it feels more like a Nintendo d-pad.

I really hope they use the design on the Dual Shock 4.

This is something that you need to adapt to. When i first tried Super Stardust Delta, i was wondering if i would do any good because of the smaller analog stick, it almost felt like my right thumb was about to slide off. Now, after many hours gaming, i dont have this problem at all :)

I thought the two Uncharteds on the list were the game vs the demo? I don't see any import versions, and I don't own it. Even if you added up both of the unique Uncharteds on the one "crown" list, they don't equal the 388 on the other list. Hence, why I assume they are just totaling every instance of me running into the same people who have the game over and over..?

I think it's the best dpad ever. I like it more than a saturn pad.

You can try to see if that particularly large update is accessible from ADM. That's what ADM is for.

According to the online manual, save data can go there too. However for some games, the save files have to be managed from inside the game. If the games don't allow you to delete these files, then your only choice is to remove the entire game from the Home Screen.

You can backup the whole bundle to a PC and swap your save files individually though. Some people have done that to move their PSP save files to Vita.

I'm not sure I'd feel the same way on a full sized controller, but with the smaller dimensions, I think clicky style buttons and d-pad work great. You lose size but gain a little feedback. I actually think they should have gone that route for the shoulder buttons as well. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether you are holding the shoulder buttons because of the longer softer throw.

Blacks of OLED and my monitor are the same, judging by my crappy phone camera.

That's why I'll give it to my friend whose camera is gonna do an awful lot of a better job than what my phone did.

I wish there was someone near me so we could compare the screens. It's really freaking me out that I paid almost $400 for a console and a card just to have a questionable product in the end...

Only thing that's bumming me out a little about this system as I'm preparing to take it on a trip for the first time is lack of single-cart multi. Know that's mostly ridiculous in this context but damn if it isn't fun to play Mario Kart, Tetris, etc. on DS/3DS.

Motorstorm RC may help that itch next week

Could be demo too. I am not sure because when I got my Vita, people around me were playing imported games already.

It's hard to sum numbers to match because people move around between "zones" and they may not submit their data automatically. So some data may be withheld. Plus I think anonymous users may be hard to track uniquely.

Yeah I guess so, as I only tried it for like 5 minutes :) Otherwise a very impressive handheld console :)

Oh okay, I also see some light bleed on the bottom of your monitor if I'm not mistaken. And it depends on the lighting conditions too. TN monitors, or heck, even LCDs in general struggle with black levels in low light, while they can look quite good when there's enough light around. You don't have to worry about that with OLED. I'm actually trying to figure out if you were expecting the blacks to be blacker or something. The pixels are turned off, so other than the blotchy effect in pitch blackness, you can't really get any blacker.

Mortal Kombat in april and VF5 around summer

Virtua Fighter has never been announced for Vita.

It's not like you were going to find someone else with a Vita anyways.

The general opinion in our household is that the Vita is excellent. Everyone wants a go so its not easy getting much of my own playtime with it.

The only things I dont like so far are:

a) The circular icons, they look naff, and whilst the functionality of the OS is great it just looks amateurish?

b) The PSN functionality, the store itself is great but the Friends list, trophies etc feel like they are plugins that are just dipping in and out of my PSN account when required. I dont feel like Im continuously connected to PSN (which Im not I know but the dipping in and out could be a little more seamless and hidden from the user.)

Apart from that Im really glad I bought it.

You write that but claim you want a great sim racer?

Me 'n' you gon' tussle.

Okay, so maybe "terrible" isn't the right word. I play those games (GT/Forza) mainly for the career and tuning aspect. I love to work my way through, buying new cars and modifying them. GT PSP took all of that out and I just found the game boring without it.

But the game was actually really good looking and I thought the control was fantastic. There was just nothing there to keep me coming back to it.

With that being said, are there any sim racing games with a well designed career structure coming for the Vita?

Well I see it only when in a dark room, and when the screen displays a black background. How dark, I'm not sure. Lights out during night is enough for the blotches to appear, but during the day, I actually have a hard time seeing them. Even tried showing it to someone else during the day and we both couldn't see the artifacts.

Only time I noticed it while actually playing a game was during UMVC3's startup screens with the capcom/marvel logos.

Your Vita will be alright with those blotches and the black level. OTOH you may want to do something to sooth yourself if you are freaking out over this. ^_^

I'm lucky, I use GT5 as my 'proper' sim and only needed GT: PSP to give me exactly what it did, the ability to run time trials on lots of tracks with lots of lovely sexy cars, with proper sim style handling / physics. As a portable game I don't want some long-winded career full of filler races.

I honestly think the structure of GT: PSP is perfect for a portable game. A little more integration with GT5 wouldn't hurt though.

With that being said, are there any sim racing games with a well designed career structure coming for the Vita?
Can you name any other portable sim, ever, except for GT: PSP?

Me neither. I reckon we're waiting for GT: Vita.
