Amrican McGee teasing a Red Riding Hood game?

I hope this isn't old news. It would be embarrassing for my first thread.

This is his Facebook page, where he teases it

...And where we can find some concept art:

After EA took their soul(aka sent their game out to die with zero advertising), Spicy Horse is concentrating on iOS development.

I can only hope for a Steam release at least.

It was EA partners, would do you expect? The business model isn't out to advertise but to get it on store shelves. Same with Shadows of the Damned and Insomniac's upcoming game.

Haven't this and Snow White been re-imaged enough?

Why not, the Princess and the Pea? Have it actually be about some sort of horrible blood sucking mutant plant that the Princess battles by throwing furniture at

Want. Loved Alice and it's aesthetic. LRRH is my favorite fairy tale. Fucking chocolate and peanut butter that...

Well there was this announcement from December

Quietly, very quietly the team at Spicy Horse has been creeping through development of the next “twisted tale” – this one based on Red Riding Hood. Akaneiro, which means “angry red” in Japanese, finds “Red” hunting wolves in turn of the century Japan. There are axes, wolves, demons and a distinct lack of grannies. Coming to a mobile device and online platform near you soon.

Which I'm guessing wasn't this?

I'm playing Alice right now and it's one of the nicest looking games I've played on my computer so far (I've only played a few games on PC since building one for gaming). It'll be interesting to see what they do with the iOS platform though.

But didn't American McGee already release an Akaneiro app? It was an interactive story for the iPad... unless this is supposed to be a new game in the franchise?

Hopefully it sees more platforms down the road, as I loved Madness Returns
Wasn't Spicy Horse rumoured to be working on a Jack and the Beanstalk game or was that bs?

Amaterasu!

Neat art, don't really have much faith in this guy's games regardless of platform though. Too cheap & simplistic.

How are people guessing the platform based on a couple pieces of concept art?

See jediyoshi's post above although I guess online platform could mean almost anything these days.

Shame it seems this will be iOS or at least simple in design. I'd like it more akin to Madness Returns.

Still if people want a different take on Red Riding Hood you should check out The Path.

No one should check out the path- it's god awful.
Care to explain? Should they not even look at it or try the demo?

It's an 'arty' game sure, compared to the action adventure platformer of Madness Returns. But imo it is an interesting game that gives a unique look at Red Riding Hood and there is plenty to look at and read into, so long as you can handle wandering round the forest to find things.

The whole point of the game
is to do the complete opposite of what it tells you to do
and I just think that's a bit dumb- just a silly metaphor with bad game design I thought.

Well
the point is you are supposed to explore, for different reasons depending on the girl like not wanting to actually go, curiosity. The forest being a metaphor for the dangers in life that we face, and the wolves being each girls folly, for Ruby her wolf was the 'cool' bad boy with the car, collecting objects in the forest show that she was taken in by him and they had a car crash.

I think there is so much story and symbolism to take in. I get it's not a traditional game and that it is different, and people might not like that. But I see no harm in people looking at it and giving the demo a try.

There are lots of pieces written about the game and discussing the girls, their backgrounds and what the game is saying. I'd call it a thinking persons game, someone that has patience to see the bigger picture. It's not a shooty cut-scene laden long game. It is more an interactive journey. And it's not for everyone.
