There are enjoyable pieces of Nise, but the series flounders around and gets lost, failing to come together or make much meaning out of most of its content. I don't think it's outright terrible, but it is certainly disappointing. So much of it is forgettable and inconsequential in every way that I would be surprised if people point back to it even in the near future. Even the good will I do have towards Nise is largely based around my feelings for Bakemonogatari, and the ground work it laid for something successful to come afterwards. Nise uses Bake as a crutch for almost its entire duration, hoping that the viewer still remember and likes the characters while doing nothing with them. In many cases, threads of character development for the old cast are dangled there, but nothing ever seems to ever play out. It's as if the show itself forgets where it has and hasn't been, or simply doesn't care.

But at least we got Kaiki I suppose.

Most of the show was about Kaiki and... whatshername anyway. It'd probably be a much tighter story without the other characters at all, but yeah, I figure they needed to throw them in for the servisu.

If nothing else, there hasn't really been any anime that I've seen with great verbal sparring and rhetorical tricks since Bake, so this really hit me on that level.
(I did say it was Mamet for nerds, after all).

Weren't the ratings for GC pretty abysmal though?
Well, whatever the next otaku-bait show they make then.
Maybe they'll make a show where people fly space planes and girls have to sing in order to fight off aliens.

[Steins;Gate]
If they were staying true to the MWI
Problem is, they weren't. When "Titor" mentioned that interpretation, "he" was lying. Steins;Gate uses its own time travel model (the attractor field one, explained by Suzuha later on).
... And you'd better not examine it too closely.

No,
he was definitely only switching threads each time, not erasing the ones he was previously on.
Except they argue that there's only one universe at a given time, the other world lines being nothing more than "possibilities" (hence the whole drama around Kurisu toward the end: if it were as simple as all world lines existing simultaneously, Kurisu would simply keep existing in that timeline she's in anyway, no biggie... but according to Suzuha, that's not how it works). And while I can see why they'd want to to go with something like that (Okabe abandoning fucked-up world lines and looking for a convenient one doesn't sound all that admirable), it obviously raises a lot of annoying questions, logically speaking...

In that case
There should've been two Okabe's when he went to Steins;Gate, unless Kurisu's machine really did only move back his "consciousness". I didn't get the impression that she did that from the visual novel, but you're probably right Miri.
Kurisu's time leap machine only moves his memories (and consciousness, conveniently enough). But he was physically traveling, with Suzuha's machine, at the end, so...

The many worlds interpretation states that your universe is always the same, you just travel along different paths diverging from the same origin. There are infinite universes but you can only inhabit yours, that's why there can only be one Okabe in his own universe.
I don't quite understand your description of the MWI (which, again, isn't the model used by Steins;Gate anyway)... "You can only inhabit yours"? Whah?
I believe that model is used in order to allow time travel while avoiding grandfather paradoxes (by actually sending you in another, parallel timeline). So that presupposes that you can travel to another timeline. That's... pretty much the point?

That's probably what Maruyama is doing right now. He's sicking dicks even at his age, just to cut deals so Kon's final wishes can be fulfilled. :(

Seriously though, I'm not even holding my breath. If it gets made, it gets made. Gonna be kinda weird to not have Kon actually direct it though.

But he did direct it. It's not like we're talking about some vague concept or a script that hasn't been filmed.

The Light of El Cantare
For just $75000, you can Kickstart one man's delusion that he'll be able to animate Dragonball AF by himself with no approval from Toei, Toriyama, or any other parties involved. WHAT A DEAL! Just read his biography:

"Im just another guy with a past, im not looking for fame or my name to go down in history, i just want to make a difference in as many lives as possible."

Joshua Lucas is going to singlehandedly save anime.

I dont think Uchip was being serious as evidenced by the smilie at the bottom. But he probably id something else to warrant it before.

But GAF already told me that Goku would destroy Batman.
Yeah, Goku would just bring back Batman's parents with the Dragon Balls before spirit bombing the shit outta them. No amount of prep time could possible prepare for such Psychological Warfare!

Superman isn't Japanese though. But Megaman is!

Invite Capcom in on the project? Are you trying to sabotage it?

I want it to be a deeply symbolic fight representing the constant battle for supremacy between manga and Western comics. People will be amazed at the intricacy of my allegory.

I'm not sure why Capcom has to be involved, considering how Toei isn't involved...
