Sket Dance 26 (Gintama crossover)

It had a lot of faults, but that was pretty good, still; not because it was all that funny, which it wasn't, but that it was obviously Shinohara's way of thanking Sorachi, given the history between them, and it carried that emotional weight. The anime was nowhere near as upfront with it as the manga chapter was, but I almost prefer the use of proxy, rather than the manga's breaking of the fourth wall. Still as touching.

And I've heard a lot of the complaints about this ep, but honestly think it to be a case of aligning expectations. I, like many, I'd argue, saw the announcement of Gintama x Sket Dance/vice-versa, and said "Oh, shit. These are going to be romps!" And, to be perfectly fair, Gintama's take was. Sket Dance's, on the other hand, took the different approach; being not Sket-Dance the gag anime, but Sket-Dance the emotion bomb, but in a different manner.

All of that's speaking exclusively of the content. The production was HORRIBLE--bad art/animation, but props to the Steins;Gate reference. Tuturu~
I think the other problem was that both crossover chapters were in the same issue of Jump, but the Gintama episode aired a few days earlier than the Sket Dance one and used both its own material and some of the jokes from the Sket Dance chapter, leaving the Sket Dance episode to fill a half hour with less than a chapter's worth of material, and the original scenario they used just wasn't strong enough.

Yeah, definitely agree. The meta-commentary helped, but couldn't save it completely. All together, though, it's just that I feel the pros outweigh the cons, in this case.

Waiting in the Summer 5

Like a boss

This is really two different shows. The tedious and somewhat boring one that occurs when the two leads are alone, and the fun high school romcom that happens when the supporting cast appears. Thankfully they played a large role in this episode.

The background art and lighting also continues to make this show look very pretty.

So basically, its like Ai Yori Aoshi (except in that show the good parts were when the two leads were alone and the shit parts were when the harem was involved)

Lemon is BOSS-TIER though. For sure.

Where did I say PSG was actually a good show? They wanted something like Dead Leaves and I pointed them in the right direction.
Both Dead Leaves and PSG are just as juvenile as each other.

Ah. My bad, I assumed you were saying that.

But still, dat Nichijou backhand. C'mon son, you're killing me.

Is it only Rendezvous that's excpected to be announced?

Moyashimon's confirmed, so that would only leave something past summer. Do they usually do that?

----

And speaking of anime announcements, where the hell is Blood Lad? The green-light announcement is going on a year old at this point.

Sounds bad, man.

Powerpuff Girls already had an anime sequel.

Chair: I'm tired of people sitting on me! I'm gonna sit on them!

PPGZ: Don't do that anymore!

Chair: Okay...

Next time: Pencils

Uuuuuuugh!

The guests for the show will be the voice cast from Apollon and Tsuritama, and the music performers. There will be live performances of a jazz piece from Apollon, and the music from the Tsuritama PV. Then they are going to announce the new shows in Summer and Fall, including 2 shows for Fall which we have no hints about.

Nope. They are two unannounced Fall shows that have yet to be revealed!

Anyone want to place bets on what they are? I'm betting on one of them being a new Maasaki yuasa show by studio MAPPA!!

That, at least, is true.

Fate/Zero 9:

After the last arc, a denouement episode. Background on Lancer, who was the other historical figure I was unfamiliar with as I'm not exactly versed in Irish (Celtic) mythology. As is usual, Wikipedia gave me some useful background information about Diarmuid Ua Duibhne which made understanding the background information given on Lancer in this episode much easier.

Waver and Rider have a pretty significant role in this episode as well. I have to say that the Japanese certainly have an amusing image of Alexander the Great if Rider is anything to go by. For those curious about the usage of his name in this show, Iskander is the Persian (Farsi) spelling of Alexander. Rider is pretty awesome and hilarious though and more than makes up for how wimpy and clearly way in over his head Waver is.

I couldn't get over how bad the animation budget was for Nichibros Episode 10 (I believe?). It is the one where the guy with facial hair is learning how to ride a bike.

Sunrise didn't have anymore money because of Gundam Age. Damn you Hino! :shakesfist]:
