We meant well. The nuclear furnace that converted light Pk and Ma elements into higher mass configurations seemed to be dimming. As our only source of Nintendium, the stability of this reaction was critical to the continued growth of our civilization. We kept a watchful eye, becoming more and more concerned as the leak-flares lessened in intensity and frequency.

It was a radical, desperate plan, and many said that we could never pull it off. "You'll never be able to generate that many posts." "Even if you could, no thread could contain them." "A hype-train that size? Impossible!" In spite of these doubts, we persevered.

But something went terribly wrong. We'd hoped that the posts would serve as high-energy fuel, catalyzing fusion and re-igniting the hype. However, somewhere in our calculations lay a fatal, catastrophic error.

The posts added enough mass to collapse the Nintendo star within its own Swarzschild radius. Now nothing can escape its terrible gravity; not light, not heat, not even time itself. The final and ultimate punishment for our hubris is that there will be no more Nintendo news, not ever.

Guess that's fair.

I just realized: with MotionPlus, the sensor bar is almost entirely unnecessary for aiming/pointing purposes (as Skyward Sword has demonstrated). This means that one could conceivably play a shooter with pointer controls on the Wii U screen alone, provided the controller were propped up somehow. (A built-in kickstand might not be a bad idea.)

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Yup.

I'll need all your... alphanumeric Nintendo... identifier...things. So we can do co-op Pikmin.

In the meantime, anyone that wants to trade 3DS Friend Codes, just PM me.

I'm wondering if the charging dock might be able to double as this kickstand. The idea has crossed my mind in the past.

Doesn't the IR camera regularly reorient the MotionPlus? Gyros develop massive lag over relatively short periods of time, I understand.

I used to have a gyroscopic mouse (from the company whom Nintendo later bought for the Wii Remote tech). This was a pretty major issue.

yup. drift with m+ is actually pretty severe, especially when doing fast movements.

Sensor bar pointing precision and speed>>> gyro pointing precision and speed anyways.

Might be tricky to move, but on the other hand, do we know what the battery life on the controller is like?

That's one thing I'm a bit concerned about. I like to do a good ten-to-twelve-hour gaming session sometimes on the weekends; would I be able to keep the tablet plugged-in while I'm gaming? I hope so..

Some thoughts:

The whole sensor bar setup for pointing and also the m+ calibration is actually a pain in the ass and inaccessible.
You have a lamp next to the TV it sucks, you have a window behind your TV it sucks, your room is too bright it sucks.

Once you get it working it works really well, but setting it up properly is not trivial.

I am hoping for something more robust and user friendly from the WiiU

I remember reading about the light interference for the Wii's sensory system, and I ended-up buying new curtains for the living room the following weekend. Blackout curtains, big and thick and heavy, like the ones that Johnny Carson would step from behind. This was the darkest living room I'd ever had.. and I LOVED it, haha!

Sadly, my theory is that we'll have to re-download each and every title one at a time from the VC/WiiWare shop, just like you do on the Wii. It'll be a bit of a pain, but I'll be relieved to just get confirmation of transferability.

Yikes, I hope not. Hopefully it'll be like the DSi to 3DS where you could move everything over in either smaller or bigger chunks.

So nintendorks. Any actual news or have you all been circle jerkin for the last 15 pages?

That is dedication.
Did u build a new living room for kinect? haha

Well, the DRC is like a portable with a 640p screen and always on wireless but without any cpu or gpu. It also has space for a whoppingly huge rechargeable battery. I say Nintendo could push a rating between 10 and 15 hours if they wanted that. Hopefully, there'll be some sort of brightness control on that littke screen.

I'm confused about the context. For clarity: An IR emitter is the sensor bar, which is what is across the top middle of the DRC.

abasm's right about possibly being able to play pointing games on just the padlet screen, but not for the reasons stated in #707. I made the assumption that abasm did not know that the padlet had an IR emitter on the basis of that post.

Because they are Sony's IPs.....

Example: when Nintendo's "doomed", you hear plenty of trolls saying "Can't wait to play Mario/Zelda/Metroid on my 360".
I have never, ever, heard a Nintendo troll saying "Can't wait to play Uncharted/Infamous/Resistance on my Wii."

I'd say that this could be related to the fact that Wii owners typically own other consoles, whereas people who are PS3/360 only (or have the HD twins) might not own a Wii because all they want to play are the Nintendo games (which, for them, may not be justification enough for a console purchase). Hence the porting wish.

Of course, that ignoring the quality-related reasons why people wouldn't care if they're missing out on those Sony IPs <_<.

So will everyone here be getting their Wii U on Day 1 / Week 1?

I'm planning on moving to Japan in December/January, so I'd probably be better off waiting and buying one overseas. Otherwise I'll have to get Australian games sent to me. That way I'll also be buying up on Taiko no Tatsujin Wii games!

Goddamn it's going to be hard having it sit there for two months while I don't own it (; __ ;)

Don't know if it's been brought up, but Red Steel was developed by Ubisoft Paris (Rayman, Ghost Recon, Just Dance) and Killer Freaks is being done by Ubisoft Montreal (Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six). Not saying you should toss your apprehensions out the window or anything, just sayin'.

Maybe we can move them via SD card? Here's a shot of what's under the flap..

Seriously doubt moving via SD card will be on the table for that due to Nintendo's usual piracy concerns, not to mention everything you download to your Wii whether it's the system memory or card is encrypted to play only on your own system, period. It's like they'd have to un-encrypt them (uh, for lack of better terminology) for this to work if I'm not mistaken.

Being honest, I'm not familiar enough with Ubi's different studios for this to make me feel one way or another. Is one studio typically stronger than the other?

True. Nintendo's too paranoid. And perhaps rightly so..

Maybe I should drag someone in from Who-GAF. That's a trove of great pics, and Rowan was great there, too!
I wish there were a Keeping Up Appearances-GAF, or an Are You Being Served?-GAF. :)

It just occurred to me that I'd be pretty damn interested to see what Sakurai could do with Metroid for the Wii U (or 3DS, for that matter)

You know he could nail it. Bet it would even include an awesome online multiplayer mode.

That one's hypnotic.

So you have the endless MST3K supply (which defined my high school years), and I have the Mel Brooks collection.. anyone have a Mr Bean stash?

MST3K is one of my family's favorite shows, started watching when I was 17 and haven't stopped and I'm now in my 30s. I tried mixing it up a bit in the last thread with the Hugh Laurie gun fail gif and a Jeeves and Wooster pic. I may post some Sifl and Olly gifs if I can find any that apply. Seems like MST3K gifs are really versatile though for many different kinds of posts (which may be due in part to how the show was all about riffing and commenting about what someone else was doing).

I would say trust the Montreal studio. But then again, I'm not too crazy about KF a priori.

This is going to seem very unorthodox, but I'd love to see what he could do with an Endless Ocean title. I know he loves loading games with collectibles and secrets, and there could be no shortage of sealife to photograph, or undersea treasure to find, or underwater ruins to explore. And imagine going on underwater expeditions with friends online..

This kind of title, loaded with enough content, could last for months-upon-months..

I started watching it in the early 90s when I was in high school; the TV show dominated my high school TV watching habit, and it is still beloved in my household to this day. My favorite bedtime activity several years ago used to be where I'd load an episode on Netflix and fall asleep to it.. but Netflix is no more here.

But someday, someday.. I'll own them all - the whole collection!

It's just that not all Ubi studios are identical. It's the same deal with the different Rockstar or Nintendo studios. I just wouldn't be too quick to dismiss Killer Freaks as being Red Steel all over again; a completely different team is working on it. I don't know a helluva lot about the different teams or anything beyond a cursory Wiki search (where I got the examples from).

PRESENT!

The BouquET residence, the lady of the house speaking! Oh hello Violet!

It's my sister, Violet! She's the one with the Mercedes, swimming pool and room for a pony.

the main thrust of my argument is that we gave them severe benefit of the doubt last time, so this time around they need to earn our trust.
