Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

Pony shit? We do not approve of such nonsense in Gears GAF.

Ramirez's avatar gets me every time. It always looks so surprised at whatever he's written. Was really hoping he would quote one of the mildly offensive age of consent limericks just so I could get the avatar's reaction.

I'm a simple person.

Hopefully closer to Halo 2-3 in terms of damage and effective radius.

Very tired of the nuclear bombs we have in Reach.

Nope, keep them. Make people spawn with just one so they're more valuable. If not then you have to increase its damage radius if you're going to decrease its damage. The game looks faster so something's gotta give.

I don't like grenades being so fire and forget. People just throw them for any reason.

Alright, I have 34 MB left on my HDD... This is cutting it close.

I definitely have like 200gb left... but I got that glitch again where everything is if I first played Reach.... is there a way to stop it from happening.. It's happened like 6 times....

That glitch just hit me a few days ago. I don't even care anymore. I'm just counting down days until Halo 4.

Halo 3 gaf saturday customs were incredible. They went on for like 7 hours and you had a huge queue of people waiting on the sides for a chance to get in (noone wanted to be on a second room without the halogaf elite). And this was still was going on 2 years after launch.

Those were the days. Can't remember when I joined in but there was some serious levels of fun had. Hallway anyone?

52 minute CTF game on The Pit with some Gaffers. One of the most enjoyable, tense matches I've ever played. First the 3 caps. We were on 2 a piece for so long. I went -48 lol. Fun all the way.

That um Social Skirmish video stream was entertaining. Thanks.

Am I imagining it or did 343 say they aren't going to support rendered films going forward? I wonder if that includes Halo 4?

Halo 3 Customs Saturdays were a blast. Wacky gametypes, hard fought matches, engagements, using the AR as a method to taunt people. They had it all.

I was thinking of all the things I ever disliked in the Halo series because all the Reach pessimism finally got to me, and here's what I have:

Melee lunge/melee weapon implementation
PP Overcharge in Halo 2
Cortana (level)
SMG starts
BR sandbox centralization
Man cannons

Then there's the less offensive list of things that didn't work but I felt could have been done better, like Reach Firefight, AAs, equipment, certain levels, entire Reach campaign.

The list was actually shorter than I thought it would be.

What does it do?

it just acts as if you just turned on Reach for the first time, it makes you choose male/female spartan and you have to fix you spartan again. It's not too bad like I said before, if I haven't beat it on legendary I would be fucked. stupid glitch.

That has never happened to me, but it happens to me like 90% of the time on MW3.

Resets controls, all settings, title, emblem.

So annoying.

Remember the day you first put Reach into your xbox and turned it on? This glitch takes you back to that exact moment. Classic Reach. The definitive Halo by the people who blahdy blah blah.

Edit: Beaten

And ohbytheway I hadn't finished my Legendary run through...although it was unlikely that I was going to be motivated enough to do it anyways once Anniversary came out.

Um, don't lifts do the same thing?

I hate those things too, but they're a vertical necessity. Always preferred the platform on Reflection/Ivory Tower because you could get off it if you wanted, and it achieved the same function.

I tried to rationalize that the vertical shortcut of taking a lift was worth being subjected to a predictable path you couldn't change; they're relatively short and usually in tight spaces with little to no sightlines. But mancannons are actual features of certain maps that make a "hey, shoot at me" noise every time you use it as it catapults you into the air where everyone can aim.

Bolded the one I agree with. Never did finish that level on legendary, and not out of difficulty but sheer boredom at fighting such annoying bullet-sponges that would group snipe me from the ceilings and walls.

Thats probably the worst time I ever had in Halo, with ODST's ending highway run a close second, only because I died like 70 billion times before finally making my way through, on my last, worn, demoralized attempt.

On the bright side, all that work turned ODST's final firefight-like ending into something damn violent, satisfying and therapeutic.

Pure Forms are the single worst enemy to (dis)grace a Halo campaign, ever.

And I can understand liking mancannons and the BR, but you don't have a problem with SMG starts or that ridiculous melee lunge?

Stellar sandbox campaigns are what got me into Halo, with co-op sealing the deal and Bungie's community outreach fully wedding myself to the series. I defer all the competitive back and forth wrangling to those most passionate about it, as long as those ideas don't strip Halo down to some bare bones implementation where the fun and crazy bits are removed.

I only dabble in versus (read: I get my ass handed to me). I give it a solid shot with each new game though, and while Reach felt the best I preferred maps from previous games.
