Wii U Speculation thread IV: Photoshop rumors and image memes

The only way to avoid it affecting retail sales in a noticeably way is to price the DD at the same price range as retail copies, or even higher. Basically making it less attractive to buy DD instead of retail. At least i cant see any other solution.

There could be perks for buying the physical copy, such as free DLC or collectable things like the Mario Galaxy coin.

If anything, it will create a more competitive market, which is always good.

Dear specialguy,

what exactly do you think?
The post you commented on stated something completely different to your quotes.

I once have seen a donkey which behaved exactly like you, always against the common sense...

If I go through 99.9% of your posts in that thread (I don't know if you behave like that in all the threads) I would say (and that's only my personal thought) "Uyisiphukhuphuku!"
Please, once in a while (mostly b4 posting here) start using your brain first and you can avoid a lot of trouble.

Thank you for listening
Best regards

I'd avoid posts like this for another 90 or so, if I were you.

They will have fans by the gonads regardless of what happens at E3. If I'm disappointed with the launch lineup or something else I know that some time down the line I'll eventually cave in and buy a Wii U.

Sorry, I meant "fans" as in "dedicated video gaming fans", not specifically "nintendo fans".

I … want to post my take on it, but for the life of me I can't see how to actually do it. What a confusing website!

edit: ohhh, I see, it's halfway through the comments, because the first half of comments are comments from other websites!

I know I'm way behind this whole thing ("morning" guys, lol), but I was surprised nobody posted the Gunpei Yokoi thing there, not that it wasn't already posted a gazillion times already. Wasn't that why he posted that specifically? Or did I just miss it.
Yokoi was many years ago. It applies to the Game Boy, but certainly not to the N64 for example.

I really like Nintendo's idea of being able to resell your DD games through their system. They take a little bit of fee (like gamestop would), and you sell directly to others who are trying to buy the game later for a little cheaper. Great idea for a console IMO.

I was under the impression that this was just speculation.

forgive my ignorance, but what is DRC?

"Display Remote Controller". It's the name for the Wii U's control pad. ← edit: the name is likely subject to change, but it's the name being used for the devkits since the initial reveal

^ It's just called like that in the devkits, don't past controllers have freaky names there too? "Official" will be something completely different, we'll make up our name either way.
Or maybe we'll just continue calling it that, acronyms are nice heh!

Yokoi was many years ago. It applies to the Game Boy, but certainly not to the N64 for example.

I know, but that's why people make posts like the one bgassassin quoted, NinjaFusion even specifically used 'withered old technology' in his post. I don't think people will likely stop saying that any time soon *throws hands up in resignation*

(OT Edit: what do I do with the Iwata Mii I just got per spotpass, just throw him at the Quest? Don't want to waste him on the first enemy or smth. *goes to look up how quest works*)

I really am starting to believe there is indeed some kind of orchestrated agenda with these rediculously samey and endless Nintendo hit pieces. Wait, they're not even good enough to be hit pieces, more like puff pieces.

My comments on this issue from last night..

Part of me honestly thinks that some gaming media outlets see this as their chance to smother it while it's in its infancy, at least with the core crowd. Don't want a repeat of the whole Wii episode, now, do we? The Wii got some core purchasers in addition to its large casual base, and embarrassed them big-time. They all predicted its failure, they mocked it and turned their snooty hardcorier-than-thou noses up at it, and they ended-up looking ridiculous.

I know that sometimes mainstream media takes its cues from enthusiast media outlets, so to see this kind of thing does not surprise me in the slightest.

u know that's ok, the more they talk crap about Nintendo, the better they do. just like with Pachter's lame predictions as well as those other ANAL-lysts. just watch

I've always found it curious how the analysts are so free with their opinions. Aren't they getting paid for that?

Perhaps Patcher is smarter than we think.

^ You know, adding to Aces "don't listen to PR Reps", I say add "Don't listen to analysts rambling on publically". If Pachter is anything to go buy, analysts will only comment on stuff they don't actually deal in, so at that point they really don't have any more knowledge on the matter than we have. Probably even less because we keep up with the industry and I doubt analysts would look at the data like they do for their job for the fonds they actually trade in.

IIRC Pachter quite literally said he only comments like he does because he/his company doesn't trade in the businesses he comments on in interviews. After all, they have a private life too, if gaming blogs/"magazines" insist on shoving mics in front of their faces and get their "opinion" let it be that way, but I don't put any stock into that at all.

What? Come on man. With modern coils, there's no possible ways it's on par with conventional toasters. I mean, it might not quite be able to compete with toaster ovens, but I think it'll fall somewhere in between.

Man, my Wii U can barely toast bread. Maybe mines broken.

Did you put your CC into the second slot to purchase the "Wii Toast" app in the shop?
Might wanna try that.

I never thought of looking for that app, I'll surely look into it.

I tried to put buttered bread in the slot... Nothing... Then my games wouldn't play afterwards! What's up with that?

What!? The Wii U can't even accept buttered bread? Wow, maybe its less powerful then I originally thought. I guess the Wii U is using toaster technology from the 70's. Shame, the Wii U had so much toasting potential.

It might be that layer of dust sitting on top of your Wii that's acting as insulation, preventing a proper amount of heat from reaching the bread. Get yourself a feather duster!
If my cat jumps up on top of the Wii U and rolls around, will that be sufficient enough?
Feather dusters are much to expensive in the current state of the economy.

I would have to disagree with the implication that core gamer contempt for Nintendo is purely irrational. There's certainly a not-insignificant element of irrationality to be found, but I really do think that it's mostly what Nintendo has sown with its decisions on Wii and previous hardware.

We got snow and icy rain the other night... in the northern hemisphere. Otherwise I'd be outside hiking at a state park or something.

New Dragon Quest x trailer mock into oblivion if old.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJJgIQkWFIE Game is looking great can't wait to see the wii-u version.
Its...a action rpg? Woah. I could've sworn that it was still turn based. (Maybe its just a misleading trailer...)

Either way, I would get that day 1 for Wii j if it came on NA launch and no fees. Really loved DQIX. Still gotta get IV-VI but I'm playing to many rpgs right now. Will get those next year.

I wonder what game they're playing. Playing a N64 game in split screen (assumably), on a smaller TV, outside, and a relatively fair distance from the TV. I dont think that my eyesight would have been good enough to see much of whats going on in the game hehe.

It's a MMO I'd say all calls are off as far as what is "DQ" about it. Haven't looked into it at all 'till now. There are MMOs that toy with turn based though oh well.

The others have made their share of sins/mistakes/misjudgements, and you don't see nearly the same level of utter contempt thrown in their direction.

If this is a "Nintendo didn't go as powerful as we wanted, so we have the right to fling shit at them for the rest of time" argument, I'm not buying it, and I don't know what else to tell you.

Just think, depending on the layout of your house, you'll be able to go sit on your porch and play Wii U!
This applies mostly to cloudy days as it is not recommended that you expose the console, its controllers or its games to direct sunlight or temperatures exceeding 50°C. Same goes for the Nintendo 3DS, though that's for extended periods of time. Of course you could shield the console in a shelf or something, but that might get internally heated very quickly under the right conditions, and also wouldn't provide sufficient ventilation.

I remember an Xbox commercial where a bunch of people actually had brought an Xbox console to a beach where it wasn't only exposed to direct sunlight and heat but to sand and water as well. If anyone actually brought their system to the beach I don't know, but I think it was a rather irresponsible commercial. And there were a few print ads for Game Boy Advance where the console was shown at a beach or near the sea.

After hearing the news about Crysis 3 my expectations have been lowered big time regarding the power of the hardware.

if it was in any way a significant jump over PS360 then they could get CryEngine 3 up and running in a few weeks, Crysis 3 is due out in March / April 2013 ...

Expect Wii U Sports / Play / Music / Fit, NSMB and Pikman 3 and a real lack of big third party games like GTA V and Resi 6 at E3, then if we get anything more it will be a great suprise :).

A beach umbrella could solve that problem.
