Even more than the cowbell episode, this one goes to show that Nanami is really, really stupid.

Wouldn't have pegged Juri as a bowler.

Touga's surprisingly homophobic for a guy that gets slashed with Saionji and Akio all the time.

Nice apron.

The scene in the park was unexpectedly amazing.

Wouldn't have anticipated a show like this using off-model animation.

The Light of El Cantare
Mysterious Girlfriend X 04:

DELICIOUS. THIS WHOLE EPISODE. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WATCH IT!

Oka's introduction is already taking the show to fantastic new heights, and I'm saying this with yuri goggles completely off. Just when Urabe's callousness and general unpleasant weirdness was beginning to make her an unsympathetic character, the perfect thing to rein in Urabe's more negative traits appears at just the right time.

This is beginning to feel like Drool Note with Urabe experimenting with the limits of her drool's powers in interesting and unorthodox ways, and the payoff is good. With the discovery that
Urabe can do the reverse of what she normally does and understand the feelings of others by tasting their drool
, she can now
rely on others to fill in her own emotional inexperience with a literal taste of the emotions and experiences that she has heretofore been incapable of feeling for herself
. I'm hopeful that this will finally give Tsubaki the give-and-take that he's been entitled to from the start in his relationship with Urabe, but I do question how long their relationship can survive on physicality alone (if the show even explores this problem.)

MGX is also continuing its track record of neat visual touches. I noted and appreciated that light is actually bent through Oka's glasses so that the outline of her face is skewed slightly within the border of the lens. The retro art combined with the attention to detail does so much to make the series stand out. It's really something special.

Also, Tsubaki's imagination is once again awesome:

I warned you about stairs, Nanami! I told you dog!

You'd think Nanami, of all people, wouldn't be freaked out by a little brother-sister incest.

What is it about Ayumu's ass that makes it so irresistible?

This is one of those shows were stuffing it with silly filler is the best possible course of action though the way they seem to have forgotten about the existence of megalos is a tad disappointing. I still maintain that once it tries to introduce an actual plot again is when I bail out.

So is Digimon really that good? Or is just nostalgia making everything seem rosy?

Pugs are hideous.

:( What do you have against pugs? They're adorable.

Isn't that everyone's stance toward this show?

First time hearing Nel's dub voice
released form
. Velonica is still great. Uryu and Renji are hilarious dubbed. Nothing else of note beyond just viz having no music on any of the dvd menus in this set?

Potentially a 6 / 10. I just couldnt get into the animation style at all. If I may compare it to other popular shonen anime series that received movies, it just wasnt on the level of any of the Naruto Shippuden or Bleach movies. Mainly, the choices in the visual style was baffling at the start. It looked significantly worst than Brotherhood, as if they lost their touch in 1080p. The highlight moment was in the final twenty or so minutes, but then it had weird sketchy looking scenes though
the hands stuff was cool with everything in the lava
.

I actually enjoyed the final twenty or so minutes
with everything with Ashley and everyone fighting to stop it and what not. They handled that really well regardless of those animation moments
.

Major flaw is that
the story was felt like a retread of Brotherhood, in the vein of sacrifice humans for some giant transmutation circle? Could they have used an original concept, I fear if we get more movies or something else it will still use this theme...

Entertaining at the end of the day, and I dont regret my 20.99 for it. Dont understand why the 90minutes of bonus features is only on dvd and not the blu-ray.

Neither Mutta or Hibito caught that he had forgot an auxiliary and misspelled "fridge"? Lame.

The rendition of downtown Houston was about as accurate as one could expect considering the budget. Even the bus designs were very loyal. I am not particularly attached to the city, but living here I appreciated the effort the animators took to make it resemble the real thing.

This and Kids on the Slope are the only two shows this season that I feel have had no writing valleys yet. Everything moves at a brisk pace and continues to hammer on the same old rivalry/brotherly themes without feeling obnoxious. Mutta's insecurities come across as something that a real person would experience and not just another anime dork stereotype. Classy stuff.

Nanami's admiration of her brother may seem incestuous at first, but I think this episode demonstrated that she just does not know how to direct her feelings for her brother. She only ever treats people in two ways: with utmost disdain or utter admiration. She's a very simplistic character in that regard, and that may be why her displays of infatuation towards Touga are so passionate. It's not that she particularly finds him sexually attractive; she has no moral barometre to use regarding her status towards her brother.

I was disappointed that the anime didn't carry over the Longhorns nod from the manga:

What goes around comes around. Maybe if Nanami hadn't been such an awful person her whole life she'd have a better support system.

Touga's also a prick, though. Liked him better when he was catatonic.

That's it for me, tonight. If you're waiting for my reactions to something shocking, don't stay up all night waiting.

This was very relaxing as usual. The only issue I have with this is that a fair amount of the stories are about jealous and greedy neighbours fucking things up for everyone else.

It's a good thing I'd already adjusted my expectations beforehand. As has been stated, the direction felt awfully pedestrian and the imaginative background and color palette choices were nowhere to be found. The fanservice has also been ramped way up.

I'm still enjoying this nonetheless, if only because when you get down to it the subject matter is just downright creepy. I only need come to terms with the fact that the tone and execution found in the three previous episodes is no longer what I should expect out of this.

Was just doing some research, and it turns out the seiyuu for Saber in Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night (Ayako Kawasumi) is the same person who does Nodame in Nodame Cantabile.

Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum. XD

If you consider the ugly slab of flesh they call a face adorable, sure.

Real-life pugs are the spawn of Lavos. This animu pug, though, is cute.

You guys don't understand true beauty :(

Keep in mind some people consider Keyfaces adorable too.

It's part of the charm!

<_< Keyfaces are adorable. Am I alone on this?

Kenji: The very definition of a true bro.

There's something very heartwarming and uplifting about this show. I honestly feel like it's the feel-good show of the season. While it doesn't feel like there's any immediate tension going on, the show flows at a very smooth pace. The show manages to do something for me that not a lot of other anime does. It pulls on the heartstrings a bit. Maybe it's because I find myself relating to Mutta a lot but there's just moments where I feel... inspired I guess. Mutta is definitely one of the more enjoyable main characters this season as well. His personality, his quirks, his thought processes. He's a relatable character and one of the main reasons why I watch this show. I want to see where his journey leads and the process of him getting to his lofty goal.

Such a great show.
