Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

There's a difference between not getting what you want, and getting something to despise, which is what he was talking about.

He knows that it is in the playlist, and he also knows that people in the playlist like to vote for it. Quitting is hardly justified.

Alternatively people should be able to play what they want.
I can't think of another console game that lets people customize their game experience to the degree that Halo does.

Yes you are.
I think if there's anyone who can out-complain me, it's you.

Reasons whyi stay out of big team, multi team, rumble pit, team objectives, action sack, infection, team slayer, super slayer, dlc playlists, ...
To think about it, I only played zb and squad slayer. Sadly both won't exist soon.

I quit out of Team Snipers Hemorrhage matches, I quit out of Tempest matches, I quit out of AR starts matches, I quit of matches in which Risen wants to try and win. Come at me.

"I hate this game type and will be miserable during the duration of it."

That is a pretty good reason to quit. If you do it often, if the playlist is filled with things that make you quit, then it's probably for the best - for you and your teammates - that you do not play it. But I think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to stay in under all circumstances. For me, in Halo 3 it was BTB Heavies on Standoff. That just wasn't happening. With Reach, there's so much that I've stopped playing MP almost entirely. But I find it odd to begrudge someone who leaves games on occasion because their bane is voted in. That's rather extreme.

I quit out of all Big Team Snipers matches. I don't like Rocket Race very much, but I'll tolerate it.

And yep, I'm allowed to quit out of gametypes I can't stand. Although I do understand how frustrating it is when you're down a man or two.

Hahah, funny thing is.. I barely started a new personal project (pretty much a design) and I'm taking a few ideas from one of the two Halo 4 MP levels announced.

Also I used to post around when Reach got released, and even made some avatars that were used on the bnet forums :_)

But yeah... it's been so long since the last time I played, most people probably forgot about me :p

I remember from when I was awaiting approval and shortly after. I really wanted to snag one of your avatars, those were really sweet. Hopefully you do some sweet Halo 4 ones.

You're welcome Devo :p lol

Ha! I like your map. I hated it at first and I hate it with jet packs, but I've grown to like it, especially in Arena with no jet packs. It's the only community Forge map I enjoy and have fun on. Symmetrical, no good camping spots, and limited power weapons. I'd actually call it a competitive map.

Is there a way to read the bulletins and other news from the site from the Halo Waypoint mobile app? If not, it'd be pretty cool if that function got included in a update.

I don't find it extreme at all. Matchmaking is always a compromise. It's poor sportsmanship to drop out when a gametype is democratically chosen, in Halo or anything else. We all came together to find a game within a specific set of options (and in the case of people here, options that are usually known and expected), walking away after getting something you hate is just selfish and disrespectful to your fellow players. You shouldn't even be searching in a playlist that has options you hate.

I don't mind disrespecting people who vote for shitty gametypes.

Yes yes yes! CTF all day, fuck yeah.

I want CTF so bad, y u people no vote for CTF when it comes up?

I absolutely get that, and If every playlist was by game-type instead of the random shit that it is now, you could play exactly which game-type you wanted whenever you wanted and there would be no issues, or at least a lot less. But hey, i guess that's not simple enough for some people.

It has been a while since I went on NeoGaf, but someone has already noticed the grade system for Halo 4 seems to be very similar to Reach ? Maybe it's just some placeholders. David ? Frank ?

Not only was the UI in that build a mixture of debug, placeholder and real, but it even had the Reach loading screen graphics. Which the real game will not. There's no data in those screens which shouldn't be ignored or taken with a pinch of salt.

I saw "XP" in one of the screenshots. Is XP replacing cR?

I'm a big fan of snipers on Headlong. I saw it brought up last night but I forgot to chime in. I think a lot of times that big team snipers/4 v 4 snipers can be fun sometimes.

I'll duck out for a bit while you guys trash that opinion (lovingly, of course).

Halo 4 is taking on the mainline Halo 1/2/3 aesthetic in place of Reach's high noise/gritty path. Reach was a break from the norm that was enjoyable in most areas but honestly I'm glad to see 343 carrying on with the clean lines lower frequency details of Halo 3.

Visually I've loved everything I've seen about halo 4, and can't wait to see Sparth, Oaksford, and all the other guys concept work. It's just the mp gameplay that saddens me, but I'll still give it plenty of chances.
Agreed 100%.

I am not a fan at all of Reach's gritty/busy modern warfare weapon aesthetics and I'm glad 4 is back to the clean scifi look mostly. Not too huge of a fan of the grey Halo 4 BR (has a bit of that Reach/COD look) but the DMR looks awesome IMO, much better than Reach's. Too bad about the fuckin blooming reticule on it.. smh

I don't think anyone's opposed to the idea of having gametype-specific lists. I actually like that idea. CTF lists have always been popular (albeit temporary). But, I don't think that one idea is necessarily better than the other. I enjoy many lists that have multiple options. I get in the mood to play Slayer, DMRs, and Pro in TS, and I enjoy all of them.

I don't see why you couldn't have some lists be gametype-specific and others be a mixed bag. They both serve a purpose.

I think Bungie should have added information screens (like they did for Arena and Invasion) that describe what maps and what gametypes are currently active in each playlist.

Maybe there should be a server browser so I can actually choose what I want to play.
I'm for it. Why not?

I hope not after my experience with BF3s....
The problem with the way BF3 does it is the fact that you can't filter between DICE and private servers. Halo 4 could have normal matchmaking and a custom server browser separately. That would solve so many problems.

Lol still have no idea how that filter wasn't in the patch. I wonder how long it'll be til the next mega patch that brings up nearly as many issues as it fixed.

Yeah I fucking hate it so bad. They ruined the game for me with their latest update.

I don't like server browsers in general, I think they are confusing, inefficient, and frustrating but it'd be good for custom games. It'd need to be made super clear what you are playing though.

No kidding! They break more things than they fix in updates. Glad we finally can quit between matches though.

I hope not after my experience with BF3s....

Let's be honest, Dice dropped the dropped the ball with their UI design and some basic design choices.

Not being able to quit after a match
Not bieng able to see what the next map is until after it's loaded
Not bieng able to modify loadouts during respawn time
Server browser bieng shit, the filtering options also rarely working.

Active roster better be in 4!

Ughh.. getting back into Reach, forgot the horrible matchmaking stuff where people leaves and you're left on a team with less people and nobody else joins... It would be great if I could play with some of you guys :)

Can any of you add me?... my gamertag is M1k2121

I posted this earlier (two days ago or so?) but nobody added me :(

Went to add you... Apparently you're already on my friend's list! I'm down for Reach whenever.

GT is RebornYeti, by the way.

Really? Shit, the last BF game I played was Bad Company 2 and it had all of those things.

Personnally, i think having them by playlist makes it a lot less frustrating for everyone. I have no problem with having some mixed as long as they are all available seperately as well. I rather choose exactly what i wanna play rather than hope and pray for it. The way it is now is exactly why im fed up of certain maps and gametypes. Because people always choose the same thing of whats avaliable. And because thats the way its set up by bungie doesnt necessarily mean it cant be better. Why must we rely on them making the playlists? Why must juggernaut appear only certain times?

I personally hate the fact that i rarely play juggernaut or assault anymore simply because the people in the room wanna play the same 3 things all the time.

I see playlists now with 400 people, how is having a specifically designed playlist for every ganetype somehow worst? I dont think it is, i think its a lot better that way.

Imagine if you wanted to play CTF, and you just clicked on the playlist that said CTF.
Now imagine the Oddball playlist that would have 23 sad, sad people in it.

Most gametypes would die off, instead of being low weighted flavor to provide a change of pace to a playlist.

All of these things besides not being able to see the next map (in random rotational servers only) are false, or were patched a while ago.

I should elaborate.

you can't quit until after the next match has loaded.
You can't edit your load out until after the respawn timer has stopped, right?

You sure they were patched? I haven't noticed.

Imagine if you wanted to play CTF, and you just clicked on the playlist that said CTF.
Imagine if more than a few hundred people also clicked I want to play CTF...

I do think grouping in playlists makes a certain amount of sense. I almost believe removing some control is a good thing. Forces people to go outside of their comfort zone.
On the other hand that's nonsense, player empowerment all the way.

Haha I should be on later ‹3

That good, yeah?
It is pretty good. You can see it as a mix between Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls. The game is very story driven and you have to make some very hard decision. You move through a very mature fantasy world where non-humans are discriminated by humans and conflicts are everywhere. And some cut-scenes are pretty amazing. Look at this early cut-scene. (It contains a massive spoiler of the prologue.) Only the combat system is kind of hard at the beginning. But if you master it, you can do incredible stuff. The Xbox 360 version which comes with a map, a guide book and the soundtrack(which is pretty good) costs only $45 at Toys'r'us or 35€ at zavvi.com right now.

Condemned is shit.
It's better than the most on Disc maps in my opinion. At least I had much more fun on Condemned than I had with Sword Base or the most Forge World maps.

Kryptonite for gamers today.

Yeah, I can't believe they are just lumped together. So frustrating. I just want to play DICE Conquest servers. Quick play should also just be DICE servers, I think it's absurd that I can quick play Conquest and get some crazy weird set of rules.

I should elaborate.

-You can quit whenever you want now.
-Once the killcam screen goes away, you can edit your load out. You don't have to wait until the respawn time has stopped. So, you do have to wait for the killcam, but not he respawn timer.
