On Halo campaigns. I've recently replayed the lot of them co-op. Halo 3 and ODST seem to have gotten better. Halo 2 has aged worse than CE, which at least has its consistent, clean visuals and those nice detail textures on everything. Halo 2 is noisy in a bad way and the Xbox version was hard work.

I'd now rank them: 3, ODST, CE, Reach, with 2 a distant last. Just the campaigns.

You know if anything time has made me like Halo 2 more then I did. I used to rate Halo 1 & 3 above 2 but now I think all 3 of the main trilogy are without a doubt on par and my favorites.

I'd say I'd rank them in this order from most favorite to least favorite. Keep in mind least favorite means like 9/10 and not 9.999/10 lol.

Halo 1,2,3 (As close to perfection as you can get)

Halo 3: ODST (Great companion to Halo 2. Hub world though while fun to explore got a bit tedious if just wanting to focus on the campaign.)

Halo: Reach (Great campaign. Invinicible AI teammates weren't very useful and if anything were annoying. Loved the story though and how they manged to tie it into the main trilogy.)

I used to think Halo 2 the worst but the campaign really grew on me over time minus that ending. I really though do wish that Bungie had been given an extra 6 months or so to properly finish it. Yes they messed up development wise but they admitted it and once set on the right path I feel they should have been given a little extra time. I think Halo 2 would have been all the better if the cut levels would have been finished. They would have fleshed out the middle a bit and given the game a proper ending.

That said though being able to go right into Halo 3 really helps take away some of that bitterness over that ending. lol

I play MLG about as well as Ray Charles.

How so? To my mind Reach MLG is closer to previous Halos, which is exactly why I prefer it. Don't have to worry about timing your shots, movement's quicker, jump height's raised and the stable of maps have been shaken through a sieve to weed out the non-offensive ones.

He's saying he's playing badly in MLG, not that MLG plays badly.

That's what I thought, but I was under the illusion that Kyle wasn't a bad player, and I don't know how someone can be that bad at MLG if they enjoyed previous Halo's. Perhaps my perspective's warped because I've always preferred MLG, so I'm used to the general speed of play.

Just the fact that the're really regurgitating information at this point. Tease us with something, please!

one pound feesh, one pound feesh.

You nailed it kittens.
I won't call that "regurgitating". They have not done any feature about the new enemy. And I do think that the most people do not know about the story the Anniversary terminals are telling. At least they are going to check out Anniversary again for the Terminals. It would be really interesting to know how many percentage of every CEA player found all terminals.

I still don't know why you people feed these trolls

You keep feeding them and they keep thinking they're funny or cool or something

I don't think you can simply "list" the Halo games. Sure, you can enjoy one overall more than others, but there are so many aspects that each game does well it doesn't really do them justice.

For example, overall encounter design: Halo 3 > ODST > CE > Halo 2 > Reach
Story: Halo 2 > CE > ODST > 3 > Reach
Locations/environments: ....er...okay. This is hard.

Etc., etc.

In this scenario, who is you people? and who is the trolls?

That can really vary depending on your point of view, and opinion.

He's only at 95% Onyx. That's practically Silver.

I was Onyx in the beta.

Then I stopped playing Arena because it's a pile of absolute, unmitigated shite. Running round Countdown with a Sword is about the least competitive experience there is.

So Lockout TS/Ball wasn't competitive in Halo 2?

;)

You also have to account for the nostalgia warping effect on each title.

Not if you're playing competitive Jedi Slayer.

Unfortunately back in the Halo 2 days I was more preoccupied with Counterstrike, so I reserved my Halo 2 playing for LANs with friends. I played a fair bit of Halo 2 when I bought my 360 and didn't have much to play, although I don't think I started playing MLG until Halo 3.

343 should probably consider altering the name of the Arena to this. Makes more sense. Well, that or 'Graded Nublets".

In MLG settings during Halo 2 we didn't have the luxury (could be a blessing in disguise thinking about it now) to only go through different weapon sets through maps. On Lockout there was a sword in Halo 2 which brought more depth to competitive play (glitches did help it too) to widen the skill gap. I think we get too caught up in thinking we know what's best before trying it. I'm not saying MLG should have Plasma Launcher but certain weapons shouldn't be cut from competitive play like the Sword.

Everytime I post here, I've got to worry about people who can't pick up on subtelty, people who are afraid Frankie will leave, the Batshit Expectations committee, the coalition for people offended by the term Dee Slurper, HBO Campaign nerds, and garbage kids like juices. It's a veritable minefield.

Someone dig Eazy Bee out of his crypt and get him back in here.

That's why I take the overall package into consideration. I'm not going to say each game is perfect. As you said they all do some things better then the others and some things worse. You're going to have that with any series with multiple games. Well any series worth a damn. And it's always going to be subjective. We've proven that in this thread. When it comes to anything we'll never have everybody agree. If we all did this thread would be pretty damn boring.

You have a negative attitude.

I hope we will have something to bide the time til e3.. Even if they just started something cryptic and teaser style to tide us over.

in other news, Prometheus is officially rated R. Great stuff.

Correction, I have a negative attitude when you disagree with what I'm saying. When you agree with what I'm saying, I'm dead on the money.

Conceded.

Halo: Reach MM! Get them Dailies.

And who was surprised about it being Rated R? That's a fantastic thing.

Can't we have a marketing campaign for Halo 4 that's just gameplay?

I guess cinematic presentation is ok for showing campaign levels, but besides that i want game commercials to actually show what I'm gonna be doing 99% of the time.

Stop giving me lies like CGI trailers with touching/"emotional" music. This is a VIDEOGAME, where you SHOOT ALIENS IN THE FACE. NOT some music video, or movie.

God!

I'm curious as to which group I fit in.

Only racists notice racism.
Just because I'm from Dixie doesn't mean I'm racist, how many times do I have to say that!

Haha somehow those dont really cut it.. Ah well, maybe Ill play some battlefield 3 to kill time. (speaking of BF3, I would love for a gametype like Rush mode, where parts of the map unlock, etc...basically a more focused invasion)

And I honestly am surprised, I think Ridley Scott even though he would wind up with PG-13 for a while, but I'm pumped. That said, if I had to guess, the films edgy stuff will still be trimmed.
That leads me to one more segue, I would love if Halo 4 had a viral campaign similar to what is happening with Prometheus, some of those videos they have released are awesome.

I would love a Rush type mode, but I think Halo needs to get more than 8v8 nailed down first for that type of game to work, in my opinion.

Believe was pretty similar to Prometheus' campaign, no? Not so much viral, though...

No, you're uniformly a jerk. It doesn't matter whether you're right or not. It doesn't take much thought to express your thoughts in a better way, so you're either incapable or a dickwad of the Internet, first degree.

"A monument is erected in Kenya to mark the end of the war. Only five Spartan IIs remain alive, including the missing John 117."

Did not know this, are the other 4 the Spartans from Onyx? (I haven't finished Onyx yet, nor the newer books).

"The first Spartan IVs enter service aboard the UNSC Infinity. One Spartan II is equipped with Mjolnir Mk VII armour."

Which Spartan II is this? Kurt?

Both Glasslands spoilers. Kind of. I forgot the one who has the Mark VII, but Kurt was killed off at the end of Ghosts of Onyx. Fred, Linda, Kelly, that other Spartan II (it's a girl), and John are still alive.
