Why are black people so universally hated?

Not necessarily, some of it is an intrinsic fear of the unknown. A young kid 7 or 8 years old on my street when I was growing up answered the door to the first black person he saw in real life, and started crying his eyes out. His mother was mortified.

How does a child of 8 not know what a black person looks like? Did he grow up in a isolation cell?

Black people (Antis) are right after the Turkish, followed by the Polish. The reasons for the hate are different, though, it's hard to make a top 5.
Yeah, but it's pretty much Anti's(people from Netherlands Antilles). People from Suriname(though are comprised of 3 ethnicities, Black, South East Asian, South Asian) are generally treated normally.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
I'll be honest, every time I see a black man with a smaller penis than me in the shower I feel extremely good about myself.

False comparison. I'm assuming those are flaccid penises.

If you're talking about black people all around the world:

I think it's due to sub-saharan people being historically isolated from the rest of the world (Europe and Asia) for alot of time. I believe alot of common people located in these parts of the old world were unfamiliar with black people untill quite recent times. Since black people look physically different from the people in Europe, Asia etc. they were obviously seen as foreign and dangerous. I bet the mentality stuck with the colonisers in Americas. This mentality probably influence the dislike and mistrust that people around the world have towards black people. Good thing is that the mentality have changed in the most civilized parts of the world these days, but backwards people with this mentality still exist. I've noticed that most of the racist people I've encountered are actually quite ignorant about black people and just dislike them because of the prejudice they've been fed with.

Incorrect. We begin picking up on social constructs as early as 1.

So by 8, he's learned a lot. It is not "intrinsict fear of the unknown."

Its because they are a different colour. Seriously.

Yeah. But this thread is so stupid in the way the question is asked lol.

If there if anything that is universal it is that lighter skin is favored over darker in a huge number of cultures. Not sure on the theories why. I imagine that has to do with the image of the powerful and privileged (the admired) not being workers, thus not getting a tan. White "is beautiful".

If this were true then Samoans would be the most hated group out there.

Yeah, but Samoans are cute and huggable. Black people get generalized as vicious thugs... unless they are the magic negro, comic relief sidekick, or angry boss/coworker.

Yeah, but even then, black people in Suriname (the forest inlands) also cause a lot of trouble. This topic is a bit too risky, though. I'm out. :\

But what about South Asians?

I honestly thing that this is a part of it. Also gang/gangsta culture.

Yes, because

1. Everyone loved black people before NWA in 1988
2. Black people only live in the US
3. There are no non-black gangsters. See Hells Angels.

I think rap music didn't help.... It seems like a lot of it was a celebration of unfavorable social activities. I recall a lot of popular songs talking about drug abuse, murder, robbery, and other forms of violence.

This is just a thought.

I personally have grown up in Alabama, and racism is bad here. I hear a lot about how black people don't work, live off government checks, and other handouts. However, from working on an ambulance, I can testify that there is just as many white people abusing the system.

Here in Finland I would say that it's mainly because of bad experiences. Only black people here are pretty much refugees from Somalia and they are overpresented in crime statistics...That creates the cycle of hatred that only feeds more criminality and racism.

My mum said that I was scared of black people during a visit to Miami when I was really young. I wasn't used to seeing anyone that wasn't a pasty white nerdy kid, so it was a shock.

Maybe for some people that initial shock turns into fear which turns into hate.

The black people I know well, I like.

Imagine you're in a bad neighborhood, and a fit 30-something man aggressively asks you for change. What color is his skin?

1. Are you telling me that the perception of black people didn't change in the last 30-40 years?
2. I doubt black people are "hated" for the same reasons or hated at all all over the world.
3. I meant Compton or 50 cent "gangsta" specifically.

Because, according to statistics, evidence and portrayal of media (These are true facts scientifically backed), they are more likely to have guns, in the USA.

No, but on all seriousness. I don't get the hate, yet at the same time I wouldn't date a black person. I don't feel attracted to them and I don't spend time thinking about why.

No offense but you should stop posting now. This is borderline racism.

My girlfriend's father didn't see a black person IRL until he was in his 20's while serving in the military overseas. Of course, he's from Spain and it was a different time back then. Really opened my eyes.

In addition, he's a complete and unabashed racist.

This thread is a dangerous place.

Change from what?

Though this is slightly deviated from the point/question, I feel like the crack cocaine and War on Drugs did a lot to harm the black community, its image, and more in America when it exploded in the 70s (not that it didn't affect the white community either, though). With all the gang culture that arose from it, I don't think things will ever be the same with people's perceptions towards each other, at least not for a long time. Though some interesting things did come out of that era, that were uniquely tied to Afro-American culture, like hip hop music, and that has flourished and evolved in the past decades.

What change are you talking about? Are you really trying to tell me that being a black person before 88' was less prejudiced and hateful than it is now? You're are really going to make that argument?

And you're talking about studio gangsters? Wut.

It's all about PR. And our PR is shit. We've been painted as something for so long it's ingrained it's self into most cultures. We can't escape it even when we don't meet the stereotypes we've been branded with. White people are responsible for so much heinous and distrustful shit in our worlds history that it's almost unbelievable. But their PR is so on point it doesn't affect them much if at all.

Also penis envy.

It doesn't help that a lot of our people have decided to double down on the negative shit that's thrown at us though. Taking pride in and hamming up the negative connotations we've been associated with is a huge problem in our community.

Hmm...a lot of the Samoans I was around in Chicago were less than huggable. Most of them were affiliated with Sons of Samoa in one way or another.

But what about South Asians?

I bet you're talking about south Indians, like the Dravidian peoples? I doubt the Dravidians from India or indigenous people of Australian etc. were historically well liked either due to their darker features. The difference might be that the darker south Asians weren't that isolated historically, atleast not in India. I would say it's a safe bet that most people that dislike black people do it because they are unfamiliar with them (except cases in the US/Europe etc. which might be due to political reasons or something). As I said, I believe it's an old mindset that stuck throughout the world.
