Can anyone tell me if Fat Princess has a large following or something? Why is she in the game? It's not like a new Fat Princess is coming out (I think) so she's not even promotional material.

I guess they needed a representation of downloadable titles in general.
Fat Princess seems like one of the better fits from that point of view considering:
+ Fat Princess was the best selling PSN game at that point in time (today it is Journey).
+ She has unique physics / Playability.
+ Name/Looks stand out, it is a recognizable IP. Cartoony.
+ Female.

I don't think the fact that she's in the game is really worth questioning. She's a good choice. She represents several different niches all at once (PSN, Female, Fat, Non serious, Cartoon) and rounds out the roster with some much needed variety.

I think the real question you should be asking is "why is she at the front of the game's promotion where she doesn't really belong?" to which the answer is sadly "Because she's the only marginally recognisable lead character in the SCE IP base with a vagina".

I didn't say that. The bullets had zero to do with Cole. People understood Cole perfectly well through a combo of hints between pics one and two. That being said, the pics were intricately planned in such a way that more is in pics one and two than just Cole.

Pics 3 and 4 are not related to Cole.

Just give her some of the game's Spells/Miracles, have her Level 3 be summoning several Blue/Black Phantoms to wreak havoc and you're done!

I'm not sure I get the context. Toro - Heihachi proves that rivals are supposed to be between other characters from the game. If you are saying you want it to happen and have 2 opposing characters per franchise in it, I'd say I'd rather keep with the 1 per franchise rule and have as many franchises included as possible, but it's an interesting idea.

Maybe Paul Gale is the final boss of the game.

The game's original title was "Paul Gale Network All-Stars Battle Royale". But they realized that only 18-35 year old women would buy the game and that since it doesn't make up a huge demographic on the PS3, they went to "Title Fight".

It was agreed that I would still have a presence in the game but that it'd no longer just be about me and the different roles/hobbies/personas I carry.

Finally we came to a conclusion and named it PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. The good news is that to unveil my playable character, I plan on having the most elaborate setup ever: a picture of me! But this time, just in normal clothes, not yelling as Goku or dressed up like Tron...not standing next to Miyamoto or on stage representing US at a world martial arts tournament...no...just me as is.

People will be so shocked to see it that they'll never figure it out and that'll be the ultimate character unveil!

Of course I just spoiled it but I figure it's ok. The whole reason why I've been the one to slowly pull back the curtains of this game is because Paul Gale Network: The Game is coming to PS4 in 2014 as a new ip and they want to establish the main character ahead of time in PSASBR.

Final boxart I believe is just me flexing with a PS3 controller in one hand and Pre order special bonus action figure of myself in the other. Sounds about right.

Oh and many people did a great job with Cole.

Heh...and if someone ever actually did make a poll that asked if you'd want "Paul Gale" to be a character in the game, not only would I laugh out loud...way loud, but I might even just make a new q/a in which I'd make a good effort to answer some significant questions. Thats what Im thinking. It would also create a greater variety and choice selection for the player, bringing 2 characters from each franchise to oppose one another. It would be the ultimate show down per franchise sort of speak, to settle whose the best. The antagonist or the protagnist.

There's also the likelyhood that someone isnt really all that into Radec as character for example, and would rather chose to fight as Sev. And vice versa.

If they go with 2 characters per franchise I could mean theres a grander oppurtunity to satisfy as many gamers/fanbase of each franchise as possible.

it's definitely gold (the chart line), so saying it's yellow or orange wouldn't really be far off imo. i didn't think twice when you labelled it yellow. the red is also a tiny bit orangey like you say.

I'd say PaRappa is fan service.

At the same time, he's a smart choice for fan service as he also has a persistent cult following (see earlier post with PaRappa on google trends) so he's a drawcard for sales.

I know other things obviously are considered, but I'm sure a major consideration is:
1. Will the character sell the game => $$$
OR
2. Will the game sell the character => $$$

And if neither criteria are fulfilled, then there'd better be some other really good reason to include the character.

Thread's kinda too big for me to keep track of, but has it been confirmed that Paul Gale's 'hints' were just for Jak and Cole? That'd be kind of lame given how we already knew about them (and even then they were givens).

Somebody who hasn't been mentioned several times over yet I'd be surprised if they weren't in as a Capcom rep would be Dante. Possibly along with an RE rep since that was also considered a Playstation-only series for awhile, even if by the sequel it was already on the Saturn and N64.

This is what I've found that was posted here about Capcom in April:

A couple of points...

I saw the announcement and as I'm sure you noticed, it's shipping this year. Which means... I'd bet that they're at or near content complete for launch. So if you're asking us to engage now in the hopes of getting something in, it's probably safe to assume that if something already isn't planned for/built, it's probably not going to happen (at least not for launch).

Second... while I'd like to see some Capcom stuff in the game (it looks cool), this is a Sony game, not a Capcom game. I'm not able speak to what their plans or intentions are with regard to third party content. Again, it's a question for Sony, not Capcom.

I don't see where he flat out says that there isn't a Capcom character in the game.

I'm okay with this - Capcom has nobody I want to see in the roster. No one feasible anyway. I mean, I'd love to see Falcon from Power Stone or Roberto from Rival Schools (kicking a football into the opponents face FTW!), but I'm enough of a realist to know that the chances of either happening are zilch.

Probably been suggested already but a Valve-related character could be neat. It would probably be Portal related due to Portal 2 being the big game Sony introduced PS3-specific Steam accounts, so either Chell (easy enough to make a unique portal-based moveset) or GLaDOS, the latter of which would obviously be unwieldy as hell but if made to work the humor factor alone would be worth it. Otherwise all nine TF2 classes mixed into one character slot would also be a unique twist on the 'transformation' type characters Smash has.
