Extremely wishful thinking: haven't we only seen two Halo 4 jetpacks? The two seconds of Spartan Ops dudes charging and the descending Shotgun kill? We haven't seen a full-on use of it... maybe it is just a jump pack now.

I don't think 343 has removed jetpack or camo for any playlists. They did tweak camo a little in the TU but it still is nearly as bad as in vanilla Reach.

They did. There's plenty of playlists/gametypes without it. They haven't outright taken it out of the game, but the same can be said for bloom. Can't please 'em all.

Sweet. It's the least they could do after they refused to fly me out to SDCC or PAX.

Edit: Hey wait, there's no cheque on the way! You lied! Oh wait, that was you just disregardng my post because you agree with it too much.

No check? You might have to actually complain about 343's non-decisions for once.

Would have been fun to run a DMR/BR and a Double Barrel shotgun using Firepower.

Damn.

Sounds too much like MW3 with a Type 95 and Striker Second using the Overkill Pro perk with Damage Proficiency on the shotgun. Where u a kylej?

What was that pic Cyren posted earlier? Did he ever fess up?

Also, if shotgun and camo are both starting guns/abilities, I can't wait for Shotgun + Camo + Infinite Sprinters to run around.

It was screens from the beta which was however many months ago. Ellis already said the shotgun won't be a starting weapon. You can assume if you want that camo will have been unchanged but that's trough no fault but your own.

Welcome to Texas they said...

Looks like perfect Halo weather. Lucky bastard.

Ahhh. Nice.

With the lack of camo footage, all we can really do at the moment is assume but I am expecting that it and the Jetpack have been changed.

Also, how was your Viking Ironman thing a couple of weeks back?

I would challenge that assumption personally but yeah, given how they want to change the staple enemy designs, I don't see why those AAs can't get another lick of paint.

I didn't do a Viking Ironman thing... I did the 'mini' variant of an adventure race but it was a lot of fun (~22km in total). I escaped with a good few cuts on my legs from thorn branches during the hill running section. It was a reaaaally good day out and later suffered from sunstroke but the race was a lot of fun, thanks for asking. I'd really recommend that sort of thing.

This kind of sentiment always baffles me. I happen to know that you, in particular, have a more nuanced understanding of how game development works. That pieces are assembled in such a way that they can be tested, used, tested, used, tested. That the code WE NEED to work with is utterly different in conception than the product we intend to deliver.

And here's a note - that functionality is STILL in the game, so that, for example, you can play team Shotties.
I understand that just about every scenario/loadout/etc needs to be tested. I mean, you have to get that all my impressions are based off of very little info. What I was working with at the time was that for all I knew, spawning with a shotgun was possible in default Halo 4 multiplayer. Haha yeah, it was kind of stupid in hindsight, but the information came from the same guy who had somehow obtained a build, however old.

Like, I totally understand that because of Reach people would be sceptical about camo and jetpack, but at least wait and see them in 4, and see how they've approached them :/ I'm not saying it'll be perfect, but at least with Promethean Vision we had seen it and understood why it could be OP. But even that's already being addressed.

Blah. I just don't understand people.
Only way I can think of to balance jetpack is to approach it the way that's been mentioned, just a jump boost or something. I have absolutely no idea how to tackle camo, being invisible for any amount of time seems OP to me.

Wha... I...

Eh. Never mind. Frank answered you more eloquently than I would have. (The fact that you're judging 343 on what someone with a beta version decides to set up in their own home blows me away, though.)
I'm not judging them at all. Like I've said, I got burned with Reach badly, and it worries me that a few elements are returning, even though they haven't been thoroughly explained yet. However, like I've been reminded of quite a bit, I haven't played this game. Am I overreacting? Maybe
probably.
Time will tell though.

Unsurprised, but glad, that shotgun isn't a loadout.

Yep, it's garbage if you ask me. No idea why people like it.
I really enjoyed it. :( Then again I am a huge fan of angelology and demonology.. and puzzle type adventure games like this.

This is entirely possible. I hope it is true.

Must not be too bad, you still play every night.

If this game were nearly as shitty as everyone says then this thread wouldn't exist. Except ViewtifulJC, he stands by what he says and doesn't actually play.

How about the jetpack launches you into the air really fast, then you can crash down on your enemies with the fury of a thousand spartans?

Oh wait, space marine.

Might be kinda broken in Halo, double-jump would be better imo. But damn would smashing down on your enemies from jetpacking would be badass.

He doesn't play nearly as much as he used to.

And to speak for myself, the sole reason I'm playing Reach is because 4 is around the corner and the people I play with (except fracas). If 4 gives me as much enjoyment as Reach, then I'm probably done.

I'm a man of conviction. I really would LOVE to play with you guys, but I get absolutely no joy from the game titled "Halo: Reach". I think no matter what form Halo 4 turns out to be, there will never be a moment where I think, "Man, I wish I was playing the last Halo instead right now!"

Yeah, but, what if fall damage is still in, whenever someone jetpacks into a ceiling too fast, the Spartan dies!

Uhm, the only playlists without jetpack I can think of are arena, team objective, MLG, swat, snipers and grifball (some gametypes have it though) and as far as I know, Bungie had already removed it from those playlists. I can'r recall 343 removing the jetpack from any playlist.

The title update redeemed it
a bit
.

If I ever feel like I'd rather be playing Halo Reach over Halo 4, I will chuck my Xbox against a wall.

Fall damage is dumb, we're armored super soldiers with a gel layer that makes us float in water even though Spartan armor weighs like 1000lbs. (confirmed by Ellis)

When you fall from high up you should maybe have a stun for a second while you crouch down to absorb the fall as the ground beneath you shatters. Screw fall damage.

Misery loves company.

Stopped playing by myself altogether, I play now because of you dudes, and even then, I only hop on when we have a full team/customs lobby. Also, what's Reach's competition? I'd play more BF3, but I don't know many guys that play it, so I get stomped by myself. There's MW3, not even going into detail why it's bad. There's Black Ops, which I do still play occasionally. And from there, there's not too many multiplayer games that I like or that are still populated.

The guys you go into matchmaking with combined with the small player pool in Team Objective...there's no fixing that.

I can't say I know for sure either.

Ok, how many playlists to they add jetpack to? Serious question.

None? Well that's a good sign for Halo 4, right?

Pro-tip:

Press crouch right before you hit the ground.

How good Halo 4's Campaign has me hooked on wanting more and no doubt it'll be the only game I'll be playing constantly until Whenever I have work or I bust my controller.

All my anticipation is focused primarily on this game More than BioShock Infinite, which that game looks to be another master piece being placed in the depths of the sky in Columbia rather than the depths of the ocean in Rapture. These false Utopias are always gorgeous and dangerous in Halo & BioShock.

H4 needs to have anti-griefing measures. I was surprised Reach and 3 didn't start trying to fix that issue. It should have been apparent that it would be needed the first time someone threw a bomb in an out of bounds area in H2.

Yes but more importantly they need to fix their spawning system. A team repeatedly spawning in one area of the map so your team can all go there and kill them over and over is not just us griefing but a basic system failing to work.

The Zealot issue would literally take 20 minutes to fix. Then of course the time it takes to get into MM but still. Someone should be on this shit making fixes to things that are obviously broken. Nothings being done we are continuously able to do this to groups making it so not fun for them. Their game is being devalued by shit like this. I can see why kids go play CoD.

I can't tell if you actually missed the point, or this is a clever troll. Stopit...
Why would you complain about the spawns, then exploit them?

Sure, they need to be fixed. But there's no way in hell they will ever be. If no one's exploiting them, it's not even a problem.

Guild rules, theaters different than online/TV etc etc.

I went to see Spiderman* this weekend and I just missed it.

*Had free pass to Cinebarre (theater with alcohol and food that they deliver to you WHILE the movie is playing and it's badass) but couldn't use it for Batman, so I watched Spiderman, because I had heard it was good.

But apparently people are liars, because it was not good. Like, it had cool moments, some great dialog, but also tons of asssinine conventional garbage - and the Lizard's "plot" was almost as vapid as his vaporizer. It was kind of annoying to watch such a good cast and such good moments, only to have them connected by total tripe.

The nighttime swinging scenes though were beautiful. Literally captivating.

I was also completely baffled by Parker's switch between photography doofus and math-biology-genius-out-of-nowhere. Why didn't they just have him find his father's equation and leave his character alone? Also, is that a complete reboot? Or has that thread been in comics somewhere along the line?
Haven't seen it yet, but are you speaking specifically about the film? I ask because, in the comics, Parker was always a scientific genius in high school and early college; he just took pictures of Spiderman to pay the bills.

They included it in super slayer and it's in the anniversary slayer gametypes (the one without the 3-shot pistol). I do have hopes that they changed it for Halo 4 but I would've been much happier if they removed it. Same actually for all AA's :p

Oh absolutely, but the spawn issue is just a manifestation of the griefing. You can try to fix all the flaws of the game and people will just find new ways to beat up on other less skilled players. The overall problem that needs to be addressed is people deliberately ruining others' fun.

If those 2 guys were spawning elsewhere you guys would have just hunted them down and killed them over and over. What needs to happen is the game either makes that behavior impossible or severely punishes those exploiting the system.
