Assassin’s Creed 3 still playing catch-up on the WiiU to ps360 versions

AC3 was easily one of the worst looking WiiU games at E3, if not absolutely the worst. (Discounting stuff like Wii Fit U)

P-100 ran at probably 3x the speed, had much better IQ, more characters onscreen and a great DOF effect. Hell, Zombie U ran way better and had better IQ as well. The gap between AC3 and most of the other games there was pretty large.

Zombie U looks better than Assassin's Creed? Are you out of your mind?

A lot of people were expecting the best console version of the game because that one guy said that thing that one time.

It's a waste of a thread though, but it kind of highlights how some people filter their news (like our buddy pramath loved to do) and decide they are thread-worthy only if they are aligned correctly with their personal opinions.

At this point, only game I believe will look better is Alien:CM. The game is the only multiplatform game that has been pushed back. I think it's so that GearBox can ACTUALLY work on the game.

Have you ever heard of a "next-gen" multiplat game actually being INFERIOR to current gen equivalents? A first for everything

Yes. PES on the Wii shits all over the PS3 and 360 version. (I'm saying that because the Wii version pretty much runs on the PS2 engine model which is last gen)

The single player in Zombi U looks fine, but the multiplayer is...well, at least it attempts to be 60 fps.

When did you play the multiplayer? The build I played last weekend wasn't bad at all.

Though, I haven't had a chance to play AC3 on WiiU so I don't know what is better, but I haven't seen lighting and shadows done as well as Zombiu on anything other than a PC....

I've accepted that the difference in Wii U's graphical capabilities will be insignificant compared to the late current-gen ports it will be receiving. I am fine with that. Quite frankly, multiplatform titles look the same for a reason. However, isn't the real issue here come down to technical performance ? I suppose some Wii U games may look slightly better, but I am not going to believe third-parties will generally try to do this when they are still going to use the Xbox 360 as the lead platform and just port the titles to Wii U and slap on some nifty non-essential exclusive GamePad features and call it a day. I just don't see a compelling reason for third-parties to invest much resources into Wii U graphics when the difference is not going to be an undeniable next-gen leap. Beside,s Wii U has to build up a decent user base which is another reason why third-parties will care more about 360 and PS3. On top of that, those platforms have core gamers that are generally supportive of third-party titles. Wii U has an uphill battle to face in multiple fronts.

I can't wait for the Wii U to come out so we can stop having these threads.

These threads will continue and rightfully so until we see whether 3rd party games on ps4/nextbox get wii U versions, and if so how gimped are they.

If you don't care don't post, and if not caring is a wide opinion these threads will go away or at least fall off the front page fast.

Them not having the proper team size or time to do a good port is important to note, however it does still fly in the face of certain people on here who were shouting from the mountaintop that AC3 on Wii U would be the superior version as far as consoles go. At best they will get an equal port and that has always been the case.

Really? Isn't this game supposed to have a huge budget?

Wii U Experience in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago.

That would require reading.

Something GAFers tend to be adverse to.

People could certainly benefit from reading the source articles in these threads, but I think the bigger problem is the absurd, CLICKS-ABOVE-ALL-ELSE mentality that some people take to thread creation. This isn't some shitty gaming blog, you guys aren't getting paid for this. Hot topic + baiting title = another lame, by the numbers thread.

I don't know why people expected the contrary. Ubisoft themselves stated that they would not take advantage of the additional hardware power of the Wii U. The plan all along was that the port would be an equal version.

This is due to limited development time (which I'm sure has been stated). People don't seem to realize that they have to first port the Anvil Engine to the new console, and then port the game over.

I hadn't thought of that actually.

Too many seemingly value looking "cool" over having anything close to a competent dialog.

This thread really makes no sense.
I think everyone knows that RIGHT NOW the Wiiu is simply a current gen system w/ a new controller & maybe a year later we'll see a real bump in graphics.
The only real news that should be posted about the Wiiu games is how will the screen on the controller will be used during gameplay & what's the quality of the Wiiu's online network.

Hmm.. probably the same build i played in Austin... I didn't notice the problems you did. My only concern was how "floaty" the controls were, I later learned that your controls get more precise the longer you play with a particular character...

Hmm.... Right now it's a yet to be released system that we know nothing about, and the internal components will not magically evolve a year later. It either is or isn't... That's like saying a Bugatti isn't an exotic because a person is driving it on a country road with slow speed limit...

Is anyone that concerned with graphics and performance really going to consider the Wii U version over the PC version?
Not everyone is interested in gaming on PC mind you. So for those people what the Wii U has to offer in terms of visual fidelity actually matters.

Not to mention that in order to run AC 3 on PC maxed out you will need a pretty beefy rig, considering the game supports DX11.

Have you guys considered the possibility that nothing is true, and everything is permitted?

For example, the Wii U version can be playing catch up and still be the best looking version. Say, maybe they don't have all the effects up and running, but they have it at 1080p and 60fps. Ergo, best looking but still not caught up.

It's a madhouse in here. If you are interested in getting a Wii U, then you basically know what you're in for. If you're expecting much better graphics than current-gen and good quality ports from next-gen multiplatform titles, then it is a gamble you are taking.

Is AC3 in Wii U at 1080p/60???

Well, it shows pretty clear the level of graphical quality we can expect from WiiU. With superior hardware by a fair margin, the port wouldn't be a problem, even if there is not much time to do it. Just see how modern PCs can improve console games tenfold even with lousy ports. Even a piece of crap port like Dark Souls will look better on a PC (FSAA + stable 30).

So...Nintendo kinda did this "you will say *wow*" thing again and everybody fell for it.

I don't think it's as much them as it is that developers don't give a shit about putting in more effort to maximize the performance of a game on a given system when they can do less work, achieve a kind of parity, and just release it.. It's why 75% of PC ports are just garbage barebone ports, and I honestly did not expect any different with the Wii U.

I could see how they'd have to jump through hoops to get it up to speed on the Wii U. From what I understand the game engine uses the CPU to process sound and physics. Considering the SDK leak, the WiiU appears to be designed to send those processes elsewhere.

Still firm on my belief that WiiU will actually end up with slightly less performance/visual prowess than PS360 - despite the supposedly beefier specs. Nintendo's that good.

There's bound to be some Xbox game worse on Wii. As long as the U version is ballpark with the PS360, no one is actually going to care, be it better or worse.

Totally agree, but it's also the reason I won't be considering it a next-gen console.
It won't matter in the end. It's all about software and nintendo fans love the brand and will buy it regardless
