Hour of Borderlands 2 Coop Footage with Randy Pitchford (+mechromancer preview)

I really like what they did with the UI.

Already have the preorder sitting on my steam library. I hope there's gonna be a pre-load.

Watched the whole thing. Holy fucking shit.

So glad I took off two days for this game. Easily my most wanted game this year. Plus, it should run like a dream on my PC with all those crazy effects. Even better I got it down for 40 bucks on GMG.

Is the loot going to be shared with all the players? I hope there's a dice roll for legendaries if so.

That's a good question. In BL1, it was a free for all. Whoever got it first, kept it. I guess it's the same now. You'll just have to hope people will trade with you or be willing to drop it.

i think the system will stay the same as Borderlands 1

loot on the ground= first-come first-served

reward for mission= given to everyone in the party

Do they mention the specs of the machine? Looks like physX effects were on full and the framerate was silky smooth.

Not sure if these are "official":

Borderlands 2 system requirements (minimum)

CPU: 2 GHz dual core 64-bit Intel or AMD processor
RAM: 1GB of system memory
Graphics: DirectX 9 compatible 512 MB graphics card, Nvidia 200 series series or AMD Radeon 4000 series.
Operating system: Windows XP SP2
DirectX compatible sound card
12 GB of hard drive space

Borderlands 2 system requirements (recommended)

CPU: 2.8 GHz dual core 64-bit Intel or AMD processor
RAM: 2GB
Graphics: DirectX 10 compatible 1GB graphics card, Nvidia 400 / AMD 5000 series.
Operating system: Windows 7
DirectX compatible sound card
12 GB of hard drive space

You can't really judge the framerate of the game from a compressed YT video, now can you :P I doubt they'd demo the game on hardware that was less then capable of running the game smoothly though. The particle effects and PhysX stuff were in full force.

I remember playing Borderlands 1 and was kinda bummed when I realized people had modded weapons. Kinda lost interest after that as searching for some godly weapon was part of the joy in the game for me. Hopefully we won't run into any of that this time. I read that they fixed it in Borderlands 1. Looking forward to Borderlands 2!

I laughed out loud when Pitchford was describing the notorious "girlfriend" skill tree and how hard he was trying to make it as politically correct as possible.

Having an enemy die in one headshot every time in an RPG like BL would be like having every enemy die from one hammer smash in an Elder Scrolls game. It should only happen in the endgame when you have the best equipment.

I see what you mean though. Personally, I'd rather Borderlands go even more into RPG territory than see it try and compete with non-rpg fps games like Halo or Battlefield. Then again, I'm one of those crazies who was not bothered by Morrowind's swing-and-miss combat system.

Enemies do react on hits depending on where you hit them. In fact it is actually one of the better ways of taking out enemies.. You can make them reel back and possibly stop them from short cool down big attacks that they can rail you with.

Humanoids in Legs/Heads. Robots in Arms/Legs to take them out and have them crawl or just fire from one arm or just their charged laser eyes. etc etc

PC version was confirmed to use steamworks for multiplayer right?
Yes.

Played a level of this at MLG this past weekend. It was fun. The guns were better than the first game. The graphics looked sharp. controls felt wrong (was playing on a ps3), but i got used to it. Overall it was a fun demo that I played a couple of times over the course of the weekend.

Grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, aunt, dog, cat, goldfish, teacher, brother-in-law, boyfriend, boyfriend's friend...

Yes.

Awesome. I think thats one reason why I never (yeah yeah) finished BL1...even after the DLC sale. Its extremely fun with 4 players, yet Gamespy gave me so many problems...I just kinda drifted away.

Salvador or Zero for me.

Is there a GAF steam BL2 group yet?

1 hour? Well I know what I'll be doing this morning. Thanks for sharing!

Wrong compared to Borderlands 1 or wrong because you normally play PC/Xbox 360?

Oh has there been any word on whether or not there is going to be a HD texture pack available for PC eventually? The textures in the video were kinda bad even accounting for youtube compression and at first I thought it was a console version but then they showed physx and mentioned it was running on PC.

So I haven't kept up with this game and just watched this video and I'm hyped beyond belief. Borderlands 1 ran at (quite literally) 10 of so FPS on my PC and I chugged along with it until I could no more because I couldn't react to things fast enough.

Hate to be that guy but: How many players split screen can this game have on 360?

If 4, this may be the greatest game all year, but I don't really have faith in devs being able to pull that off anymore industry-wide, since split-screen gaming gets so subjugated in favor of online.

"Does Borderlands 2 support split-screen multiplayer?
Yes. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Borderlands 2 will support two-player split-screen including the ability to play online while in split-screen."

I still believe Borderlands is the only game this generation that has relevant and actually good DLC. It's shocking :P

*cough* Rock Band *cough*

As somebody who got 1750/1750 on BL1, I would classify this video as softcore porn. Lots of teasing...and blue-balls (JUST SHOW ZER0'S SKILL TREE ALREADY!).

I already know this is going to be my GOTY 2012, I loved the first one so much and you can see how much TLC they have given the sequel, especially the PC version (the first port was terribad).

I just hope the endgame is fleshed out beyond the one boss they mentioned, maybe some randomized areas for high levels.

I didn't watch the whole hour, but did they add a button to use health packs during combat? That was such a strange design decision in the first BL. Why give me health packs, but only make them available in a clunky way over the inventory?

man, why couldn't this have been a giantbomb feature? I still can't stand the gamespot people, and giantbomb is in the same friggin building.

Let me guess, input lag like every UE3 fps on console?

Btw, on green man gaming they seem to be having one of their 20% voucher things.

Dunno what the price is in your region, but here in australia it'll reduce the price from $50 to $40.

Pitchford has such a strong personality

I'm willing to believe most everything he says. He could be a politician

Hey Adam, those Borderland 1 save unlocks for the skins in Borderlands 2, do they just have to be ANY save or does it have to be certain characters, achievements, etc?

It's part of the fun!

Yep. I was replaying with a buddy who was a first timer, and I kept telling him "just grab everything you can and sell the junk so you can have money to buy the good stuff" but he kept on insisting on picking up each item individually, comparing it with his inventory, and then dropping whichever one he didn't want.

So to keep the pace going, I resorted to just grabbing everything I could so he wouldn't hold the game up to which he replied "dude, how am I supposed to get better if you keep taking everything?"

"I told you to just grab everything and sell the junk! Here, have this pistol."
