For GTAForums: This image was found on the fan website gta-v5.com. This website is notoriously known for publishing fake info in an attempt to gain more page views. There are countless other suspicious fake stories which originated from this person's website.

This is not Rockstar's style.

Smart words,gta-v5 has been publishing fakes for months. It´s not a professional website, for me has 0% credibility.

And yeah, GI cover announcement is close, I hope to see a big V there. We will see.

A sign for what?

They've said on twitter they can't say "It isn't GTA" every month, because we'll know when it is so I think they'll probably just keep their mouths shut. When the cover eventually is GTA V, not even hinting about it might be the right course of action.

Of course it's even more likely that if they're not teasing the cover that's because there's nothing worth teasing.

Hope you are right. Could also mean it's the most boring cover of all time. We'll see. I'm a gamer so I'm getting my hopes up right now! ;)

What is the legitimacy of this map?

Looks like way too much work was put in. Didn't want to make a new thread for it... but you know.

EDIT: I have a larger version of this, imgur compressed it though.

I wish.

I want Vice City back.

edit: but then again, I'd rather the game be mainly about Vice City, and not a small part of it

The whole 1080p thing shouldn't be used to prove that's a fake because all of Rockstar's current gen games list 1080p.

It's still probably fake, but yeah, just throwing that out there.

Don't 360 games actually usually list 1080p among the available resolutions, because the 360 can upscale all games to that?

EDIT: Even my PS3 version of GTA IV lists 1080p, and I now recall you can actually force it to output that resolution (upscaled from a lower one, of course) by unchecking 720p in your PS3 video output settings. So "1080p" doesn't really mean a thing here, and neither proves nor disproves anything.

Random, but has anyone else seen these LCPD mods for GTAIV where you play as a police officer going around taking care of domestic crimes, chases, hit and runs, fights, robberies, speeding, running red lights, giving parking tickets, etc. etc. Would be a great concept for Rockstar to take and run with as a flip on their "play as the scumbag" crime games. I think an LA Noire sequel should become a hybrid of these and longer running investigations.

Just looking at that fake map makes me depressed now. Oh god i would love for the game to be that big. That would be nutso.

Only if you knew when they started.

What are you basing your October 2013 assumption on?

To your point - I'm sure they're shooting for April 2013. I'm sure that's their goal.

I just think with the scope of the game ("biggest yet") and them re-engineering the Grand Theft Auto formula, they'll see unexpected delays and in greater frequency.
It won't be figuring out technical problems like they had to do with IV - it'll be making sure that the world is fully realized and detailed and making sure whatever they're doing with gameplay is working and fun.

Go look through old GTA IV screenshots: a ton of stuff changed from those screenshots. Niko's character model (hair, face, gloves, jacket), Little Jacobs' character model (and clothing), buildings were added or removed, they removed bringing escorts/girlfriends home, etc., etc.

Also Houser said in November 2009 that they'll "think of a city and go from there". He could have been bullshitting and I'm sure some preliminary work was being done before that but even so, October '13 will be roughly 4 years of development. I think that's their cutoff.

Expecting unexpected delays I see.

You might be right of course - I just don´t think so. The risk with next gen around the corner is just too high.

Yes! I totally agree with you. Thought the exact same thing when I saw that mod.

Understandable if they don't want to incorporate that sort of thing into a GTA game, but an L.A. Noire sequel, or some other game with new mechanics like that could be really fun.

Not just that.

They haven't even shown the protagonist or anything real on the story.
Whenever that stuff is released, we're 6 months out.

We'll see but you make it sound like they have a choice when it's released.

It'll be released when it's done and the screenshots strike me as stalling tactics.
"Hey it's still in development, it's not vaporware, buy our stock".

They're not going to box themselves in like they did with IV by releasing a flood of stuff only to have delays.

Anyone know of some podcasts from when san andreas was launched? were podcasts a thing back then?
No and no. I scoured the fan sites in 2004 looking for any scrap about San Andreas so I'm sure I would have come across it.

I missed that they didn't expand on this in the other GTA:IV episodes in IV when you stole a police car you could go through the on board computer and 'solve' crimes.

Wow that sounds awesome. Yeah somehow I don't think Rockstar would ever bother with such a thing.

Also when I was replaying IV after reading about people not wanting to kill females, it seemed to me that a good majority of the people whose cars you jack are male.

And I'm calling it now (a guess)
One of the 3 guys is a cop
.
I'm thinking V is going to be half Heat, half The Departed, fused together Rockstar style.

I still can't get my San Andreas working well :( windows 7, steam. Everything is super dark. Not even mentioning the controls. Anyone have a thread/blog/website that has a guide to getting downgrades and enb and controllers working?? I try but it just ends up crashing :(((

How the hell did you deduct that? In the shot from the trailer i just see fog and generic lights/palms, could be anywhere on the map, not even one sign or landmark indicates that it's that lake spot.

Just ignore tuna on toast.

He ground his GTA IV disc down in to a fine powder and then snorted it.

Everyone expecting that huge-ass FAKE map to be real must be smoking some good shit. I mean, seriously, do people think that game assets with the detail required for a GTA-level open world game are made by magical fairies in a time-warp? Especially unique areas? C'mon guys.

The most we can expect is a map that's the size of JC2, and even that's stretching it. Most likely it will be RDR sized.

I think R* confirmed it's going to be their biggest game yet and the real life LA is actually pretty huge sprawling-wise. We'll see.

I always loved all the fake shit leading up to a GTA release.

Always just extracting a ton of information from some tiny ass picture or assuming a lot of things. Then all the fake maps and "information leaks". That's what makes GTA releases fun to witness.

i miss GTIV, and was wondering if gay tony and biker add on are any fun?

Balad of Gay Tony is great. Great cast, great missions and great length. It's all a bit more lighthearted, especially after the thoroughly depressing Lost & Damned, which I didn't enjoy one bit.

If you miss GTAIV you should definately give the Episodes a shot.

JC2 is a lot bigger than the fake map
