My personal Mario Kart ranking:

Mario Kart > Mario Kart > Mario Kart > Mario Kart > Mario Kart > Mario Kart > Super Mario Kart

Isn't that the entire point of the movie? plus I always thought it was kind of realistic in a sense, in that most female teenagers would probably do silly things, if they were given a time jump ability similar to makoto in the film.

I can understand doing stupid things if you didn't know you had a limit however even when she does, she essentially blows through it. The last one in particular pissed me off due to how absolutely stupid it was. I mean even most teenagers I assume would be more ambitious than she was.

Most of the time I was worried on whether I'd get to the pizza line in time for lunch.

It's something I expected to like a lot more than I actually did. I love time-travel movies and so this was really a disappointment for me.

A common trend I've noticed is that people who watch the movie because of the time travel aspect are often the ones who dislike it the most.

I can definitely see why as they kinda skirt around paradoxes and a lot of the components that actually make time travel interesting.

I don't really like spelling it out like this, since the film leaves it unstated for a reason, but since some people seem to have trouble understanding this point,
it's extremely unlikely Makoto will ever meet Chiaki again. I'm also not sure how fixing things with the time leap would be "meatier," as their entire goal is to fix it so that things don't happen. None of the final scenes are unnecessary because they're the conclusion to Makoto's character arc.

Maybe if I said that on Gaming Side, hahahah.

Sometimes you've just gotta take a step back and realize that there are other things to do than just killing baby Hitler.

Exactly, so she ends up like her aunt as an old maid waiting around. It's a particular theme that I never really liked anyway, mainly that of just waiting for things to happen. In regards to the very last scenes, it's something that I feel if they weren't going to do anything with, then they should have cut it as Makoto and Chiaki's farewell would have sufficed just as well. They don't jump far enough for there to be any real interesting revelations or changes.

But that's not the point at all. The last scene makes that clear.

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Thanks to KO Travelling Hobo for posting the Funimation stream of Texhnolyze in another thread. Watched it over the passed week and man oh man, I was not prepared for that ending.

This is like when someone tries to sneak into a party that started 3 hours ago and acts like they were there the whole time.

Hey, I'm kind of a fan of time travel storylines, as such I appreciate that TGWLTT is different than the majority of them because the time travel in the movie serves to let the audience better understand Makoto's character. That's it's major purpose in the story, as opposed to the story being about time travel.

I will say, you might want to watch the live action movie - which incidentally stars the same actress found in the anime movie - if that was one of your hang ups.

Because the
time travel direction is reversed,
things are much more... conclusive.

It was a joke. I won't do it any more if that's how you feel.

Ah, sorry. I can just never tell if you're joking or not. I don't want you to change the way you post, it's me that needs to learn how to differentiate between harmlessly ripping on posters and being aggressively douchey. I'll stop being offended by it.

I don't see how anyone could take him seriously anyway, with that avatar of his!

Are you talking about the 2010 sequel? There's the 1983 version, 2007, and 2010 live-action films.

Well obviously it's something I need to work on too since firehawk had blocked me until recently. Time to start using the sarc mark.
