A new Pokemon Dungeon game was announced for 3DS. Can someone please tell me how much this series has sold before?

Lots.

GBA games did 1.5 million, DS games including Time did 2 mil.

EDIT - Well okay, technically the first installment was one GBA game and one DS game (why again?)

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
So WiiU will launch for around the same price as the 3DS did last year. But with a way stronger lineup ( NSMB U at launch) and in the holiday season. Its also the same price range as the Vita is. I wonder how much it`ll be able to sell...its time for a home console to sell as much as they used to a couple years ago.

How much is Vita up to now in Jap (including a memory card)?

Well Nintendo couldn't have picked a better time to release WiiU since there is zero competition on the market. It's really just up to them to make it sell.

However strongly it launches, we're gonna have a few weeks of "the important data is where it settles at in the new year"

Expecting a PS3 price cut at TGS so this holiday will be interesting to watch for sure.

A new Pokemon Dungeon game was announced for 3DS. Can someone please tell me how much this series has sold before?

Pokemon Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (GBA, 2005) - 715,054
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (DS, 2005) - 761,617
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Time/Darkness (DS, 2007) - 1,574,006
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky (DS, 2009) - 448,025

I'd say 400k should be a lock, given it will be the first RPG Pokémon game on 3DS.

Red and Blue Rescue Team were basically the same game, and Explorers of Sky was essentially a Platinum-style Director's Cut of Time/Darkness.

For an original title, I'd say significantly higher than 400K.

I didn't know that. So yeah, it could do very nice numbers, especially if it's going to be a holiday release.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
It's also the first entry with 3D graphics. This could be a good factor, too.

Oh my goodness! Screw the Vitas numbers, the Japanese market is sickly. 3DSLL numbers includes bundles, yes? Anyway, after MH what's next? New shit needs to happen.

I've said this a few times but the PS3 is looking kinda dead. Its sales are really starting to fall behind last year, will be interesting to see if they can turn it around. Espcially with competition from wii U.

Oh Vita. Even if TGS is 90% Vita related, I can't think of any realistic situation where it'd spark more interest and sales. Bit sad really.

Even with this title 3DS holidays release schedule isn't yet fully unveiled.

Vita showed signs of weakness already from second week. Wii U initial hype could last a little longer but everything will be clear in January.

So will the 3DS pass the PS3 before Vita pass the Xbox 360 in lifetime sells?

I was wondering the same thing. The 3DS is very close to surpassing the PS3, and thanks to Miku (I still don't get that thing) it PSV is on the 360's ass.

I think the vita is doomed this holdiday season. The 3DS being around was bad enough but with the Wii U on the scene as well I think the vita will really struggle.

I'm seeing this sort of sentiment a lot, and while I accept it's a possibility, I don't think people should *assume* that the Wii U will be a big success off the bat.

Of course, significant game announcements could change that, so we'll see!

It launches with the successor to the best selling home console game in years - if it doesnt sell well from the start in the holiday season this would be reeeeaaaaly concerning. DQX HD will also hit near launch i guess. So far NSMB U is a bigger system seller than everything the Vita had at launch and in its first year.

But yes, big 3rd Party announcements will help.

and this is true also considering New Mario as a weaker brand now (3DS one for example) compared to those days (when Wii and DS settled unprecedent records)

NSMB2 shows quite impressively that NSMB alone isn't going to sell consoles these days. At this point, the Japanese software line-up is still a wasteland, but hopefully that will change in a few hours (or at TGS at the latest). If not, I don't see the success of the Wii U as guaranteed.

WiiU will at least be a success in its own terms, but its unlikely to hit Wii levels.
[This is unless it takes the PS2 place, but I'm unsure, I do think Sony/MS need to be careful price wise though]

It'll still affect Vita though. The WiiU launch line up (*okay Reggie's version of a 'line up') is stronger than the Vita's entire library and its up and coming library.

Vita is going to get drowned out the market. Once Miku stops selling I have to question how many Japanese game stores will keep Vita's 'well stocked' and not just selling off what remains.

WiiU/3DS takes up storage and shelf space.

It doesnt need to be as big as the Wii/DS titles to sell system at launch and a while after that - its still way bigger than titles like Uncharted or EG at Vita launch.

3DS in Japan didnt even need NSMB, since it was already selling to it potential. NSMB 2 is a nice addition to the lineup, but its already one of many already released Mario titles on the system. Its no Monster Hunter or DQ - but as a launch title, you definitely can do worse.

Japanese Wii U's price seems to be reasonably convenient, and NSMBU is a potential hit, so now it's up to third-parties to show a good line-up to make the most people to jump in from the start.

Regarding this, I'm expecting Square-Enix fully revealing in a few weeks time what special features - e.g. chat - DQX WiiU version will offer to make it better than Wii one.

3rd party games for WiiU that were announced at Nintendo Direct now:

- Musou Orochi 2 Hyper
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2 WiiU Edition
- Zombie U
- Rayman Legends
- Assassins Creed 3
- Mass Effect 3
- FIFA 13
- Dragon Quest 10 Online
- Monster Hunter 3G HD Version

There were some logos of Tecmo Koei games after Orochi 2 was shown, but i didnt see what those were.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 WiiU Edition has Nintendo costumes (i saw Peach, Link, Mario and Bowser).

Buying the WiiU premium package gives beta test for DQX WiiU.

Cross save (and/or play?) with 3DS version of Monster Hunter 3G HD Version.

WiiU premium set bundle with Monster Hunter 3G HD Version + Gamepad Pro controller for about 38500 yen.

EDIT: Didnt know that Bayonetta 2 was 1st party.

Romance of the Three kingdoms 12 and First of the North Star (2?) port.

Well MH3G HD could sell quite well, but there is the issue of how many sales the one game has already had. Still, cross play is a good feature and could get people double dipping so they and their friends can all play with a big screen.

Was there any videos of it? Is it a 'proper' graphical upgrade or Monster Hunter type upgrade?

Anyway, on 'now' - could this kill the 3DS version? I was expecting a Christmas bump, but maybe not. Could get a bump in the run up I suppose.

WiiU is looking very strong though. Any '2014 console plans' should be out of the window, I think we'll start seeing the shift to E3 announcements very soon. If Sony don't turn up with anything...man...their gaming side will be dead across 2014.

Thanks :) I would guess Fist of the North Star 2, since that is coming out soon for PS3 (and maybe Xbox 360 too).

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd had sold about 4.5 million copies with the PS3 HD version came out, and the PS3 HD version ended up selling about 400k copies.

I was also thinking how this will affect the 3DS version. I think it can go both ways because of the cross play stuff. But we'll see :)

EDIT: Is Bayoneta published by Nintendo by the way? I wasnt sure because i saw a Sega logo there.

Yes, it's Nintendo published.

And on a broader note, I think this signifies that Nintendo is looking to build a lot of tight relationships with smaller to mid-tier Japanese developers. Even to the point of reviving cancelled games.
