Bayonetta 2 - WiiU (Director: Yusuke Hashimoto, Pub: Nintendo, Supervision:Kamiya)

But people are able to play it if they really wanted to. I understand that buying a console for one game isn't the greatest bargain, but it is what it is.

And judging by the many comments against it, it's not even that it's exclusive to one platform. I sincerely believe that it's only an issue because it's Nintendo's platform.
It could be.

As for me personally, I think my days of buying multiple consoles are long over. I can't justify it considering I don't often have the time to play the games I have anyway. And my assumption is still that the other two will have better overall support - although if the winds change and Nintendo becomes the home of next gen's third party then maybe I'll end up getting to play Bayonetta 2 I guess.

I have a feeling that threads for future Wii U 3rd party exclusives will be just as entertaining.
I really don't expect it to happen often. Unless Nintendo intends to use up all its cash reserves.

as a butthurt double betrayed sony fan i won't support this game even if i get a wii u eventually

fuck you sega, kamiya or whoever is responsible for the decision to piss off supporters of the first game

Oh man this thread needs to be archived.

is there any reason why people are assuming the game wouldnt have existed if not for nintendo? sure the PS360 versions existed and were cancelled but it seems just as likely to me they were cancelled because nintendo wanted to buy exclusivity, or is there something that indicates otherwise? I feel like I'm missing part of the story here

Game Informer's EiC tweeted earlier that he was pitched Bayonetta 2 for the cover and at the time it wasn't on the Wii U.

People claiming to be Bayonetta/Platinum fans are blowing my mind right now. Isn't TWO games from Platinum enough to warrant buying a console? I was sold at P-100.

Not in this economy, no.

Where does all the Nintendo-hate come from this, regarding Twitter/FB? Platinum seems like the perfect type of studio to do more edgy Nintendo exclusives. High dev pedigree, great history, specializes in wacky stuff, Japan-based. As long as Nintendo doesn't try to force feed them IP's in the future they'd do well to cultivate this partnership, a lot.

If only Mikami hadn't left, we might have seen a really awesome new Nintendo IP... :(

It's not so much that they're not a good fit for Nintendo, it's that Nintendo burned a lot of bridges with the Wii IMO.

This is the funny part:

It wouldn't exist without Nintendo. This is what makes most responses in this thread so funny. Denial at its finest

That doesn't change the fact that if you're not planning on getting a Wii U it sucks that you can't play the sequel to a game you like.

Honestly, i don't understand the rage here. Sega wasn't interested in funding a sequel.
If it is the case that Nintendo funded the development of the game, why would it want it to be on other platforms?

All I can say at this point is deal with it. Complaining and whining isn't going to get it to a console of your choice. If you don't want to get a Wii U for the game then act as if the game doesn't exist.

I think much of the rage is coming from people not realizing that the game wouldn't even exist without Nintendo. Sega wasn't going to publish it. It's very much like a Sleeping Dogs situation. That game would've been dead if Square-Enix didn't pick it up.

Nintendo are always in this state of damned if they do damned if they don't in regards to "hardcore" gamers. They can never catch a break :(

Anyway I liked the first one, good to see that a second one will see the light of day.

Ah... But is it improbable that another publisher, for example SE, wouldn't have picked it up - considering the work was presumably some way along on the PS360 to sell to an established audience on an already large installed base.

Who could then also make a Wii U port.

Ergo, everybody wins.

that doesnt really answer the question, I know it was on other platforms and that it was cancelled on other platforms, I'm just not sure how people are sure it was cancelled on other platforms then nintendo bought it, rather than being cancelled on other platforms because nintendo bought it?

Two friendly pieces of advice

1- If you are really really mad about this game being a Wii U exclusive, take a deep breath before posting.

2- If you are really really mad about the posters referred to in point #1, take a deep breath before posting.

Yeah. Nintendo stepped in. As far as I can tell from this thread, they've gotten some of that audience. As stated before this is a niche game so I'm sure the majority of the fanbase will follow the game no matter which console it's on.

Meh. Death threats on twitter aside there's nothing wrong with expressing dissapointment in a civilized manner.

Threads like this really bring out the creepy in people that put more love (or servitude) into their preferred corporate masters than the actual games or the developers that create them.

I love just loving games. And if something huge I want ends up on a system I don't have or didn't plan on having, I'm always welcome to (eventually) get that system. In addition to whatever game it was that tipped me over, I always end up opening the door for many, many, many more great games on that new platform.

because sega was doubling down on only their most successful franchises. anarchy reigns was going to be a june release, and seemed ready to go. then stuff happened at sega of america and it got pushed all the way into next year.

also, what forever said.

You misunderstand. Nirolak (moderator), ShockingAlberto, and other posters here in the know have confirmed that the game itself was cancelled. Not a version of the game, the game itself. The timing coincided with Sega getting into deep financial shit and cancelling basically everything. It was dead. Now it's back on a different console with Nintendo publishing it.

Situation: A beloved IP, Bayonetta, is dead. The likelyhood of a revival seems astronomically miniscule. Out of nowhere, Nintendo funds development of a sequel, instantly reviving the revered franchise from certain oblivion.

The immediate response of certain enthusiasts was as follows...

An attempt at fabricating a narrative that doesn't actually exist:

A reminder, for history, that the above responses were these gamers gratitude for the unexpected resurrection of a dead franchise that they apparently love.

It's also a reminder that you run gimmicks in to the ground until they become obnoxious.

Hey why don't you make a Star Trek gif about it.

Given it's a Sega owned IP even now, what 3rd party would even consider this?

Given the totally shipment of the first it's incredibly unlikely Micro or Sony cared, and if they did it's unlikely Nintendo flat beat them out if they had been serious.

I had no idea this game had such a large following. Awesome for you guys who like it! Wish I felt the same.

I'm actually kind of confused because I remember so much hate towards this game when it came out. People hated the oversexed Sarah Palin character design and despised the shoddy PS3 port. Is it the typical "time has passed now the game is better than sex" thing that happens a lot with gamers?

Not much of a comfort if you'll never get to play it. Again i am glad it exists and will likely get it eventually when i have the money. But not everyone plans to own multiple consoles, just sayin...

have you even been keeping up with the thread? nothing wrong in expressing disappointment, but some people have been posting some primitive shit

Can I just say I am flabbergasted by deciding you will never buy a console before it comes out?

Like, I can understand "Nothing announced so far appeals to me."

But "I will literally never buy this, I hate that they are putting games I want on it" seems utterly insane to me. This seems like a thing that makes sense to say in five years when the library is all out and still nothing appeals to you.

I dunno, I guess for someone that is willing to buy a system for three or four games, deciding before launch that I will not get it does not make sense to me, nor do I really expect any explanation to make sense to me. I don't think my tastes are so narrow that it permeate my stubbornly open mind.

I really don't expect it to happen often. Unless Nintendo intends to use up all its cash reserves.

It should happen frequently enough. This is Iwata's plan for third party collaboration in action; something like this doesn't make sense as a one off. Moreover, a dead Bayonetta sequel doesn't strike me as a particularly expensive acquisition.

So... people are mad that Nintendo is doing what they've been complaining about them not doing for years (getting 3rd party support)?

Am I reading the salty comments correctly?

Was always amazing to the people that played it / knew what was up. I was a little iffy about the character at first but, imo, if you have a problem or are turned off by her as a main character you didn't really play the game.
