Kirby's Dream Collection |OT| Celebrating Kirby's 20th Anniversary

I'm not denying that it's great, but just that there are original tracks they could've used.

Oh yeah, totally, I'm kind of just reminiscing about the confluence of surprise at it showing up in the late game and glee from hearing a familiar tune in the amazing style of Epic Yarn's soundtrack.

As for the CD itself, it would've been nice to get another of its unique offerings instead.

Oh yea...forgot this was coming out this month...too many good games out this month. Ugh...sucks I have the Kirby games I want from this collection but I may pick it up anyway! I can keep it until I decide I get a Wii U (Sometimes in 2013/4 I suppose)

I won't get mine until tuesday it says with shipping. I just hope the box isn't all beat up like my zelda box was last time a soft box was shipped.

The Gamestop I work at only got three copies including the one I preordered. All three were gone by early afternoon and the other two went to kids who were super excited to get to play six new(to them) Kirby games. I told them both to take good care of them and not trade them back in because they would probably be able to get back more than they paid for them if they choose to part with them later on. It's a very well done collection.

I loved the Zelda one last gen but it left off too much (LTTP, LA etc)

Their reasoning behind this, if I recall, was to sell more Game Boy Players. If you had a cube with a GBP and this collection, every single Zelda game available at the time was playable on it(except for those two CD-i ones, and they dont really count). Man, I gotta fire that thing up and tackle the Oracle games again.

I managed to 100% Kirby 64 for the first time today. I played the crap out of the game when I was younger, but I never took the time to go through and get all the shards.

I already played Kirby's Adventure and Dream Land on the 3DS recently, so I might try Dream Land 2 here in the next few days.

I have to echo all of the positive comments in here. The little History of Kirby section was great.

It's like 18 in x 7 in x 13 in.
It didn't come with the game, but the Japanese can get it for like $30.

Picked up my copy at GameStop today. The girl at the counter had no idea it was out and, apparently, my copy was the only one they got.

So happy with this set.

Had no idea the game used restore points as well. Kinda messing up my trying to restart for Extra game in Kirby 1 though. Tried turning the system off, resetting, so I guess the last option is to delete the restore point?

EDIT: Nevermind lol, managed to reset properly.

Confession, first time I've ever played Kirby Adventure.

The original dream land is cool for historical purposes, but I don't think it's a very good game. Adventure's awesome so far though.

I am not a huge Kirby fan, but Adventure is by far my favorite Kirby game and my 2nd favorite NES game.

Future Kirby games are good, but everything feels... bigger and slower, I guess. Bosses, enemies, Kirby himself... In the NES game, everyone and everything feels fast, light, and agile.

Also, best music in the series.

Dream Land's fun, but it's practically the equivalent of a throw away iOS app (well, maybe a two or three dollar title rather than a one dollar title). You can beat it really fast, and that's that. Every other game afterwards was far more robust, I even recall finding the original Dream Land boring but Adventure to be one of my favorite NES titles, though the addition of SPECIAL POWERS from absorbing enemies was awesome to me as a kid. Always tended to want to play platformers that gave lots of special powers and forms best though, at least when I was younger though now that I think about it I'm not entirely sure that's gone away.

Bought 2 copies of this; 1 I'll play and the other ill keep sealed. Trust me, I learned my lesson from the Mario set.
Bestbuy.com was already sold out of this online. (priced matched Frys)

Companies should learn that it's stuff like this that the fans love (cough megaman cough)

Playing these make want to celebrate

Would have been nice if Capcom handled the MM anniversary disc package on their own back then. Maybe throw in a soundtrack and some special looking cover art. I think they did the X collection on their own though.

But Capcom had 2 Mega Man anniversary things.

True, but I personally feel that kinda like the sonic collections, MM should be dusted off and given a new collection every generation. I personally don't believe its whoring MM out, but I believe that like sonic, his greatest tales should be represented as much as possible.

Could you picture if capcom would only do a set like this for the 25th anniversary. Nothing crazy like the 150 dollar street fighter one, but let's says using shit they already had done, for example :

Megaman 1-10, the two arcade games, maybe a rom of mm soccer
Megaman X1-6, plus battle and chase
Megaman Zero 1-4

And maybe the remixed tracks, bit of artwork, that g4 Inafune interview, and the pilots for the Megaman animes series, with a nice cd/book combo like Kirby's set. (and if we're lucky 1000 achievements/platinum for beating all the games, something simple)

Let's say they call it limited edition and under 40 bucks. People would lose their fuckin minds! (I'd buy 2!)

People aren't asking for anything grand, just a little nod, instead of jack shit like metroids

I've always loved the Kirby games hardcore. Until I recently replayed a bunch of them... yea, nostalgia did a lot for these.

Adventure and Superstar should hold up as far as older titles go. Havent played Dreamland 2 yet, so I cant speak on that. 64 wasnt bad, just a little slow. The recent Return to Dreamland is tons of fun and maintains the perfect pace imo.

Dammit I think I need to get thi tomorrow, even though I don't have a Wii at the moment. Gotta get it before it becomes super rare, and that booklet and the CD seem pretty great.

Besides, you can never have too many ways to play Kirby 64.

Hell no, I'm always amazed at how fun early Kirby still is. The music, the graphics, the simplicity, it's all so charming! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I'm sad that Kirby doesn't celebrate his birthday in the PAL regions... I really wanted to get this! And perhaps if our Club Nintendo is ever awesome, the massive round Kirby plush that Iwata was holding.

But I'm going to celebrate it my way:

Happy 20th Birthday Kirby! :D

Wow, this snuck up on me. Will have to pick it up later this week, looks like a quality set (unlike a certain other anniversary relesse) I'ma gonna have to find a way to get that plush.

The box is so pink and cute and I think it should be round.

Man, the guy at my EB said that this collection wasn't selling there, where in comparison to the Mario ROM dump, those sold out really quickly. He had a few people cancel their preorders for the Kirby collection, even.

Nintendo actually put some effort into this one, but maybe they'll start selling when Christmas rolls around.

But GAF, it's time to celebrate Kirby's birthday and people had better not steal his cake. >:|

Heads up for those of your with a Fry's nearby, Dreamland Collection is $30. If you don't have a Fry's within a reasonable distance, just price match it at Best Buy. That's what I just did.

I wonder what happens if you beat Dreamland 1 Extra Game...never done that before.

Also, does Dreamland 2 use the SuperGameboy palette at all or is it just B&W?

B&W I think...actually lemme check. Yup it is.

EDIT: Some of that Twinkle Popo concept art is amazing. Kirby running towards a huge floating fortress, blazing eruptions with an ominous looking castle in the background...wish some of those were realized in the series at some point. I'd like to see the Dreamland 2 mecha-tank concept pop back up as well.

Also miss early nineties bad guy design, where almost everything wore shades lol.

I'll trade in my 2nd copy of NSMB2 for this game tomorrow at Future Shop
To be honest, I don't really want to but my brother's begging me to do it >_>

Who knows, could be the perfect opportunity to play and beat more Kirby games. Finish Epic Yarn first then work my way up from the first released game to Kirby 64. I still haven't touched The Amazing Mirror from the Ambassador program either.

That's a lot of Kirby games <_<

Target got one copy in of this game.

I called gamestop and they told me that this game doesn't exist and that they didn't get any copies in.

Eh, the whim is gone. Spent the money on some PSP games instead.

Yesterday when I was waiting an hour for them to sell me the game the dude working the register asked me if Kirby was a nintendo character

Picked this up today at Target. there were at least 2 copies left in the shelf after mine, for whatever that's worth. Very nice package, although I almost don;t want to read the book and crease it up. >.>

I ripped the CD to listen to later, is there a better way to get Englisn names and information than manually going into every file and entering in details? Cause that's getting a little old.
