If you want Buriki art, Denpa Onna does it a thousand times better
and has the bestest waifu ever to boot!

Unfortunately no internet stream + no cheap foreign disc release means I'd have to blind-buy it at Japanese prices, and my allergy to SHAFT visuals makes me think that'd be a bad bet.
But if someone wants to buy me the Japanese BDs, I'll be happy to check it out!

ive already seen that show and it wasn't too great
King Arthur has been bastardized more often in western media than Japanese anyway
Yeah, F/SN wasn't that great, but it had Rin so it was okay to me!

Hyouka 2 - 12

The mysteries didn't felt cheap, a lot of anime enjoy putting critical element required to solve the puzzle completely hidden, then have the main character will present it at the very last moment when they gave their "genius deduction skill".
This was the biggest problem with Gosick's mysteries. It's why, although the mysteries in Gosick were much more "intense" (and there were enough complaints about Hyouka's boring mysteries for me to know that this was important to people), I think Hyouka handled its mysteries a lot better. Gosick is much more interesting as a suspense/romance series than a mystery series.

If the show does well, then we will probably see it.

From the Purple World 1

I went into this almost completely blind. That was a bad idea. This is the kind of the setting that I have a ton of trouble getting into. The whole "civilization regression" thing always seemed dumb to me. Also not a fan of the plot progression. The promising intro made it seem like we would get a more thorough explanation why the world ended up the way it did, but it just jumped ahead meaning it will either be revealed later and/or we'll have to fill in the pieces ourselves. Not a fan of that kind of story-telling, at least not with this setting. Didn't care for it in Utawarerumono either.

It's a shame too, because I really like the cursed ability. It's like a more versatile telekinesis. I just wish it was given more attention rather than taking a backseat to some boring folklore.

If the manga is more like To love Ru, I might just read that. There were a few things in the preview for the next episode that have me intrigued, but I'm 95% sure I won't be keeping up with this.

Edit:

And then Envelope developed psychic powers and went on a killing spree.

I would be more receptive to the show if it was mostly this. Elfen Lied it up.

You are. Why do you think you aren't?

I can't believe we're even talking about gathering the Decors a third time, but then again the item collectathons in Precure are generally a joke anyway. There's no way that a young viewer could ever derive any sense of how much "progress" the characters are making because there's so much moving goalposts and playing hot potato over possession of collected stuff between the heroes and villains. You should experience the clusterfuck that is collecting Notes in Suite Precure--there's no established number (they just get thrown in a jar), there are so innumerably many that they just run around town plucking them out of grass and catching them in nets, and the notes get stolen back and forth so much that it loses all meaning.

If there's a new upgrade in Smile, they're probably just going to swap out mythological creatures in Rainbow Burst again. Pegasus -> phoenix -> ???. Probably not enough budget for more than that.
I wonder if it's better if it's random if only because then it doesn't feel like there's a set time for each power up. With these decors, you know exactly when something is happening... and how ridiculous it is that they have to keep getting them.

The fact that they lose their powers and then have to power up again via the power of love (or some variation thereof) is kind of funny as well. But I guess kids have short memories. lol

If otaku demanded actual finality in their endings, the industry would be dead by now.

And man, unless I'm forgetting something big, when Hellsing Ultimate wraps up this December it's kind of going to be the end of an era. It was an OVA for pretty much every reason that something is ever an OVA--high production values, niche audience, too violent for television, you name it. What's even in the OVA pipeline that can compare? I can't claim to know how "big" OVAs were in the past, but given how common they were then versus now, something changed drastically.
I just hope the trend isn't to just shoehorn in extra episodes that they can't do for TV onto disc or the net or whatever.

But I suppose the idea of direct-to-otaku sales only works for proven franchises now.

This is true in a sense .. but i enjoy godou anthics in the books , it's always great to see him planning something to control the girl or prevent her from doing too much ( any of the 4 ) and watch everything unfold in the worst way possible leading to misunderstandings everywhere ..

That and i love how the author explains and describe each fight properly ..( and give enough time to shine to everyone involved )
So the protagonist is more of a dick in the books? lol

Hidamari Sketch x SP 1

The first half of this episode had some ghastly computer graphic rotations. It has had its uses in the past, but not like this.

The second half, on the other hand, was much better. It's a simple pool episode. I prefer my "special" episodes to be more novel, but this was alright.

Of course, what's a day at the pool without a pajama party afterwards?

Shin Sekai Yori

I will say that this is one hella confusing episode. It's hard to get all the myths, legends, terminology, and such down therefore creating a massive drift between the material and the audience. However, it is still very interesting.

You're not supposed to understand everything. It's supposed to pique your curiosity.

Nice conclusion to this experiment although in the end the only person left with the issues unsolved is Taichi.

This is truly the dark horse show of the summer season despite the bullying controversies.

Damn it, now I have to wait till next year for Michi Random.

Nobuna 12

Ok, that wasn't a bad episode. I guess. Action, Nobuna being useful for once, even more action. But of course, it was pretty rushed, I guess stuff got resolved but hell, it looks like they are just teasing for a potential second season. Also, Saru still proves to be pretty useless now.

I may watch that. But I would rather watch another season of Sengoku Collection instead.

You people really are trying to get to OT2 before half the shows have a chance to air, aren't you.

Also, I've come to the conclusion that I'm one of the only people who regularly posts in this thread who doesn't hate Asuna with the fury of a thousand suns.

Yeah, it's not a new technique. A little show called Lost used it as well.

I never said it was new.... T_T
