Fall 2012 Anime |OT| Meet the new world, same as the old world

Nah, it's pretty nice actually.

I just don't find little girls doing cute things appealing, at least in anime media. I love when my little niece does these things, though.

It's a problem with the context: why there's a little girl doing these things there? I think it's... cheap. I don't find the cuteness pure enough, in most of the animations. It's like they put it there just to catter more sales. It bothers me.
Sounds like you're overthinking things, broseph. It's cute therefore it is.

Eh, I don't bother to think about it that much. If it's cute to me, I don't bother to question if I should find it cute. Just a difference in perspective, I guess.

Edit: I guess a better way to explain it would be: If I find a story touching, I don't feel as if it's cheapened by the author trying to make it touching. I just feel that the author succeeded in getting a reaction out of me. I guess it goes back to what Regulus Tera said.

You could say the same about the vast majority of every entertainment media everywhere.

Yeah, but there are some animes where I can notice that much more than others.

Basically, the animes centered on cuteness feels very cheap for me. So I try to avoid. That's why I don't like Slice of Life normally, unless there's some element there that I really like, like good comedy or parodies.

For example, Nichijou Ep. 2 had that crazy scene with the two girls and the notebook. That's made me watch the next episode, because the anime wasn't really doing it for me before that.

I can see where youre coming from, but Cuteness makes me smile. It makes a bad day better. It makes a good day great. It makes life awesome.

Why is slice of life cheap?

Little girls doing cute things without a context, but just... because. That's why I find it cheap. I find it more acceptable as manga, since the chapters are fast and when it's 4-koma.

@cajunator
Yeah, I understand your point. Cuteness != Funny for me, in most of the cases. Sometimes, they overlap though.

It uh ended. There was action flying around, everyone had one final kiss and yeah that's about it.

So a series about a world where everyone communicates via kissing. It wasn't bad but lost some of its appeal midway through. The fights weren't bad but it was probably the whole harem antics that worn down the appeal. But, we'll never forget the kissing. Probably.

Something was definitely needed to bridge between the end of Code Geass and the beginning of S2. The changes were hilarious and had to be trolling.

I thought it was fine as it's part of the experience. Watching the first episode of R2 was the epitome of "wtf am i watching??"

Code Geass was the epitome of "WTF am I watching?" Did you want a compelling cast, interesting story, or at least the semblance of a well thought out plot? No? Well that's great, here's some pretty mech action!

Damn, Agito has made me realize how much I hate most Geass season 1 and all of 2.

Miku by itself isn't that nice (her voice is even annoying sometimes), but what some guys can do with it are amazing. Some of the music they do/arrange are really good, even though I'm not too keen on J-POP. Some good shit there, like some techno and rock arranges.

That's what I got from the first season. It was thrown out in the second to carve episodes from the very essence of cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to sitting down with Akito sometime to see if it's more of a return to the first season's military mecha goodness as I can't handle more insanity in my weakened state.

Code Geass had an amazing cast and you sure as hell can't say the story was boring.

No it's not supposed to be a bridge.

It's just a side story, and is probably going to avoid the original's "plotline".

For all intents and purposes, code geass need not exist for you to enjoy Akito.

WTF am I reading?

Lelouch is one of my favorite characters of all time.

Geass is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Leloch is one of the most obnoxious, annoying, faux-smart protagonists there is. I can't stand him. C2 is kind of a cliche character, Kallen does so many dumb things that it's impossible not to be infuriated when she's on screen, and the villains are despicable and not in the "love to hate them" kind of way. Everyone in that show is either dumb or a horrible person.

Definitely. While I might like other shows better and think more of their quality, watching Geass as it aired, getting trolled so hard week to week, and finding myself unable to do anything but come back for more abuse left it as one of the most entertaining experiences I've had.

Lelouch is probably one of the smartest protagonists in anime for one simple reason. He scientifically measured his powers. Unlike every retard who gets a superpower and fucks around with it, he tested the limits. He also knew when to quit and had his limits. Also how the hell is CC cliche? Another thing, the whole point of the show was to point out how everyone was a horrible human being. Suzaku was a backstabbing little shit and both sides were just as bad.

So, I guess drama, angst, new character for the hell of it and something's gonna happen? I dunno. Watching this many below average shows at once is making me turn off my brain in order to actually process what is going on.

To try to explain my hatred of Lelouch some more, it's the same problem I have with Light from Death Note. He's a cocky, over-confident, pushy asshole who happens to be working toward, what he believes at least, is a positive future. He has every unlikeable trait in the book, yet the writers expect me to like him because the people who he's working against are worse.

On another note, just watched a bit more One Piece. Got to the
Human Auction
stuff. Holy crap that's dark. This is supposed to be a show for kids? Wow. Would have loved to see 4kids deal with that one, hahaha.

The reason people don't like Light is because he has a full-blown god-complex which serves as his primary reason and he's also a huge fucking hypocrite.

I don't like Light because he has no redeemable human qualities imo. Lelouch is more likeable. People like characters in two different ways. If they would like them if they were people in real lives. Or they like the character because of the portrayal.

What I know from Geass is just so damn fun, not only for the anime but when its airing back then internet is the shit, even R2 became massive trainwreck those time are fun. No show has ever bring time like that since then, not even close.

Yeah both sides are terrible and I hate everyone. I guess the show got its wish. And just because a character is smart enough to test the limits of his power doesn't make him smart. Most of his actions later on just make him seem like an idiot. As for C2 being cliche, she's a magic girl with amnesia that happens to wander into our main character's life. She takes her personality from about every other "mysterious" magic girl in anime. Sure, I've never seen the exact same character in another show, but I've seen close enough ones to be experiencing serious deja vu.
