On that note, back in the march up to Reach and Halo 3 days, we had a spoiler thread warning image I parked in the OP's when the leaks hit. Not sure if anyone wants to whip something up this time around.

I wish I could tell you that NeoGAF fought the good fight, and the leakers let it be. I wish I could tell you that - but the internet is no fairy-tale world. They never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile - internet life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, videos would show up with fresh spoilers. The jerks kept at it - sometimes they was able to lock the thread in time, sometimes not. And that's how it went for NeoGAF - that was their routine. I do believe those last three weeks were the worst for them, and I also believe that if things had gone on that way, this place would have got the best of them.

Not quite, it's rough all the way through. But if you're infantry, basic isn't shit compared to when you actually get to your unit, it just prepares you for worse. The "newbie/cherry/FNG" phase is a motherfucker.

Who knows though, maybe there isn't one thing you can hang your hat on for Halo 4 in terms of spoiling. Like a one liner "Snape kills Dumbledore".
Maybe it's more of a sum of its parts type thing.

5 years in the Army infantry. Two combat deployments totaling 2 years 3 months in Iraq. I was an NCO (non commissioned officer). I'm out now, have been since 2008.

Enjoyed the second episode. Frankie was a welcome surprise, had to go back and make sure it was him lol. I didn't really like how they seemed like sharp shooters, getting a hit with almost every shot, while they were running towards the flag. Not really accurate of how it typically is while running and shooting IMO but even big budget movies do this, so it doesn't bother me too much. Looking forward to episode 3.

Yeah, I'd never last in the military. Not my style. I did enjoy being able to take Marksmanship in high school without becoming a pickle, though. They were jellis when we walked through their class with our rifles and no uniforms on
We also have to keep convincing my stepdad to actually use his veteran status and go to the damn VA.

If you're serious, you're an idiot. I haven't actually served like Shogun, but I have been yelled at by drill sergeants and I can assure you that they don't dick around.

Yeah I smiled reading those comments earlier about how "yelling by drill sergeants does nothing to make you harder" and how it was mean that the female drill sergeant took their food, etc.. If all you got was yelled at and missed a meal, that was a good fucking day. Especially boot camp. You have no rights. You're not treated as a human. By design. Depends, only ever had 2 fights at school. But I've done martial arts for 2/3 of my life and I try and get practice in when I'm not at the dojo, whether it be stamina training or whatever else.

Btw, when it comes to the spoilers out there, so far I have only seen a video that shows the menus with prologue and mission 1 descriptions.. But the fact that is out there confirms its in the wild, which sucks. So in other words, the flood gates are going to burst open soon.
Waypoint has been a cluster fuck last few days as far as I've seen.

I have no problem with the personal ordnance drops, it is the global ordnance system what is more random and is questionable.

edit: Oh, you said personal ordnance drops. They're lame but only in one gametype (as far as we know).

I don't mind the drops since they are only in Infinity stuff. It adds another interesting gametype to try out. I'll play it a bit and see if it's something I like.
This is still TBD for me. In the game I played I didn't notice it at all, but it's one of those things that will take 15-20 rounds before I can make a judgement on it.

That'd be the same as standing next to the rocket spawn though right? Only difference is a random power weapon would drop. So instead of, in Halo 3, knowing you're dead 100% of the time in that scenario, you could get lucky and see a sword drop by him, and have a chance to kill him.

I was thinking of it from my team's perspective: cannot predict what will appear where, and therefore cannot base plans or strategies around ordnance acquisition or control.
He mentioned the flip side: you can't predict what the other team has, or will get. Big problem.
Whether they got sniper or rockets is important. If they got the freaking Binary Rifle is really important. What Duncan did with it on Ragnarock on his video was dismaying, to put it mildly.

They just read the basic training thread that popped up in off-topic a while back. Next episode will feature Lasky trying to stay fit but only being able to have UNSC rations is giving him puffy nips.
I wonder if the juniors (lead by zoojoo) talk about Tunavi as some sort of death lord while pending approval. That would make a good canon way to put you into the GAF machinima that'll be coming out. :lol
Speaking of which, some sort of render-to-video function notwithstanding, does anyone have a working HD capture card (barring NOKYARD because I feel like he'd be too busy/above all that) that would be willing to help with the machinima? I really hope if we get a render function in 4 it allows for a 720p download option rather than just render to youtube.
Ragnarok has very visibly static weapon placements and personal/global ordnance drops are both forgeable and toggleable. In a perfect world they'd keep both in Infinity and if there's too many complaints, the "Hardcore" playlist would have them disabled. Even though some things like limited flag settings and no Assault may be questionable setpacks, I really really respect 343 for adding so many options in custom games. You guys might be upset we can't change movement speed by increments of 1 or health recharge by more than increments of 10 or little things like that, but the fact that we can change ordnance, alpha zombie traits, Dominion sudden death traits, toggle fall damage and the like is awesome. Halo 3 was pretty good about it but Reach was ridiculously bad about modifying settings even post-patch since they weren't visible in the UI and you had to save variants off of Matchmaking.
