Why would they have them in? When I worked in retail we would get them the weekend before, same went with my friends who worked in other stores for new items.

Halo pistol, you had a hard life.

I'm honestly of the belief that a proper Magnum (the H4 one would either just be labeled as a "sidearm" or a "Pistol") should return that functions just like the Halo 1 Pistol. What were the average kill times in Halo 1? A little more than the minimum kill times in Halo 4? Thing is though that I personally think many people are missing is:

There's no comparison in how much skill it takes to use the H1 Pistol over the later rifles in Halo games, so the whole "H1 Pistol would kill too quick compared to other rifles" is just nonsense in my eyes. Think of it this way, since it's so much easier to get a 5sk using the DMR than it is to get a 3sk using the H1 Pistol, shouldn't that balance itself out? Hell, maybe they should've made a powerful Magnum as an Ordnance Drop like the SAW is an OP Automatic, I think that would've made a lot of fans shit themselves tbh lol

And yes, I'm fully aware that fighting this would be like trying to climb Mt. Everest with no arms/legs while covered in baby oil, so I won't even bother.. those who get it though will understand why I like this idea ;]

Another thing I was thinking of while engaging in my wake-up-and-poop routine (that's where I get some of my serious thinking done!) is how disappointed I am with the Falcon not returning for MP. I mean, how could not you bring back the Warthog of the Sky?! If they were worried about how it would play in a MP where people can spawn with PP's, then why not just change the way it functions when you get stunned? A simple change could've just been that the turrets get disabled, but you can still fly around thereby turning the Falcon into a flying deathtrap.. Would this not have been a suitable change? I sure hope that's not the reason it wasn't included into MP because there are ways to change something instead of just removing it altogether ;\

I just don't understand why they would remove something that's unique to the rest of the sandbox that would've filled a void now left since its exclusion. Shouldn't the obvious process be to remove unwanted/unnecessary fluff instead of removing/excluding the parts that make Halo's sandbox greater than other games on the market?

Hey, but what am I bitching about right? Halo 4 at the very least looks like way more fun than Reach lol

Super multi quote post incoming...
My brain gets distracted too.

That kind of makes me want a grunt.
Another non-tease tease.

I know what some of those things are.

Level 21 to get emblem backgrounds, and you don't even get display. ;_;
We have to level up to unlock emblems?

EVA helmet prereq is a motherfucking commendation level?
Commendations unlock things? Ugh.

Im bummed we don't have to find skulls, nor are there any new ones.
Really? That added so much more fun to Halo 2, Halo 3, and CEA. Hopefully the terminals will be fun to find.

Wait, X's over your death area are gone, AND friendly fire is off? Please tell me this is not true...
Neither of those changes make any sense.

I have been pretty clear for a really long time on the issues with an in-game UI ranking system for a long time. I am not trying to tease or irritate you for the fun of it, but a lot of people have spent considerable time on this issue. The reason we can't be specific right now is that it is in flux and in dev. That's annoying to you guys, but if I say "no" it's as much of an inaccurate statement as if I say "yes." Anyone who thinks based on my prior statements that we were going to have a 1-50 ranking system right in the game UI on day one is probably paying more attention to the subsequent discussions than what I've said. If that were the case, I'd just have said that. This is not a marketing feature, in fact about 99% of people don't care.

But the 1% of people who do care are super important to us, just as much so as any other constituency - and Kevin Franklin and I have been - and continue to work on something useful and deep for a long time. Production realities mean we have to be cautious and coy. That's one of the disadvantages of having a fairly open dialog with the community - is that the upper echelons of that community get exposed to, and care about a lot of the sausage making.

Also Forge guy just doesn't know how to use all the Forge features yet. UI has changed and presumably he's playing with it at NY where you get 15 minutes on a station on an old build - if he's not, then he's a pirate and still hasn't figured out the UI. Forgive me if I don't have any sympathy for him.

Also the guy who called our team the c-word. I get that it's a continuation of the Evilore thread, but come on. I put up with a lot of stuff to stay here and be a part of the community but there's a limit, and I don't think I'm being dainty or sensi. I don't think it's a huge ask to keep it at least borderline civil, salt aside. It's 4:40am and I don't get overtime for this.
We appreciate your being here. I think sometimes our passion for the franchise can make us really bitter when something we like is taken away, replaced, or changed.

I appreciate both this and the realities of development in general, but ranking (or the lack thereof) at least appears to be "in flux and in dev" a hell of a lot later than literally any other feature. Meanwhile, other features, some of which were at least initially unpalatable to the "1%" were revealed far earlier, with far more confidence, and far less concern about "flux". In that context, it's hard not to feel -- if you are a member of that diehard constituency who play Halo games come rain or shine for year upon year until the next one is released -- that your fanboy purchase is being taken for granted, and other constituents actively courted ahead of you.

Also, while I will not dispute that it is a small minority of players who are vociferous about having visible ranks, I think the people who you say don't care may not consciously care, may not report caring, but still actually do benefit from ranking, and are moved by ranking, in ways they don't really consider.

Also, the Pareto principle is at work here. The sizeable majority may not "care" about ranks, but the minority that does -- and cares about 'competitiveness' in general -- also tend to be some of your most devoted customers, the kinds who go and make threads on other forums, drive conversations and communities, buy map packs, hype your games, and play them day after day after day, long after the majority has got distracted by newer, shinier things. Attending to that minority -- or at least being more obvious in respecting what they cherish -- has implied value for the franchise far down the line.

The problem isn't that they get to see the sausage being made; it's that the butcher is serving them last, if at all.

Edit: I also appreciate that they are the hardest audience to please, and will happily call you 'cunts' when you fail to, so I can understand why you might throw your hands up and dismiss them. But to do so is probably bad for Halo in the long-term.
I'm someone who never made it past 40 in Halo 2 or past 36 in Halo 3 and ranks were important to me. They definitely helped with getting me to keep playing the game.

I blame Jimmy Carter.
Always blame Jimmy Carter.

if the berlin thing is true, i will travel there tomorrow.

My friend, which I know for years was standing next to him, so yeah, it is true, but it wouldn't suprise me, if the store get's closed tommorow, by a special police force. :lol

Not bitter, just unsweetened

Because the logistics aren't usually MS owned

It's like a wholesaler, in a sense - which everybody gets product from

For example it could be entertainment one/video1 or solutions to go or azzaro up here

These companies used to send out very early- like outrun2 we were sitting on for 2+ weeks until MS dropped the street date

If these companies clear out inventory so early it puts the onus on the retailer... And unless its a chain, they don't hold them very well, in my experience

With the maps being on the HD and the Megalo system it will be much easier for them to change things. I'm talking big changes too. This is much more flexible than Reach. They could even go so far as to patch things as big as assault into the game. The theme of Halo 4 so far has been dynamic with weapon drops, spartan ops seasons, loadouts etc. I'm hoping this continues after launch. Hopefully 343 will listen to feedback from the community and release several big title updates that fine tune the game.

Yep, confirmation that changes are done faster is really great.

lol

My friend met frankie at a signing in the morning and he told him "We better have levels next to our names in the ranking system".

Frankie told him "You can, just change your gamertag to EasyRank50 and you have numbers next to your name".

I've never had an issue when playing games early

The thing is, that normally nobody says anything, if you have the game 3-4 days early, but if you have the game like 20 days early it's something different...

Edit: Damn it Bobs! :D

No I won't visit it, because I have some very important things to do tommorow, but I think I wouldn't take the risk anyway...

So Halo 3 Forge is Forge 2000, Reach's Forge is Forge XP, and Halo 4's Forge is Forge Vista?

EDIT: Wait, if we get power-ups through ordnance drops, why doesn't he just place a global drop and make it so that that drop is always a power-up in the gametype? We already know you can place weapons on the map so you don't need the ordnance system for those.

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.
We will never ban someone who purchases copies of the game in good faith. However, the retailers who violate their contractual obligations will be dealt with.

HOWEVER, if you start posting videos and such online, that's a different matter. We're doing our best to protect innocent consumers from unwittingly being spoiled and we have no easy way to determine legitimate from illegitimate copies from an online video.

I'll pm you my address so you can go ahead and send me my copy. I won't post any videos or anything.

Good to know, already thought it would be this.

Seems fair and if you can really tell if someone has a legit copy I see no problem with this

Have you checked your PM's? You probably read it anyway, but wanted to be sure.

Damn - how did you get it so early?

Would love to walk into a shop - see the game sitting there and pick a copy up. Would be so good.

In Switzerland it is "normal", that games are in stores 10 days earlier, before the release. At least, I was told so and the guy was playing Anniversary and several other games way earlier.
