I would do anything to see CC2's Storm series with 720p and 4xMSAA. They're beautiful games and their presentation is only disrupted by the ridiculous aliasing at times.
Lol, and Storm looks twice as good as the Storm 2 video he linked.

This is going to be almost as expensive as PS3's launch for me.

Well I mean...it wasn't so much about price, it was more about what you want with the system. It came with HD cables, it came with a headset, it came with a hard drive that I knew was gonna be useful having owned the original Xbox. That $299 model existed solely so they could say they had a system out there for $299, but it was so barebones, and useless on it's own that you pretty much HAD to buy something else with it. At the very least you needed the memory card, because this was before it supported USB drives for saves. You still ended up having to spend $350 or more.
At least with the Wii U here though, I feel like there's value in the 8gb model. I'm getting the 32gb one, just cuz I was planning on getting Nintendo Land anyway. However, if someone doesn't care about Nintendo Land, I easily see the 8GB model being viable, because both systems have memory that'll need to be expanded eventually I think. The stands aren't really required either.

Yeah you could upgrade the Wii U memory all the way up to 3TB if you want with a USB Harddrive.

That's mainly seven years of banning.
The complaining next year during the other consoles sequels will be legendary. Either the price will be too high or the consoles will be "too weak" because they don't match a gaming PC in a case six times the size that costs hundreds more.

That's okay, no matter what the information they have on Sony or Microsoft's next consoles, they'll still have plenty of middle ground in smack talking Nintendo.
It's entirely possible that both have a premium sku that is 400 dollars or more. I don't think we'll hit 500 but 450 is possible if not likely. MS might try and save some good will by making 360 pads BC.
I think Sony is probably going to target 350.

I have confidence that Sony will get it wrong again. The Vita shows that they want their niche market of people who are willing to pay a lot for good hardware.

Now that I think about it, it's funny how Sony tried to copy the Wiimote on the last minute by implementing motion controls on the controller, do their games even support that now? I'm fully expecting a controller with a screen for PS4 now.

I don't see why any of the NL games wouldn't work on the pro controller tbh, twin sticks work just as well as motion control.
I really thought every game would support three control methods for the SP and two for the MP, i can't use what is essentially a TV remote on it's side as a controller for even a 2D game never mind something like the 3D NL games.
Ah well it just means i will be buying one less game because of the $50 needed for another Wii Mote Plus and nunchuk controllers...
If a Wii Mote Plus is essential for MP NL games then there should be one bundled in the premium pack imo (yes i have heard the 200 million motes already sold quote

I'll be honest, I wasn't on Gaf at the time, obviously, but I was amongst that crowd. I remember it clearly... "Microsoft wants you to spend $400 to get a non-gimped console? Da fuck! Man, glad Sony wouldn't do anything that stupid...."
Was one of the reasons I only got a PS3 a couple years after launch, went pre-owned shopping till I could find a BC unit... that sadly died less than a year later.
(edit) Drago: Easily! At the time blu-ray players were selling for $400-600 a piece, and if you got the cheapo ones for $400, many were locked out as the standard evolved and their firmware couldn't be upgraded... It was literally cheaper (and safer) to get the bottom line PS3 then just get a stand alone BR player.
$400 I'd say.
I've learned to never bash anything or assume anything because it will bite back.

From what i have read PS3 cost around $900 to manufacture at launch, $300 of it was the Blu Ray drive and the Cell CPU alone, without the BR drive it would have been closer to $500 at launch imo, Cell was very expensive to manufacture esp in 2006.

do u guys remember ps3's ebay prices? i strictly remember one guy asking $250,000 for a 60gb ps3. he's reason for the steep price was to bring up his daughter, iirc.
compare to that, wii's price was so low, it felt bad,
Doubley funny since you could walk into any store 1-2 weeks after launch and find stores full to the brim of them.
I have this "nice" memory of the PS3 and the sixaxis.
A friend and I were over this dude's house who owned a launch PS3. He let both of us play Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. So it was cool and all but then it got to this part where Ratchet is falling from the sky and you have to avoid obstacles along the way using the motion controls.
After that was done, he remarked "And that's how you do motion controls. Fuck the Wii." I didn't pay it any mind though. I never encountered another game that used the motion controls on the PS3 controller ever again except PixelJunk Eden a couple years later. That shit was pretty damn fun.
Fuck I knew I forgot a game that used sixaxis. Folklore was a truly underrated game. Honestly, Sony's fucked up big time this gen but this game.... this game almost redeems them.

arent you overestimating the blu ray a bit? Blu Ray is hardly the system seller dvd was for ps2. Most people do not use blu ray, dvd sections in stores are usually bigger than blu ray sections...(blu ray is stupid)
