Can you guys help me with something regarding online co-op?

I've been playing this in bro-op mode, having a blast in professional campaign mode, we do one chapter every night. If I want to play with my friend, I set the game in "Private" mode, so I can invite him to play from the lobby.

But... we also want to be invaded by humans controlling monsters and play those special events where you meet with other characters, also controlled by humans.

How do we do it?

If I set up the game as "public"... then I can't invite my friend to play. Is there something i'm missing here?

You set it up as public, and then send an invite to your friend super fast. That works on the 360 at least, dunno if it would be different on PS3.

It's weird you can't set up private and still allow for agent hunt and 3/4 player matchups. Capcom seems to always make obvious mistakes with their matchmaking (like how agent hunt is random only, and when failing to join, you are kicked out to the mode select menu).

Why does the car chase in Chris' third chapter look so bad? The textures are repetitive and ugly, the cars animate like they're on rollercoaster tracks and the lighting is completely off.

It's even more confusing considering Jake's fourth chapter has a motorcycle chase that looks completely fine. Weird.

FFS Capcom lol. Thanks for the reply! I'm playing it on PS3 and will try this tonight.

If anyone has some other tips for this kind of situation... please share them.

I think you just set the join game thing to "invite only" (this is under the top filter asking if you want to be online/offline) and make sure agent hunt is on... should be good.

But I don't have much experience with co-op been playing almost all solo.

I generally set up public matches and then invite my friends to play. People hardly ever join my game before my friend accepts my game invite, especially on Professional, so I think you'll be fine.

How do you invite your friend once you set up the game as public? On PS3, it skips the lobby and goes straight to the mission. And you can't invite friends from the mission (that I'm aware of).

Nope, once you set it to invite-only or "private", agent hunt can't be selected at all.

Uh so you know how you get that long laundry list of options (partner join, agent hunt, attack reaction, infinite ammo)? If you set partner join to "allow" then the next page should open up a lobby and have you sitting there until either someone joins your game or you start the mission.

On 360 there is a prompt at the bottom of the page to press X (Square on PS3 I guess) to invite someone from your friends list. I'm not sure how it works on PS3 but that's how I do it on 360. I'm pretty sure that once the game starts you can go to the XMB and click on a friend who is playing RE6 and invite them to your game though (that's what I did for RE5).

For those who playing Mercs seriously, check out that FAQ

It sucks that scoring system is the same as Reunion :\

Maybe the higher combos scales too quickly up in points, but I much prefer this system over the original mercs score system. Getting a full combo is a lot harder than spamming melee attacks.

finished Leon's campaign. Leon is so much better than he was RE4. He still has some groaners but he is a far more natural evolution of his RE2 self with some well done call backs. Sadly his campaign was still mostly a dud. The first chapter was great and felt like a great homage to Outbreak in some ways. The rest of it was uneven. Either painfully dull or just endless explosions and nonsense. Chapters 2 and 3 were particularly bad. China would been such a great location had they not squandered it on a bad linear TPS. It didn't really share any of my gripes with Chris's game but it introduced a whole bunch of its own. Either stick with QTEs or don't. Having something solved with a QTE the first times and then dropping for the third time is cheap. Leon's game had some other problems and I find it hilarious that Capcom managed to screw up the 180 turn. Zombies appearing of thin air is pretty ridiculous too. I'm also not a fan of it cutting to an active cutscene yet allowing the enemies to continue to surround you while you have no control. Leon's whole is like that with cheap shots instead of actual challenge. Ran into a couple glitches with doors not opening and having to die for the game to actually move me forward. I also loving how poorly the handling is when running. Classic RE games handled much better.

On to Jake's/Sherry's game.

It's not really hard. Can be a pain in the ass if surrounded by mad zombies and bloodshots, but flame grenade or magnum will help. In RE5 you really needed skills to get the best scores. Here even noob not very skilled player can get over a million with just 150c. But that boss delay thing is the worst.

Yeah, this is pretty damn annoying, especially in Chris' chapter 5 in that room where
you have to hold out for X minutes as enemies flip levers that bring in more Chrysalids.

In the long run does it even matter though? In RE5 normal mercs, the way to get the ideal score was to get a 150 combo + melee everybody. In Reunion, the way to get the ideal score was to get a 150 combo + melee everybody + wait to kill boss (or be cheesy and trap him behind a box).

In RE6 it's rather similar (but you have many more options regarding melee instead of spamming cobra strike). I defintiely wouldn't say it's less challenging.

And I think it's really unfair to call it easy to get a 150 combo. In RE5 it was extremely difficulty, and for most maps in RE6 it's still very difficult, especially if you play solo.

Hmm, have you played RE5 for high scores? I guess not. Cobra Strike is definitely not an option to get to the top of leaderboards.
In RE6 you just have to counter or use coup de grace attacks + keep the boss alive if possible. 150 combo is very easy if you know where enemies spawn. Steel Beast can be a problem due to its enormous size.

So have you guys tried playing Mercs mode... WITH THE MUSIC TURNED OFF?

Goddamn. It becomes such an intense experience, without that goofy tune and just the sounds of your gun, the monsters and your partner blasting away in the distance...

Try it.

You know what DLC I want for mercs:

PN 03 OST.

Yeah, that game music fits perfectly mercs. And that way we can have a piece of Mikami greatness on RE6.

I played RE5 mercs to death, although I didn't care much about the playing style of only using melees. I have seen videos of high level play of RE5 mercs and I can remember a LOT of cobra strike spam, so much it was pretty much the only thing used as an attack. If this wasn't the strategy used for high level play I'm really curious what was.

as long as the others?

Shorter. I finished it in about 4 hours.

I remember that too. Also a lot of Jill neck-breaker spam. The basic idea I think was to find a melee move that killed instantly and to abuse it.

Mercenaries is so addictive, granted we only played a total of 3x times total but it's so much fun to play.
Chasing highscores, teamwork all while sliding and rolling on the floor :)

Cobra Strilke is what every top player used back in 2009 (including myself) when game just released. Then Dash changed everything. And in 2010-2012 Wesker Stars became the best char, since he has the best setups for melees without risking a headshot criticals and Cephalo melee which became very improtant for best scores.
And obviously you cant even get in top 100 on Experimental Facility without Licker Dashing.

Played a few rounds of RE5 mercs today... holy crap.

It's so frustrating not being able to fucking move or get around an attack. You know it's coming, but there's really nothing you can do. Since you shot the adjacent guy, and the blow is gonna land before you get the melee invulnerability. You can't even really run past attacks. Constantly grabbed from behind. Melee on downed enemies takes forever for the prompt to come up. Sharing pickups, so the ground is littered with stuff I can't even use that I mistakenly pick up trying to do a melee and then my inventory is screwed...

Lol... Capcom just put Jill in RE6 mercs already mkay? Cause I'm not in a rush to go back to the old style.

Mercs is so good, my new thing is seeing how long I last without smashing any time crystals. I just keep extending the clock using counters, coup de grace, and melee finishers.

Halfway through the Jake/Sherry campaign. RE6 is a piece of work. The Chris campaign was easily one of the most boring and shitty gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Leon was slightly better and benefited from stayer closer to Leon's original characterization and having one great chapter.

Jake and Sherry has been a total blast despite having the most potential for going off the deep end. It isn't nearly as janky or reliant on cheap shots(aside from that one chase sequence)

It's paced well and I'm really digging Jake and Sherry's interactions. Why the hell couldn't the rest of the game be like this?

Replaying chapters on pro right now, this time with all online modes enabled. The online integration of this game is downright amazing. I wish I played with all these modes on the first time. Hunt and the intersections makes the game so much more intense.

Pro with Agent Hunt on? Man, thats ballsy. lol.

I would have finished the section, but the damn
helicopter
is a bitch. Once you die once Hunt turns off. The difference between the two was stunning.

Also pro is super easy. I cant see much of any difference between Vet and Pro.

funny enough I like Leons and Chris so far.

I disliked Jake's chapter 1 and 2.

Ugh. Whenever playing with my friend on PSN, if someone dies during an intersection, or it has to "rejoin partner" after the campaign intersection, it fails every fucking time and we have to restart from a checkpoint. Fucking buggy game. I love it though <3

Played about an hour into Leon's campaign, which incidentally is pretty much the demo. That very beginning mission, the training mission, was awful. It tells you next to nothing about the game. I'm still not ready to give up, and I have the controls down pretty well(duck, dive, cover) but I really hope it picks up. I really hate the fact that there seems to be no continuity between scenes of when I can run and when I can't. I hate having to wait for for NPC's to slowly trod their way to an exit point. So what were the tips in regards to camera? It is awful, how can I fix it?

Leon's chapter 1 is fucking weird in that regard. It's the only time your movement gets constricted for no reason like that.

Yea the game gets better... it's probably one of the worst intros to a game in a long while, gives a very awful first impression.

Rapidly flick through the tips on the loading screens by hitting X/A. Those are the best instructions in the whole game and you can only view them when loading...

FUCK!! FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!!

Spent the past two hours playing Mercenaries with a random guy online and we were trying to 150 combo Urban Chaos (which I've already done once). We got up to a 144 combo and a bloodshot, a dog, and a bunch of zombies all lag out at me and get into a grab loop where I don't have time to pop any herbs and I FUCKING DIE.

ARRGHHHH!!!!!!

I need someone to get online on XBL because I need to fucking 150 combo this motherfucker.
